Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children-Chapter 370 - 369: Unlocking the Beast Form
Si Shuo looked up at Gong You and whispered, "Gong You, do you... do you like octopuses?"
Gong You gave her a kiss, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. "It’s you I like, my dear. No matter what you turn into, I’ll always like you."
"What if I turned into an earthworm?" Si Shuo blurted out. The moment she said it, she grossed herself out. ’What the hell was I thinking, an earthworm?’
Holding her, Gong You let out a muffled laugh. "My dear, fish love earthworms. A lot of Beastmen use them for bait. It’s just that my Beast Form is a bit big, so an earthworm wouldn’t even be a snack. Mmm, I’d need to devour them by the potful to be satisfied."
’A potful of earthworms?!’ Si Shuo’s skin crawled. She shook her head. "But I could clearly feel that Gong You was especially different today. Hmm, it was like... even more... more ferocious than the first time!"
Gong You held her chin, his eyes filled with affection. "You like it when I treat you this way, don’t you, my dear?"
Si Shuo’s face flushed. ’We’re like an old married couple already,’ she thought, ’but outside of... *that*, I still can’t handle how direct males can be.’ "It was... okay, I guess."
Gong You gently caressed her flushed cheeks. ’"Okay, I guess?" It was more like she loved it. Her vocabulary had become so limited she just kept repeating the same few words over and over. And those words were the cries her body couldn’t hold back, making him lose all reason, wishing he could truly transform into a Fish Beast and swallow her whole. He’d nearly given her his very life!’
’No wonder this little female has so many mischievous ideas. Even the smallest change could fill their life with such a deadly allure.’
Si Shuo snuggled in his arms, rubbing her cheek against his chin. "You miss the sea, don’t you, Gong You? The weather’s warmer now. After we get back from Lady Mu Qiong’s birthday banquet, we should find a day when everyone’s free and spend it at the seaside."
’With Gong You’s Time Law, one day is like ten. And while we’re at it, I can get pregnant with a pair of Blue Whale Cubs!’
Gong You hugged her tighter and hummed in agreement. "Perfect. My stash of small fish is almost gone anyway."
After a rainy season and the coldest season of her and a group of cubs clinging to him and begging for small fish, how much could possibly be left?
The thought of it was both funny and heartbreaking. The rations of a behemoth like a Blue Whale were being devoured by the twelve of them—a mother and her eleven children—forcing him to budget meticulously and count out every portion on his fingers.
His stingy-looking manner was both funny and heartbreaking.
Thinking of this, Si Shuo’s cravings returned. "Gong You, I’m hungry. That was... too exhausting just now..."
Gong You gave her a playful nibble. ’This little female is so mischievous. Whenever she’s with him, whether she’s in a good mood, a bad mood, or just bored, she starts craving small fish.’
"How were *you* the one who got exhausted?" He was the one doing all the work.
Si Shuo retorted confidently, "Doesn’t clinging to someone take energy?"
Gong You was actually speechless. He took out some small fish and slowly fed them into her mouth, watching as the little female squinted her eyes in silent delight. His Adam’s apple bobbed. "My dear, why don’t you change into your Beast Form?"
Si Shuo glanced at him, and with a single thought, she transformed into a blue-eyed white cat about the size of two hands. She let out a soft meow and went back to nibbling the small fish, a happy purr rumbling in her throat as her tail swayed lazily.
Gong You held her and petted her gently. The pressure was just right, making Si Shuo so comfortable she couldn’t help but flop over. She lay sprawled on her back, her tail trying futilely to cover herself, inviting him to scratch her belly.
’What a soft, delicate little thing.’ His heart melted completely. He couldn’t stop feeding her the small fish, and Si Shuo ended up coaxing a good ten or so out of him...
It was Si Shuo’s first time in her Beast Form, and it was surprisingly fun. The world seemed bigger, and it was no longer a vibrant kaleidoscope of colors, but a combination of blue, green, yellow, and gray.
