Beastmen Love-Chapter 131: Promise
Chapter 131: Promise
Astri is happy to see Lee and Tyr feeling more confident after finding their powers. She also has to remember that she came from a different culture and was taught many things that not all of them had the chance to learn. And, their powers are connected directly to her, so they need a push.
She checks around the castle construction followed by her spouses, and she likes the outcome. She can’t wait for their new home to be ready so Beau and Koa can spend more time in the sea too.
"We need to build walls to protect this area. Don’t forget to let the construction leader that they need to start the walls." Lee says to Wayde, who nods in response.
"It won’t make any sense to bring Astri here if there are no walls." Wayde says.
"Exactly."
"The salt market is coming in this direction since our salt factory is near here. It’s a must that these walls will be strong and tall. With your powers, Zin, our walls can be almost unbreakable." Tyr affirms.
As her spouses are discussing things, Astri feels an energy that she knows very well. She smiles and then looks at a tree, and Kangki is leaning on it with crossed arms. He was checking her spouses’ energies and realized that all of them unlocked their powers.
"Well, hello! Just the one that I wanted to see!" Astri says, happily and that always takes Kangki by surprise.
Her spouses stopped talking and focused on Kangki’s presence, whom they never gotten used to and would always feel that danger was always around with him.
She walks to Kangki and then leans on the tree where he is. He watches her from the corner of his eyes and then looks at the castle.
"Is this going to be your new castle? The one you projected?" He asks.
"Yes. It’s getting amazing, right? There’s one thing I wanted to ask you. We chose this place because the sea is right at the corner and is not so far from our previous home. However, there’s something worrying me. The Salt Market. There’s a lot of corrupted souls there, right?"
"Yes." He confirms.
That’s the only reason Astri’s spouses trust Astri about her friendship/partnership with Kangki is that both of them found an understanding of their roles. She’s open with her roles and the extension of her powers to him, and he’s open to her as well. This way they always discover important facts from evil creatures and beastmen.
"What do I need to do to keep them away from bothering me here?" She asks Kangki.
"Don’t be here." He answers directly and that makes her laugh and he smiles in his own way.
"I liked that answer. ’Don’t be here’. Direct and simple."
"Wherever you go, corrupted souls will go after you somehow with something as an excuse. Here it will be the Salt Market. As I heard about, you own a big place that produces salt."
"Yeah." She clicks her tongue. "I believe that we’ll have to deal with that either way. But if any of them have Monsters, I’ll get rid of them."
"Fair enough." He shrugs his shoulders.
"Even more inside my territory."
"I won’t let any Monster or Feral related to anyone inside your territory. That’s a promise."
"I believe you."
"Do you think it’s good for him to know the details of our places? He could use that against us." Tyr asks Astri.
"Not against her. But against you, maybe." Kangki says.
Astri’s spouses’ auras wide, getting tenser and stronger, as a warning.
"Do you think I fear your auras? You’re cubs in front of me. Don’t think that just because you found your powers you have any chance against me." Kangki smirks and raises his chin, challenging them to actually try to fight him.
Astri sighs rolling her eyes and walks away. Kangki follows her, noticing she got mad. He looked back at her spouses and they had a smirk on their faces, showing that was their plan. They made Kangki react to them, so she gets mad at him.
Kangki keeps following Astri and her spouses are following them, knowing that Kangki won’t know how to ask for forgiveness from Astri.
"These bastards! I want to rip their skins off!" Kangki thinks.
Since he really doesn’t know what forgiveness is, he keeps following her in an attempt to wait for her to talk to him again. She doesn’t feel angry, he knows very well that feeling, she’s more... disappointed.
After checking everything around, they decide to go back home. As Astri was flying back, Kangki was flying on her side, still quiet. She knows she can’t hope for Kangki to change, but for some reason she expects him to be different from her and she is more disappointed in herself than at him because it’s in his nature to get rid of things that annoy him or that want to overpower him.
She got so used to his friendship that she has him inside her heart somehow, but she needs to remind herself of who he is and that he’s not like the others. They were supposed to be opposites otherwise.
"I have a request for you." Kangki says to her as they are flying in the sky.
"What is it?" She asks, looking back at him.
"I want to talk alone with you. And I don’t want anyone else to hear it."
She takes a few seconds to answer. "All right."
She asks her spouses and guards to talk alone with Kangki.
"But we need to watch from a distance." Lee says.
"If I wanted to take her from you, I would have done it long ago." Kangki speaks.
"You already did it once." Lee reminds Kangki.
"But now I don’t have to because we’re allies." Kangki reminds Lee too.
Lee crosses his arms showing his discontentment.
"And when she was taken away. I remember you all saying that you trusted me like she does."
They stay in silence and look at Astri, and say that they will agree with anything she decides to do.
"Don’t worry. I’ll be back soon." She smiles at them.
She flies to a high tree, distant from everyone else’s eyes. He lands on her side and then his body fades away. She gets confused and then a portal opens and Kangki himself comes from it.
"Why did you come? I thought you just wanted to talk." She questions him.
"Because I think I need to be here for real."
"What do you mean?"
"You’re mad."
That affirmation from him surprised her.
"You came here.. because I’m mad?"
He sighs frustrated and looks away.
"You think I’m mad at you?" She asks.
"It feels like."
She smiles with a breath out. Then she chuckles.
"I’m not mad at you." She affirms.
He looks at her again in confusion and then sighs frustrated.
"Then why have you changed towards me? I didn’t like it!" He asks, showing that now he’s the mad one.
"I’m sorry. It wasn’t my intention. I was just confused if I may say that." She answers.
"Confused? By what?"
She sighs and then looks to the horizon, then she feels Nature’s energy telling her that she shouldn’t worry about anything. He moves to stand in front of her so she looks at him and not somewhere else.
"Confused by what?" He inquires again.
"My feelings for you." She answers, and he’s impressed to hear that. "I know who you are. And your culture, behavior, and ’nature’." She signalized the word ’nature’ because she believes that everything is learned, and he just learned to be this way. "I thought we could be closer. We could be at least friends. But when I heard what you said to my spouses made me remember that you’re around only because you’re interested in my powers. Your curiosity is more related to knowing how to live a different life and live forever with my help. That made me feel.. Disappointed. But not at you. But at myself for believing in a silly dream."
She opened herself to him, opening something different inside of him. He related to her. Everything she says to him is something that he also feels. They’re opposites in many things, but their feelings are the same.
"I feel the same." He softly says. "I’m also confused by my feelings for you. You showed me things I didn’t know I could feel. You opened yourself to me, exposed yourself to me. You trusted me. And I... felt happy. Monsters are not supposed to know this feeling. At least I didn’t know we could feel this. I also thought you wanted me only for protection, but I was starting to actually like the fact you want my protection. What was making me mad was that I also wanted more from us, and I don’t know what would happen if we became closer. You said I would change entirely. Will you change towards me if I become different?"
He wants to touch her face, but he stops midway.
"I’m not done talking to you... If I touch you they will come look after you... And I hate the fact they can touch you all the time. I hate that they can kiss you, mate with you, and I can’t. I fear changing, but I also desire you. I think I don’t mind becoming your spouse, but I know your beauty, energy, and love were never meant for me.."
