Beastmen Love-Chapter 164: Happy Spider

They stop for a break and let Astri and Yuki use their legs a little. Yuki runs, playing with her brothers, until she spots Skalven and runs to him.

"Skalven! Mom said you have really amazing abilities with webs. Can you show me?" Yuki asks, showing an excitement he wasn’t expecting.

"Yes. Is it true you can grab things from a distance?" Hopin asks.

"Well... I can." Skalven answers, a little confused by learning that Astri knows his abilities, and the children talking to him without any fear.

"Sweethearts, don’t disturb Skalven. He might not want to show his abilities." Astri says, walking to them.

"No.. They’re not disturbing.. It’s all right. Have you met other spiders before?" Skalven asks her.

"No. I heard about spiders, that’s all." She answers.

"Ah.."

"Pweease. Show us how you grab things?" Yuki asks, shaking his hand with puppy eyes.

"Sure.. Don’t be scared, please." Skalven answers.

He looks at the ball they were playing, then points his hand at it, and a web is shot from the palm of his hand and sticks on the ball. He pulls the ball and grabs it. The children gasp amazed.

"AWESOME!!" All of the kids say in unison, taking Skalven by surprise with how loud they were.

"Now me! Try to grab me!" Elias says running away.

"Bwother Elias is asking you to grab him." Yuki says, giggling.

"Really?" Skalven asks, in shock.

"Yes! Take us!" Hopin says, happily and running away too.

Skalven loses his voice and looks at Astri after her approval.

"They love to play. Do you like to play?" She asks him.

"Well.. I never did.." He answers, shyly.

"Why don’t you try?"

He looks at the children waiting for him to grab them and looks at Astri again impressed that she allows him to be near her children.

He throws his web at Elias and pulls him, Elias laughs trying to hold on the ground with his claws. Then he takes Hopin who was trying to run away quickly and jumping, then he takes the giggling Yuki and she screams happily when he takes her.

Astri watches them playing together and Skalven warming up his heart bit by bit. When she heard him chuckle softly, with a tender smile, she knew that he had a soft heart like Zin.

"Time to go, milady." Galion says to Astri.

"All right. Lets go, guys. Skalven has to work." Astri says after clapping to call their attention.

"Awwwwn!" They whine.

Skalven is impressed, but happy. The twin tigers rub their bodies on Skalven thanking him for the fun time. Yuki hugs his leg thanking him too, Hopin just says thank you and walks away holding Yuki’s hand.

"You’re welcome.."

He looked at Astri and her smile made him melt.

"You’re good with little ones. Did you know that?" She says to him.

"I never spent time with them.. Thank you for trusting me."

"You have a good heart. Thank you for playing with them." Astri says, while Kangki arrives and wraps his arm around her.

"She wants you to be their guardian." Kangki says, surprising her and Skalven.

"Kangki!" She elbows his stomach making him laugh.

"What.. Really?" Skalven asks, amazed.

"Well... I can’t lie. I’m a terrible liar. We have amazing guards. My spouses are amazing. But you have abilities that would make me feel more at ease about my children’s safety." Astri explains.

His eyes are wide in shock, and his heart is beating so fast that he feels it wants to rip his chest.

"You don’t have to accept. I’m sorry if this sounds selfish. We met not too long ago." Astri shyly says, feeling guilty. "You can disregard if you want."

"I...accept." He says, letting the happiness overtake him.

His eyes are filled with tears. Astri watches him trying to hold his tears, and smiles again.

"Welcome to the weirdest family then!" She says tapping his shoulder. "Galion will explain everything you need to know."

"The dragon? He doesn’t speak my language." Skalven says, trying to blink his tears away.

"He does now."

Skalven is confused, and she chuckles.

"He will tell you everything, my friend. Let’s go."

She walks away with Kangki. Skalven looks down, feeling so happy that he didn’t even know this could be possible. A spider being accepted to be someone’s guardian is the same as transforming earth into clear water.

He knows that all of them are more than they look like. However, he can feel they’re not evil. He takes some more breathing to start walking again.

"I can’t believe you did this, Kangki. That was embarrassing. I felt so bad and taking advantage of him." Astri softly says after they’re far enough.

"You’re not taking advantage of him. For someone like him, this request is a dream coming true. You both got what you wanted." Kangki answers, hugging her shoulders and bringing her closer to him.