It was like regressing from the 21st century to the 1950s or ’60s. But that was secondary. Her senses were much sharper, and her physical abilities were enhanced to the point where she could practically scale walls and leap across rooftops!
So, after waking up from a nap, she nibbled on a Dust Cleaning Talisman and, having discovered the wonders of her Beast Form, proceeded to go wild. Zhi Zhan, who was guarding the house, Ji Liang and Xiao Cheng, who hadn’t left yet, and all the cubs eating breakfast watched as the little female darted around the cave as if she’d gone mad. WHOOSH, she’d run over here, then with a light leap, she’d jump from the first floor to the second, and then she was bounding outside to climb a tree.
"What on earth got into Mother?" Kunzi flapped his wings, watching the whole spectacle from behind.
Yuanyuan, meanwhile, had also turned into a cat and joined the frenzy.
And so the scene unfolded: a white cat in the lead, with a group of cubs in their Beast Forms trailing behind, SWOOSHING east, SWOOSHING west. The sight was lively, bustling, and utterly delightful.
The Snowy Owl also spread its wings and followed, a half-beat behind everyone else.
Ever since unlocking her Beast Form, she spent most of her time as a white cat, mixing in with the cubs. The only exception was at mealtimes when some dishes required chopsticks and spoons, for which she had to change back into her human form to enjoy. Other times, she would transform into a white cat and blend in with the cubs.
When Yin Jiang used Teleportation to arrive, he scanned the area but couldn’t see the little female anywhere?!!
He felt a tug on his pant leg and looked down to see a small white cat tilting its head and meowing up at him.
’Is... is this the little female?’ Yin Jiang’s breath hitched. He pinched the scruff of the white cat’s neck and lifted it up.
Si Shuo froze for a second, then let out a fierce meow, trying to scratch him with her paws. ’Doesn’t he know how to hold me?’ But her limbs were too short; she couldn’t reach him at all.
Yin Jiang let out a muffled laugh and pulled her into a proper hug, pressing his face against her warm, soft, and smooth fur. "Shuo’er, I’m back."
He even took out the smoked rabbit, field mouse, and snake meat he’d prepared during his breaks on the hunt. There was a full paper bag of each!
The feeling of being fed by her male was simply the best. Si Shuo happily bonked her head against him, meowing, and subconsciously licked his cheek. ’I like Yin Jiang the best.’
Yin Jiang smiled, rubbing her head and teasingly scratching her neck. The little female became so comfortable that she let her guard down completely, her legs turning to jelly as she lay flat and let him do as he pleased.
How could anyone not find her shamelessly blissful appearance endearing?
After dinner, the family gathered around to listen to Yin Jiang talk about the hunt. Si Shuo lay on the table listening until Wei Ce scooped her into his arms and began stroking her fur. She closed her eyes and purred.
"I heard that the number of Wild Beasts in the forest is higher this year than in the past. One of the males in my hunting party has been on the hunt for decades, so he knows a lot about these things."
"He said it’s either because someone slacked off last year and didn’t cull enough of the Wild Beasts, allowing them to breed in large numbers during the rainy season and the coldest season. Or it could be that the Wild Beasts are just unevenly distributed, and our designated area happened to have a higher population," Yin Jiang said, his brow furrowed slightly.
"And if it’s the former?" Zhi Le asked, pressing his lips together.
"An increase in the number of Wild Beasts, especially when they gather, can easily form a Beast Tide," Wei Ce said, his expression grim. "And the Southwest Forest is huge. The Wild Beast population there is already substantial. If a Beast Tide forms, its scale will definitely not be small!"
Xiao Cheng couldn’t help but slam his hand on the table. "There are always some Beastmen who think that if they just slack off a little, it won’t have much of an impact on the hunt as a whole. But they don’t realize that if everyone thinks that way and hunts a little less, the cumulative number is enormous. Some of these Wild Beasts have high reproductive rates. More than six months have passed—who knows how many new cubs they’ve produced by now!"
