Beastmen: She Tames the Land-Chapter 145: Boar tribe’s disrespect
As they entered the square, Visha watched the three groups of people. The Cheetah tribe had people who were lean and tall. The Ram tribe was like the Stone-horns, stocky in build, and they were taller than the Stone-horns. For the Boar tribe, their build was similar.
Visha saw a confidence in the boars that she did not see in the cheetahs. Perhaps the cheetahs had endured many struggles to survive now. And with hope on the horizon, they preferred to grab firmly onto hope, rather than being annihilated.
As for the rams, she saw they were a silent people. The three groups did not blend, preferring to keep to themselves. She knew that if these people joined, it might lead to factions being formed. She could already feel the headache starting to form.
It was hard enough managing thirty people with a troublesome rabbit in the mix. Now, they were about to add a whole lot more trouble. She had the idea of setting up departments so that each one had someone to oversee. This person would report to them.
The thought made her smile.
They muttered among themselves while Uri, Xeno, and Visha stood before them. They did not speak; they only watched and waited. They wanted to know how long it would take for them to be quiet.
They did not need those who were unruly and unwilling. They could leave the same way they came.
It did not take long for them to notice the trio standing without speaking. The cheetah tribe leader made a gesture, and those of the cheetah tribe quieted down. Now, it was the rams and boars who were speaking.
The Warm Pack members stood to the side, watching. They spoke in the mind link about the disrespect the different tribes were showing. But they did not voice their opinions. At a meeting during the past two weeks, the trio had told the other pack members what might happen.
They had laughed at first, thinking that people leaving their tribe for no reason was impossible. Now, they were proven wrong. These people left their tribes for information about the howl. Their disrespect, however, made the pack lose any enthusiasm towards them.
It wasn’t until some time had passed that both groups grew restless because no one was speaking, and they decided to be rowdy.
"Oi! I’m here to join your dinghy pack. Hurry up and tell me what I want to know." This was a boar shifter. As with Alin, he held no respect for them.
"All Boar tribe people, leave." Uri’s words held a finality that everyone could detect.
There was shouting and angry words, but no one attacked. It was evident that the boar people were ready to take the place by storm. The Warm Pack was tense and ready for a fight at any moment.
Alin stepped out, "What do you mean, leave? You wanted us here."
Uri’s eyes pierced him, "If you were a leader and people came to your tribe and behaved the way you behaved today. Would you accept them?"
Everyone present heard the question. They knew without a doubt that no one would take in beastmen like them who did not respect their leaders or their home.
"You could have said something. Call out to us. Instead, you choose to throw us out," Alin said, indignant.
"We did. The moment you stepped in, we spoke of your disrespect. You all simply thought it was nonsense and decided my words had no merit."
Alin balked. He remembered the earlier debacle. He had not taken it seriously.
"Since you are unable to respect us, I can only hope that you will leave quietly," Visha stated.
The other two groups watched the scene. They understood that the Warm Pack was serious. They would not tolerate any disrespect. What they thought was a simple matter was far more complicated than anything they had thought.
"If you truly want to join, we won’t stop you from staying. If you don’t want to be here, don’t pretend. Once you join, the only way to leave is death," Xeno said.
They had not intended to say such a thing at first, but things have come to this because of the Boar tribe. They needed to let them know they were not people they could trifle with.
The Cheetah tribe leader spoke first, "Our cheetah tribe is willing to join you."
"Even if it means you will no longer be a leader?" Uri asked sharply. His gaze moved from the leader to the priest. "We will not have multiple priests. Are you willing to accept such a thing?"
Neither of them answered. Uri knew this was a hard thing for them to do. It would appear they had thought they could retain their old leadership.
There was no way Uri would allow that. It would create infighting. He had no intention of allowing such a thing.
"Think about it carefully," Visha stated. "If you all think you want to stay, we will not turn you away. But make no mistake, we are not desperate for members. You are the ones who came willingly."
Visha looked at the people before her. She wanted to give them a probationary period. But, since the howl was so important, they decided to forego this so they could know who was willing to betray without the additional work.
"You are here now, but you have not thought it through. We will give you the time to think. Any further disrespect means you will need to leave," Uri stated. Then he looked at the Boar tribe, "Are you not leaving?"
Alin surveyed the Ram and Cheetah tribe. Neither of them pleaded for him. Even the Ram tribe with whom he had an agreement. They did not say a word.
He scoffed and walked away. Pack members led them back through the gate.
The Cheetah and Ram tribe people amounted to almost 100 people. Visha wondered if they had enough food for everyone.
She was glad that winter had not yet arrived. They could still stockpile for the large number of people.
