Chapter 449: Extra: Chasing the Evil God’s Wife 14_1

After Si Yan recovered her memories, she reflected on Tai Seng. Her own heart, she knew, was not large enough for more than one male. Similarly, Wang’s heart was not so expansive that he would share her with anyone else. Therefore, no matter what, she would not accept a second Beast Husband. However, regarding Tai Seng, she gradually found a delicate balance between her own values and those of the Beast World. Tai Seng was family, a subordinate, Wang’s brother, and a wonderful uncle to the cubs. But he was decidedly not her Beast Husband. Tai Seng himself had no objections to this; he felt content and happy just being able to stay with them.

...

Tai Seng’s demeanor had completely changed; he had become much more cheerful. Si Yan stared intently at Tai Seng. In the scorching desert, she looked as if she were eyeing a bowl of ice cream. Tai Seng sensed something was amiss and grew slightly nervous. Si Yan has amnesia now, and she doesn’t like snake-types. Could she possibly shift her affections to someone else? The thought brought Tai Seng no relief; instead, a wave of anxiety washed over him. He couldn’t take advantage of her vulnerability. If anything actually happened, not only would Wang not forgive him, but even Si Yan, once she regained her memory, wouldn’t forgive him! He had long since adjusted his mindset and accepted his place; he was utterly panicked. Moreover, he could feel Wang’s chilling, murderous aura emanating from behind him. I’m dead meat! A beast could actually die from this!

Si Yan licked her dry lips, her gaze thirsty as she looked at Tai Seng, who had taken half a step back. "You have a Special Ability, right? Is your Special Ability ice?"

Tai Seng, puzzled, nodded. "Yes, I can condense moisture in the air into ice."

"Does it take a lot of your power to create ice?"

Tai Seng’s cheeks flushed slightly as he replied earnestly, "Well, not too much. Freezing a large lake doesn’t consume a great deal of power."

"That’s fantastic!"

Tai Seng was momentarily confused. He couldn’t quite follow her train of thought.

Si Yan excitedly picked up a few coconut-like fruits. "First, make a block of ice," she said. "Then we can open these fruit shells, grind the ice into shaved ice, and pour it over the fruit. We’ll have slushies to drink!"

Tai Seng’s eyes lit up. "You’re right! In this heat, an icy drink is the most thirst-quenching. Wait a moment, I’ll go make it right now."

The tall, silver wolf Beastman, Tai Seng, conjured a large block of ice. He then gently shaved it into fine ice with his sharp claws, mixed it with the fruit juice, and eagerly offered the finished slushie to his Mistress.

Si Yan took a large gulp of the slushie and let out a contented sigh. "AHH."

So refreshing!

Wu Xie and Wu Yang chimed in, "Uncle Tai Seng, I want some! I want some too!"

Full of energy, Tai Seng made shaved ice for the two cubs as well. The three of them—one large and two small—each took a big sip of their slushies and then, in unison, let out a sigh of relief. "AHH..."

"This ability is so useful!" Si Yan exclaimed. "With you around, we won’t have to fear summer at all."

Tai Seng’s tail wagged joyfully. "My abilities are much stronger than before. Next time Blazing Day comes, I can create a lot of ice in the cave to control its temperature. We could even make a special cellar! I can keep a large amount of ice there to maintain a low temperature, so we can freeze and preserve different foods. I can also make all sorts of cold drinks—whatever you want, I’ll make it."

Wow, he’s like a walking air conditioner, a walking refrigerator, and a walking ice machine all in one! Si Yan marveled. But what’s Blazing Day?

Wang, who had been standing by unable to get a word in, occasionally shot a bolt or two of lightning from his hand, aimlessly striking whatever was nearby. Useless Special Ability, good for nothing but destruction, he thought with disdain, squinting as he considered his own power. Maybe it could be used for lighting?

So, he released a powerful bolt of lightning to test its illuminating capability. However, as soon as the lightning struck, a series of yelps erupted, and several Wild Wolf Beastmen emerged from a cave, cursing. "Have the heavens gone mad? My damn cave collapsed!"

Wang’s eyelid twitched. He immediately withdrew his hand, pretending nothing had happened.

Si Yan’s eyes sparkled. "Then, come summer, we can use your Special Ability to start a business! We can sell popsicles and cold drinks, and even open a cooling room for people to escape the heat. We could make so much money!"

Tai Seng’s tail wagged even more joyfully. "Mhm!"

Tai Seng and Wang possessed astonishing combat strength, and the Green Sand tribe needed their power to fight against the sand monsters. Thus, Si Yan and her group temporarily settled in the Green Sand tribe’s territory.

Wang and Tai Seng tidied up a cave for them. Over the next few days, Tai Seng took responsibility for hunting and tanning the hides of their prey. Wang then used these pelts to make Si Yan several sets of clothes, both light and heavy, as well as a few pairs of leather boots. Wang, the Snake Beastman, seemed to have an innate talent for making clothes and shoes; his stitches were fine, and the garments were well-fitted and stylish.

Initially, Si Yan was too embarrassed to accept so many gifts from someone she considered a stranger. But with Wang’s various ways of coaxing her, she ended up with enough outfits to wear a different one every day without repetition.

Wang even prepared all her food. He was especially skilled at stir-frying, stewing, and deep-frying, among other techniques. He also used a variety of spices; the small bag he carried with him contained everything from chili and Sichuan pepper to star anise, cinnamon, and more. This Beastman even knew she liked rice and often cooked it for her.

Si Yan had originally thought some of the life skills she possessed from the modern world would be useful here. Instead, she found they were completely unnecessary. Even though this wasn’t the resource-abundant modern Earth, she was somehow living such a luxurious life.

As Si Yan ate the braised pork belly in front of her, a warm, comforting feeling of domesticity gradually enveloped her. She suddenly looked up at the incredibly handsome male beside her. "Wang," she asked, "why are you so good to me?"

The Snake Beastman ladled a spoonful of soup for her and chuckled. "If I’m not good to you, who should I be good to? Don’t overthink it. Just eat."

"But..." Si Yan lowered her head slightly. "I’m starting to miss home."

She couldn’t understand the heroines in the novels she read, who, after transmigrating, would settle contentedly into their new worlds as if their past families and friends no longer mattered. Right now, she missed home terribly. She wanted to go back.

"Can I still go back?" Si Yan asked, her voice small. "Or can I not return?"

Tai Seng, who was working nearby, paused for a moment. As her Guardian Beast, he knew that Si Yan’s soul had grown up in another world. The last time she had transmigrated to the Beast World, Earth had already entered an apocalyptic era. Most of her relatives and friends had perished, and that world was practically in ruins. Apart from her hatred for her brother Si Jie, she had nothing else to hold onto there.

But now, her mental age was eighteen. In her current consciousness, Earth was still the Earth she knew. Her parents and her brother Si Jie were there, along with her classmates, friends, and teachers. She had arrived in this world inexplicably and, after a series of frightening experiences, had finally settled down. Sometimes she wondered if she had forgotten something important. Did Wang recognize her? Was everything he meticulously did for her just to ease her homesickness?

But despite everything, she truly missed home.

A hand, its knuckles distinct, warm and strong, decisively cupped her head and gently ruffled her hair.

"You can go home."

The male Beastman, Wang, lowered his head slightly, his gaze infinitely reassuring, soft, and indulgent as he looked into her beautiful eyes.

"I promise you."