She smiles, feeling better about the situation.

"All right. I’ll believe you. Thank you."

"Yes, thank me for not killing him and letting him come closer to you."

She giggles poking his side. Kangki smiles, knowing that his main reason for doing that was to see her smile for him.

While they were traveling, Zin felt the earth shaking. He stops walking to concentrate better and then he feels the earth shaking like a big thing was walking in their direction. He tries the air with his tongue and is sure that something is coming. He walks to Wayde.

"Wayde, I felt something big coming in our direction. I think that there are more than one. Could you hear something from trees or animals nearby?" Zin says, taking everyone’s attention.

Wayde looks up and saw birds flying from the direction they’re going and hears them saying "Fly, fly away from them." repeatedly.

"I’m not sure what it is, but those birds are running away from something." Wayde answers.

"Lets ask Claud to know if we should avoid them or not." Dieg says.

They go to the carriage, and they tell Claud about what Zin sensed. Claud closes his eyes to find whoever is coming their way and he’s shocked with what he sees.

"What? What did you see?" Everyone asks.

"They’re big.. Enormous." Claud answers.

"We need to contour them." Lee assumes immediately.

"However.. Their minds are not evil. They’re two males traveling, but they’re not looking for trouble." Claud says.

"You don’t think we should worry then?" Beau asks.

"No. Remember what Astri said, it’s not bad if they see us. Let’s follow the plan." Claud answers.

They nod, and Astri smiles watching her spouses working well together.

"You might want to let Skalven know. When he senses something coming he might want to change the direction we’re going." Astri says.

Zin goes to tell Skalven about their plan.

"So you want to be known as merchants, but want to be near the Tribe and not the city? And you want to find a house big enough for all of you?" Skalven confirms.

"Yes."

"I don’t come too near the tribe or city, so I don’t know where there are available houses."

"As merchants, having females, and doctors we might find one fast if their leader learns about us."

"I see. That’s why you want to be known. All right. But what about if the beastmen are evil? They will attack us and their size is very dangerous." Skalven reminds Zin.

"We will be fine as long as we keep the plan. If we sense any bad thing, we will leave fast. We might be smaller, but we’re strong enough to defend ourselves."

Skalven thinks that they’re holding too much on the two dragons.

"Lady Astri asked me to be her children’s guardian.." Skalven says.

"Really? I thought she wouldn’t have the courage to ask you now and would take some more days to ask. Welcome to the family then. Just know that doesn’t mean you will be her spouse."

"I know.. If something happens, I’ll take them, including her, to somewhere safe."

"As long as they’re safe. However, you need to understand how we organize their protection. Galion needs to plan how you will be working together with us if something happens. You need to know more about Astri’s capabilities too. She’s a small female, but she’s stronger than any of us here. Especially when the matter is protecting the cubs." Zin explains.

"She.. looks so calm and kind that I can’t imagine her being a danger. However, I can see how much she loves her cubs, and that she has more knowledge than all of you."

Zin is feeling the stomps coming closer, and now Skalven can feel it too, taking their attention to whatever is coming closer.

Everyone but Skalven is amazed at what they see coming in the distance. Two brontosaurus are coming and a triceratops. The brontosaurus are as tall as Cyprian in his dragon form with their long necks, and the triceratops have long sharp horns.

As they got closer, the dinosaurs thought that this group of beastmen was weird. Beastmen that are not dinosaurs prefer not to be near them. They look rich too, by the carriages, something they never saw before.

They keep on walking, side-eying Astri’s group and then they see who is inside the carriage. The children are shocked, Astri and Claud are looking at them fascinated too. Even more Astri, who saw them only in history books from the other world. They’re way bigger than she imagined. Kangki is not as impressed because he had seen this kind of Monster before, not beastmen only.

The triceratops sees Astri and the cubs inside, taking his full attention. He shifts to his human form, showing a large muscled figure, a large face with a strong chin. Astri looks away and closes Yuki’s eyes since he’s naked.

Since the triceratops shifted, the other two also shifted. They’re taller than Cyprian, who’s the tallest of all of Astri’s spouses. And the triceratops is larger than Tyr and Wayde who are the most muscled.

"Hello, travelers! Is there any problem?" Lee walks to them, while the other spouses and guards make a wall to prevent them from coming near the carriage.
