Beast Taming: Slaughter Atlas-Chapter 548 - 492: Escape from the Soul Suppressing Abyss
Inside Soul Suppressing Abyss, in Cell No. 1 of Block A.
Chu Chen sat cross-legged on the ground, his inner unease almost reaching its peak. Now imprisoned, cut off from information, he had no idea what was happening outside.
Old Bai looked at the troubled face of Chu Chen and couldn’t help but ask, "Sir, is there something bothering you?"
Chu Chen shook his head and replied, "Nothing, just feeling a bit unsettled."
Just as Old Bai was about to ask further, a rush of footsteps echoed from the corridor outside the cell.
The three of them looked outside and saw it was Wang Chengyu.
Over the past two years, he would visit from time to time, but this time his expression was heavy and his steps hurried, clearly something had happened.
Seeing this, Chu Chen immediately got up to meet him, looking into his eyes and asked gravely, "Has something happened?"
Wang Chengyu didn’t immediately respond but instead yanked the iron lock off and said, "It’s urgent, let’s talk on the move."
Hearing this, Chu Chen frowned deeply, turned to Old Bai and Shi Feng and said, "Can you bring them along?"
Old Bai and Shi Feng exchanged glances, their eyes full of anticipation.
Without any hesitation, Wang Chengyu instructed his subordinates, "Bring all the people from Bai Shi Gang."
Old Bai was overjoyed upon hearing this. The Bai Shi Gang was his faction, and if they left Soul Suppressing Abyss, it would be a formidable force, considering even the weakest member is at King Level.
The members of Bai Shi Gang were extremely excited, with a vague premonition that they might finally leave this damn Soul Suppressing Abyss.
While others were excited, Chu Chen’s expression turned even more grim, and his unease intensified.
Chu Chen and Wang Chengyu led at the front, followed by hundreds of guards, and Bai Shi Gang at the rear.
"Can you tell me what’s going on now?" Chu Chen asked quietly.
Wang Chengyu quickened his steps, widening the gap between them and the guards, and replied in a low voice, "The Alliance has changed leadership, and we need to move you quickly, or your life will be in danger."
Chu Chen’s expression changed abruptly as he quickly asked, "Is Sun Wenshan back?"
Wang Chengyu nodded solemnly.
"How is the Alliance Hierarch now?"
"Unknown, information within the Alliance is sealed off, I couldn’t find anything, but no news is the best news. I believe the Hierarch is fine."
"Let’s hope so."
During their conversation, they arrived at the exercise yard, where over two thousand guards were assembled—members Wang Chengyu had groomed for years.
This time he chose to side with Zhao Wudi, naturally bringing all his subordinates along.
At this moment, Leng Junfeng arrived with his group.
Earlier, while gathering his subordinates, the mole he had placed beside Wang Chengyu sent word.
Upon receiving this news, Leng Junfeng was secretly pleased. Wang Chengyu decided to continue supporting Zhao Wudi; this was excellent news for him. Though troublesome, nobody would steal the credit from him.
Soon, both sides assembled in the center of the yard.
Wang Chengyu looked at his old colleague and sighed, "Leng Junfeng, you shouldn’t have come."
Leng Junfeng retorted coldly, "Spare the nonsense, we’re just serving different masters, after all. If you don’t want to die, hand over Chu Chen now, and I can pretend nothing happened."
"No need for your persuasion, I’ve made my decision, and it won’t change," Wang Chengyu responded forcefully.
Leng Junfeng’s expression turned grim as he stared at Wang Chengyu and said sternly, "Since you refuse, don’t blame me for showing no mercy. Brothers, capture him!"
At his command, none of the guards behind him stepped forward.
Leng Junfeng’s face showed anger. He turned to scold his guards, "Are you defying orders? Do you want to die?"
The guards appeared troubled. They weren’t deliberately disobeying orders; it was truly difficult to act against their former superiors and colleagues.
Wang Chengyu sighed and said, "Enough, Leng Junfeng, stop pushing them. My people won’t act either. Let’s fight it out between us. If you win, Chu Chen is yours. If you lose, don’t stop us. Do you agree?"
Leng Junfeng’s expression turned more complicated; if he continued pressuring his men to attack their old colleagues, he would lose their support. Even if he became the warden, he could be betrayed at any moment.
But fighting Wang Chengyu offered no guarantee of victory. Yet, not accepting the challenge would brand him a coward—an obvious ploy.
Whatever the result, Chu Chen cannot leave Soul Suppressing Abyss, especially with three Emperor-level experts guarding the outside.
With this thought, Leng Junfeng relaxed a bit, looked coldly at Wang Chengyu and said, "As you wish," then summoned his Guardian Beast.
His Guardian Beast was an Emperor Level Eighth Rank Iceflame Direwolf.
With a flicker, Leng Junfeng stood atop the direwolf, glaring at Wang Chengyu, "Come, show me your strength."
Wang Chengyu remained calm, raised his hand, and summoned his Guardian Beast.
His Guardian Beast was an Emperor-Level Peak Winged Demon Tiger.
Sensing the tiger’s aura, the Iceflame Direwolf’s pupils shrank, its forelegs bent slightly, letting out a low growl, as if facing a formidable foe.
Conversely, the Winged Demon Tiger appeared calm, seemingly unbothered by the wolf.
Judging by their aura alone, the Iceflame Direwolf was clearly at a disadvantage.
Leng Junfeng’s face darkened, and he snorted, "Hit it hard!"
At its master’s command, the Iceflame Direwolf mustered courage and charged at the Winged Demon Tiger.
Wang Chengyu sternly ordered, "Go, just leave it breathing."
The Winged Demon Tiger had no intention of holding back against this challenging little wolf.
With a slight flap of its wings, it vanished from its spot, moving much faster than the Iceflame Direwolf.
Leng Junfeng’s heart skipped; facing an opponent superior in speed, power, and realm, the Iceflame Direwolf had no chance of winning.
After just a few exchanges, the Iceflame Direwolf was injured in several places. Continuing the fight would leave it severely wounded.
Realizing this, Leng Junfeng’s expression worsened. He had done what he could; even if Li Mochen and others blamed him, he had reasons to defend himself.
After all, he was merely a deputy warden, lacking the power and reputation to match Wang Chengyu.
Thinking it over, Leng Junfeng decisively chose to concede. Continuing the battle was pointless and would only badly injure his Guardian Beast.
Wang Chengyu nodded at him and led his group flying out of the Soul Suppressing Abyss.
Meanwhile, one of Leng Junfeng’s confidants, worried, asked, "Sir, just let them go like that?"
Leng Junfeng replied irritably, "Can you stop them?"
Hearing this, the man quickly shook his head and explained, "Sir, you’ve misunderstood. I’m worried the superiors might trouble you?"
Leng Junfeng shared his thoughts.
"You’re wise, sir. The Iceflame Direwolf’s injuries are proof enough. We did attempt to stop them, but their strength was overwhelming. It’s understandable that we couldn’t stop them. I’m sure those above won’t deliberately make things difficult for us."
