Beast Taming: Abyssal Descent-Chapter 371 - 312:
Peter Burke’s eyes shone as he watched Iron Man fly away, muttering under his breath.
"Peter, now’s not the time to think about that. During the battle, be careful, don’t let that big octopus eat you."
Gwen Stacy retorted without any good humor, then jumped up, shooting out a web line from her hand that wrapped around a nearby building, swinging away directly.
"Alright, let’s deal with Mr. Octopus first. Such a big octopus, if we could grill it, how many days would it take to eat it all?"
Thinking of the grilled squid he had in Chinatown, Peter Burke couldn’t help but shed a tear of longing at the corner of his mouth.
Then he reached out, shot out a web, and agilely leaped out, swinging between skyscrapers with the help of his web’s pull.
"Once we solve Mr. Octopus, we absolutely have to get the director to treat us to a seafood feast!"
Falcon shook his head, the mechanical wings on his back spread open, lifting him into the sky.
"One meal’s not enough! At least a week of feasting!"
Colonel Rhode responded, flying after them in his Iron Man suit.
Meanwhile, Captain America, Hawkeye, and Natasha were piloting the Quinjet, hovering in the air, revealing missiles that began targeting Mr. Octopus.
After being bombarded by the little bugs, five of his tentacles shattered, and Mr. Octopus was now furious beyond compare.
When he targeted those little bugs, and they suddenly dropped from the sky, he immediately charged over.
At the same time, his tentacles weren’t idle, grabbing whatever was on the ground, whether it was a derelict car, a collapsed building, or trees, and threw them towards the direction of the little bugs.
With terrifying strength, these thrown objects were like missiles, creating huge craters wherever they hit.
Fortunately, the three pilots, piloting the Quinjet, were very agile and weren’t hit by Mr. Octopus’ attacks.
However, Mr. Octopus’s barrage of throws forced them to elevate their altitude once again.
And just as the three Quinjets were stalling Mr. Octopus, Hulk finally charged in front of him.
What met his eyes was a massive heap that lay on the ground, moving like waves, with dozens of tentacles flailing around, grabbing things off the ground and hurling them into the air.
Numerous smaller tentacles emerged, drilling throughout the city’s ruins, seemingly in search of any signs of life.
Hulk’s appearance immediately caught the attention of three or four of these smaller tentacles.
But just as these tentacles went to attack Hulk from behind and opened their flower-like mouths, he grabbed them with brute force.
The violent Hulk, holding the blood-red mouth of the tentacle open with both hands, unleashed a powerful force, tearing the tentacle in half.
After tearing apart four small tentacles in succession, Mr. Octopus, who was focused solely on attacking the aircraft, was finally alerted.
The giant bald head slowly turned, with bloodthirsty, terrifying eyes, locking onto the green ant on the ground.
"Roar~!"
A loud roar and a thick main tentacle slammed towards Hulk.
But Hulk wasn’t a fool; he wouldn’t stand still waiting to be hit by a tentacle.
Kneeling down and springing up, Hulk lunged towards the rubble of a large building on the side.
With a resounding "boom," dust and smoke filled the air as the thick tentacle hit nothing but air.
Even though Hulk’s movement didn’t escape Mr. Octopus’s sight, dozens of smaller tentacles, like snakes, charged into the ruins of the building Hulk had crashed into.
It was at this moment that the rest of the teammates finally arrived.
Spider Woman and Spider-Man, one after the other, smashed through the glass from the upper floors of the dilapidated building, rushing inside to help Hulk deal with the small tentacles.
Tony, Falcon, and Rhode, flying tens of meters above Mr. Octopus’s bald head, used their suits’ energy weapons to generate laser beams and sliced towards Mr. Octopus’s head.
The laser’s cutting effect immediately "buzzed" on Mr. Octopus’s scalp, slicing the surface flesh but barely penetrating before being repelled by a surge of special energy.
Then the Iron Man suits continuously opened up, launching various micro-missiles, fiercely bombarding Mr. Octopus’s eyes.
The earlier Quinjets had set an example, as various large-caliber bombs, blasted onto Mr. Octopus, only tore off a layer of his skin, and soon after, he was completely restored.
The missile power on the Iron Man suits was naturally less potent than those large-caliber bombs, so attacking other parts of Mr. Octopus would surely have no effect.
In that case, they focused on bombarding his eyes, forcing him to guard, thus occupying most of his attention.
As for the tentacles flailing madly everywhere, constantly grabbing at the three Iron Man suits above, the trio remained unpanicked.
With assistance from smart programs and satellite surveillance overhead, the smart programs calculated the evasive routes in the shortest time.
Thus, the three of them deftly navigated through the wildly thrashing tentacles, constantly adjusting their positions to attack Mr. Octopus’s eyes.
Meanwhile, the three who had entered the nearby abandoned building also faced a siege from the small tentacles.
These small tentacles were omnipresent, capable of slipping in through any gap.
Ventilation ducts, air-conditioning exhaust channels, toilet pipes... all were overwhelmed by tentacles hunting for Hulk.
However, though numerous, the small tentacles were no match when wrapped around Hulk; even with suction cups constricting, they couldn’t withstand Hulk’s immense strength tearing them apart.
One tentacle after another was ripped into pieces of flesh by Hulk’s bare hands, discarded around him.
The entire hall on the fifth floor turned into a bloody hell, with flesh chunks carpeting the ground, covered with mucus secreted by the tentacles, making the whole fifth floor look incredibly filthy and gory.
On the eighth floor above, the two Spider-Men couldn’t even think of helping Hulk, as they were chased into a frenzy by more than a dozen small tentacles.
If not for their Spider Sense, allowing them to dodge danger, the two might have already become a meal for the tentacles. Worst of all, these small tentacles could spray venom after splitting open their mouths.
This venom had a strong corrosive nature, capable of corroding even cement floors, leaving behind pits.
This forced the two Spider-Men to avoid confronting the small tentacles directly, having to use their webs to trap the suddenly appearing tentacles, tying them onto the walls or the ground.
Yet, the webbing, effective on some super criminals, could only restrain these tentacles for a few seconds before they broke free.
"I hate Titan Giant Beasts; they’re not something we can deal with!"
Feeling an emptiness in his body, Peter Burke complained.
He couldn’t help it; his webbing was synthesized from proteins in his body, and shooting out a lot in a short time would cause an imbalance in his body’s nutrition, leaving him feeling drained.
"Shut up! We need to escape the building, otherwise we’ll eventually be caught by these tentacles."
The two Spider-Men, even while cooperating, found it tough to handle the situation. Gwen just wanted to escape this building, to lead those tentacles away a bit.
About helping Hulk, their suits had micro-screens in the eye sections, which could be used to check on teammates.
Hulk stood there, engaged in hand-to-hand combat with numerous tentacles, ripping the attacking tentacles into shreds with his bare hands.
The corrosive venom they spewed posed no harm to Hulk at all.
So, instead of worrying about Hulk, it was better to be concerned about themselves.
"You’re right, we need to get out, or we’ll definitely be eaten by these tentacles."
As he shot a web to bind a tentacle bursting out from an air-conditioning vent above, Peter Burke deftly flipped sideways, dodging another tentacle’s attack, and charged toward the nearest window.
Gwen Stacy didn’t lag behind, moving just as swiftly, if not faster than Peter Burke, and also rushed towards the window closest to her.
