Beastmen: She Tames the Land-Chapter 185: Morning talks
Visha woke at ease in the new day. The canopy of the green, the sounds of birds, and the rich scent of earth. This morning, she woke up with a freshness she had not felt for some time. The feeling of being at ease is something she had not had for a while. She only lamented that she would need to leave again soon, but she was glad the pack could function without them.
Uri, Xeno, and Visha head outside together. It was not a usual day for them. Had it been, Uri and Xeno would already be training outside. With the advent of vital energy, they have acknowledged that the training they need differs greatly from before. They need a completely new training plan. Visha also wanted to check the library to make sure they were heading in the right direction.
Today, they needed to sort out everything that had happened in the pack and what was yet to be completed. The moment they stepped outside, activity in the pack ceased. The change in them was such that the pack members couldn’t help staring. Not because they were unfamiliar, but because of how powerful they felt.
For beastmen, some have a natural suppressive effect. This is how people truly know that someone is stronger than themselves. The trio previously had an air of authority. It was obvious they were strong, but the sense of suppression was not evident. This is why people were willing to challenge. But now...
Even the River clan and the Stone-horns could spot the difference. And the physical changes only affirm that leaving afforded them a great encounter. The change was so great that it led the pack members and the two other packs to converse about it the night they came back.
Visha sent a pack link to everyone in the pack. She also had the pack members call the Stone-horns and the River Clan. She did not leave anyone to guard, not because she knew it was safe, but because the moment she stepped into the caldera, she could see it in her mind’s eye. This is the effect of Land Resonance when she had access to vital energy.
It had surprised her at first, but now, she was thankful for it. They would not reduce patrols, but it gave both her and the pack greater freedom. The patrols could be changed based on her mind’s eye.
As they approached the square, they saw the pack members and the people from the other two packs gathering. Stepping up on the platform, they waited for everyone to calm down. They would address all issues. Since the things were not pack secrets, they had no problem letting the Stone-horn and River Clan listen. This includes everyone coming to a decision.
The leaders of the River Clan and Stone-horn tribe were allowed to step onto the platform only because of their status. When everyone calmed down, they began to speak.
"You all have been together for some time now. We hope to address everyone for three reasons. We need to confirm whether the two tribes currently in the caldera hope to return home or are willing to join our pack. Secondly, we need to go to the Ram tribe to get the partners of our comrades. Thirdly, we need to explain to everyone some things that will affect our plans," Uri stated. "Let’s begin."
"River Clan elder, Stone-horn tribe leader, have you discussed with your people what you want to do? We can offer the caldera for the winter period, and after the winter period, you may go back. Or, if you wish, you can stay here, but the prerequisite is that you join us."
"This may sound harsh, but without being a complete pack, we would feel uncomfortable having you stay here for a long period. I hope you can understand."
Uri made their stance known. Now it was time for them to make their own statements.
Gorn was first to speak, "We understand. Our Stone-horn tribe would like to return to our tribe. Though staying has been enriching, it’s best if we go back."
Mira followed, also agreeing with his statement of wanting to go back. However, she brought up the plants that had been terrorizing both tribes.
"We will be more than happy to help you with that," Visha stated.
The crowd wasn’t disbelieving; they had shown that they were more than capable of killing them. For them, it might not even be a fight.
"The second matter is simple," Xeno said. "We intend to leave today. Though we only came back yesterday, we need to leave as soon as possible. We are already in winter. The snow will begin soon. I am sure none of you wants to be away from your partners for too long. We need to make a team. There must be a former Ram tribe member so we can identify the people who need to come with us."
"The people we need are those who are agile and quick on their feet. We need people who can carry heavy loads if necessary and those adept at fighting. We intend to go and be back by the time the first snow starts."
Pack members began muttering about who would go.
"We will leave choosing members up to the hunting leaders, Roc and Crosvil. I’m sure they know better than anyone who would be more suited for this mission," Visha said.
"Now for the last matter at hand," Visha said, silently spreading her authority. The pack member immediately stood at attention. She laced her authority with vital energy, causing the other tribe to calm down as well.
"What we are about to say affects not only our pack but every pack on the continent. We hope you will listen and take everything we say seriously." She turned to look at Xeno and Uri before continuing. "This matter has to do with the changes you have noticed in your leaders and myself. It will shape the way the pack operates. It may also shape the way we interact with others in the future."
