Chapter 189: Imperial Roar

Visha, Uri, and Xeno walked away from Joruk and Hekit. This was not what they had in mind when they first arrived. It was already an issue because they had already heard that Joruk would be difficult to get along with. Now, there is this dome. And the priest, there is obviously something wrong.

When Visha first stepped into the Ram tribe, she felt there was something strange about it, but she kept it to herself. Whether there was an issue with the place was not her business. She came for one thing. When it was completed, she would leave and not look back.

When the priest told her she was different, she didn’t pay heed to it. She thought it was just his observation about her appearance, or he might have been sensitive to their aura. When he mentioned the land blessed her, that’s when she found it strange.

No one has ever mentioned anything like that to her except Krag and Chi. Their knowing was understandable. This priest saying it, it was unsettling.

Using the pack link, they found their people. Everyone was staring at the dome that had covered the tribe. The Ram tribe people themselves were also looking at it. They couldn’t understand why this was happening.

"Are these people willing to leave with us?" Xeno asked.

This was what they wanted to know most. In a crisis, they needed to know who was friend and foe. Along with their own team of seven people, there were another fifteen from the Ram tribe, much less than they expected.

"Yes," Roc answered, face filled with disappointment.

"The others aren’t willing?" Visha asked

"They refuse to leave the Ram tribe. They don’t believe the Warm Pack is as strong as their own. Some have already found other partners to spend the winter with," Roc replied.

"They’re being difficult. Some of them are spoiled. They want their partners to come pick them up before they leave," An older woman spoke up.

"Then, let them stay," Xeno responded. Though he did not know who this woman was, if what she said was correct, he would rather not have such people in the pack.

"Give them a chance," Visha said, touching Xeno’s arm. Turning to Roc, she said, "Quickly find the ones who are missing. Tell them that if they do not come with us now, they will never see their partner again. No one is going to coddle them."

Nodding once, Roc ran to a group of tents. Visha saw him duck into a tent. Were all the missing females in that tent? No matter. If they wanted to stay, that was up to them.

Another ten minutes passed. No one appeared, not even Roc. Xeno was getting anxious. The barrier was keeping them inside. He didn’t like that fact. Coupled with what he heard the priest say about someone coming, he was not in the best mood to wait.

When he finally decided he couldn’t wait any longer, he saw Roc followed by a group of females and cubs. They did not appear happy, but they followed nonetheless.

"It’s good to see you all here," Visha said calmly. "Now, let me explain one thing. We said before we would be leaving tomorrow. Unfortunately, plans have changed, and we will need to leave now."

"How do we leave?" asked the older woman. "We’ve tested the barrier; we can’t go outside it."

"Leave that to us," Visha answered calmly.

She wasn’t sure any of the three of them were able to get them out, but they had to try. The tribe leader and priest were so confident in their barrier that they didn’t bother to chase them. They hadn’t even sent anyone to look for them.

To Visha, this confidence would be their downfall.

While Visha was talking to everyone, Uri had been watching the barrier. He concluded that it was a barrier made of vital energy. If the priest of the Ram tribe had such power, would other tribes have it too?

They had only begun to learn about vital energy. He refused to have his people be worse than others. If there are people who know how to use it, they need to move faster. He needed to talk to Visha about letting the pack learn.

His hand touched the barrier. He tried to use his devouring ability. He hadn’t expected anything to happen, yet it did. When he activated it, he felt the power of the barrier flowing into him. He circulated it as his technique told him.

He could feel the power of the barrier moving through his body, nourishing his organs and muscles. He was so caught up in the feeling that he hadn’t noticed that he closed his eyes.

Xeno and Visha were the ones who noticed. Uri had never been so unguarded before. They stepped closer to him, seeing his eyes closed. Slowly, others began to notice.

"What is he...?" Alair started before Nyx covered her mouth.

Nyx could feel something was happening. Her mind told her that what she saw was familiar. But she felt pain lancing through her mind. She no longer thought about it.

The rest of the group had also been silenced. Though unsure of what was happening, they could tell it was important from the expressions of the people from the Warm Pack. Another five minutes passed, and people began to get restless.

"It’s cold outside, can’t you let us go back in?" a female whined. Others murmured her sentiments.

Before anyone could reply, the priest and tribe leader had walked over. Behind them were several young men from the Ram tribe.

"Honoured guests, are you in such a hurry to leave?" Joruk sneered. "Even if you want to. I don’t believe you can." He chuckled lowly. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"What we want to do is none of your concern. We came to collect our people. Now that we have, we will naturally leave." Xeno countered.

"And how will you leave?" Joruk asked. "Hekit has already contacted our lady; she will be here soon."

"What lady?" Visha asked. "You are the tribe leader. Are you telling me you answer to someone else? Is the Ram tribe not your own?"

Joruk’s eyes flickered. He didn’t answer Visha’s question. Answering would do more harm than good. He is indeed the leader of the Ram tribe, but the lady is above him. She has been looking for the one blessed by the land for so long.

Now that they have found her, they can’t let her leave.

"She is a great benefactor of the Ram tribe. I only have gratitude for her. I am the leader of the Ram tribe, but I must pay my debts."

What Joruk said sounded righteous, but Visha knew he was trying to cover his tracks. No matter what kind of relationship they had, Visha didn’t care. She only knew she would not stay here and wait to be captured.

Uri, who had been standing still with his hand on the barrier, finally opened his eyes. He devoured the last of the barrier’s energy. Like glass shattering, the barrier broke apart.

"No!" yelled Hekit. "How could you?!"

"You want to capture us, but we can’t break a barrier, nonsense?" Xeno countered.

"We need to leave, now," Uri demanded.

"Alair, Nyx, usher them out," Visha ordered.

Both females, moving speedily, were able to get the group out of the Ram tribe. It was not the exit they had in mind, but it was the one they needed to use. Now, there was only the trio and the group of Ram tribe males.

"You must stay," Hekit said forcefully.

He motioned to the young men behind them. He did not believe that with so many people, they would lose. As long as they kept the one blessed by the land, the lady would be happy. The other two are disposable.

Rushing towards them, the trio didn’t make a move. Rather, it was Xeno who moved. He used the skill he had acquired recently, ’Imperial Roar.’ He opened his mouth, and a deep, steady roar sounded.

It stopped them in place. No matter how they gritted their teeth, they were not able to move. Soon, they transformed one by one. The tribe leader and priest watched in horror as their best warriors were forced to shift by one person.

This was the first time Xeno had used his power. And while he had some experience in control, he was not completely there yet. The roar did not last long, but it was enough to force the party to retreat.

Visha breathed a sigh of relief, seeing the result. She also wondered how much stronger it would be when Xeno became stronger. They were only at level 2. She decided that when they returned to the caldera, she would find out how many levels there truly were.

The Ram tribe warriors were kneeling by the time Xeno’s roar had ended. While the Ram tribe was stunned, the trio left.
