Beastmen: She Tames the Land-Chapter 120: Curing the little cub (2)
Biron and his family stood there in the living room of the house, wondering what they had gotten themselves into. They looked at Lila, who had woken up and was taking a look at her surroundings.
"Do you really think she can help Lila?" Brin asked. He looked down at his sister in his arms.
"I’m not sure." Biron sighed. "We can only hope that what she says is true."
Lara looked at her daughter. Her voice was hopeful as she spoke. "She will help us. Our daughter will be fine."
As Visha walked away from the house. She thought of the family. She knew what her third request was. She wouldn’t tell them until they had spent some time with the pack. If they were willing, they would say it themselves.
She went home. She needed to get a tub from the space. She didn’t need outsiders knowing she had a space. It was enough "create miracles" with her knowledge of herbs. She didn’t need the extra issues.
Taking the sun-dew petals Kaelen had gotten for her, she proceeded to crush the flower. The entire flower could be used for this recipe. She also started to heat water for the little girl’s bath and to make her something to eat.
She had left the family alone to give them time. It didn’t take long for her to get everything together. She made her way to their house again. She needed to tell them about the treatment. There were also precautions they needed to follow.
Placing the tub on the ground, Visha knocked. The door opened immediately. She wondered if they had been waiting by the door for her to come back. She pointed to the tub and told Biron to bring it inside.
Once inside, she noticed the little girl had already woken up.
She was still being held by her brother.
"Hello, little one," she said, her voice calm and gentle. "My name is Visha. You can call me Shasha. Did anyone tell you why you’re here?"
Lila’s eyes were a blue grey that spoke volumes. She was tinged with the innocence of childhood, yet her eyes were weary. It seems their family has visited more than their fair share of places trying to cure her illness.
She didn’t wait for Lila to speak; she knew from her eyes that she wouldn’t. "I’m going to need you to be a brave girl for me." She turned so the tub was visible. "I need you to sit in this tub. It will help you get better, but it will hurt a lot. Do you think you can do that?"
Lila nodded, her head moved slowly. It took a lot of effort on her part.
Visha placed her hand in her pouch. She pulled out three ever-embers. She hadn’t used them since she left the grotto. Right now, she needed them to keep the water at a constant temperature. As she held them, a part of her wished they were heartstone. She would only need one, and she only had to put it under the tub, not in it.
She gestured for Brin to put his sister in the tub.
She spoke to everyone in the room. "This will hurt, but I need her to hold on." Visha placed the herbs in the tub. Everyone watched as the water changed colour. "Put her in."
As soon as Lila touched the water, a small sound left her lips. Brin tried to pull her out, but Visha quickly gripped his hand. "She needs to stay in." Brin glared at her.
"It doesn’t matter how many times you glare at me. She still needs to go in. She either goes in or she dies." Visha’s voice was hard. She wanted them to know the consequences.
Lila was also about to hear what Visha said. Although her movements were small, Visha could see her trying to get out of her brother’s hands and into the water.
"She needs to stay for thirty minutes. In the meantime, we can talk." She pointed them to the furniture that was in the house. Two simple wooden sofas.
"Now that she has started treatment, she can’t stop." Visha’s voice was firm. "The first six suns are the most critical. She needs to be put on a liquid diet. She can’t eat anything except the broth I give her."
Biron’s concern was evident. "Only liquids? For so long? Won’t she waste away?"
"It may seem that way, but trust me when I say this is necessary. Think of it as a blocked path. This is to clear that path."
Lara chimed in, her eyes on her daughter, "What about the pain?"
Visha smiled, "It’s tolerable. She hadn’t cried so far has she? I am trying to make her as comfortable a spossible, but some pain is necessary."
Her eyes scanned Lila’s family. "She needs to do this bath every day at first. After a while, she will only need to do them every other day. We will introduce soft foods into her system."
"In the last phase, she can return to her normal diet. At that time, I will let her have 2 baths. Those will be stronger than her previous baths. After those are finished, she will be a normal little girl able to play and jump around like everyone else."
Biron let out a slow breath. "We understand." his voice was thick with emotion. "We’ll do whatever you say, Priestess Visha."
Thirty minutes passed quickly. Lila finished her bath and also began her liquid diet. Visha once again let them know they were welcome to stay in the house. There is more than enough space for them to rest.
She left the room with the tub. She smiled as she left.
She felt their eyes on her as she left. Visha thought to herself that if everything went well, they might end up staying. She wouldn’t push anything.
Whether they chose to stay, the decision was entirely up to them.
