Beauty Chairwoman's Bodyguard Expert-Chapter 1725 - 1718: Movements of the Shankou Family
"Grandfather, I understand. However, since those forces are so wary of Jiang Liufeng, wouldn’t it be extremely dangerous for my cousin to meet him on Qin Island this time?" Lu Haoyue did not linger on this topic but instead turned the conversation elsewhere.
"A man standing firm with a sword inevitably faces danger. It’s good for him to go to Qin Island. Let that old fellow Jiang Liufeng see his grandson before he dies; it might prevent him from cursing me after he’s gone for not letting him meet his grandchild. Tomorrow, give Tianxing a call and remind him to take Zhiqing with him when he goes to Jiangnan, so the old guy can see his granddaughter-in-law, and pass on with peace of mind."
"Grandfather, I know. I’ll call my cousin tomorrow."
Lu Haoyue nodded and said, "Grandfather, it’s getting late now. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading back."
"Alright."
Old Sir Lu nodded slightly. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Lu Haoyue said nothing more, bowed slightly to Old Sir Lu, and turned to walk outside.
Old Sir Lu watched Lu Haoyue’s departing back, sighed softly, and gazed into the night with a distant look. Although his power was immense, he could never truly help Lu Tianxing.
Because he was not just one man but represented the entire Lu Family. If anything were to happen to him, the Lu Family could be reduced to ashes; choosing between the palm and the back of the hand is tough. Besides, if Lu Tianxing went to Qin Island and met Jiang Liufeng, it would be tantamount to gaining a formidable ally.
Cangwu, a martial artist at the late stage of mythical power, would not be inferior to anyone under Jiang Liufeng’s guidance. If Cangwu could help Lu Tianxing, then Lu Tianxing would almost certainly face no danger. At least, there would be no worry from the rear.
...
As China was enveloped by night, a brand new day had already dawned far away in the United States.
A ray of sunlight from the eastern sky tore through the night like a sword, casting light through the clouds and awakening the entire city, bringing it to life with bustling activity.
The Morgan Family’s headquarters had once again plunged into busy chaos. The original bloodstained grounds showed no trace of their former state, as plants and flowers, once destroyed by battle, had been replanted and now exuded a faint fragrance, devoid of the smoke of war from days past.
However, everyone within the Morgan Family understood that the Family had changed leadership. The new head, Morgan Angel, had completely taken the helm of the Morgan Family.
At this moment, on one of the Morgan Family’s outdoor balconies, Angel lay on a deck chair, shaded by an umbrella. Beside her, a small table held some drinks, giving the impression of complete leisure at first glance.
After an indeterminate period, soft footsteps suddenly echoed from not far off, as Abby strode confidently toward Angel in high heels.
"Tap!" "Tap!" "Tap!"
The sound of high heels on the ground became clearer as Abby approached.
Although the footsteps were audible, Angel remained still, lying in her chair but slowly raising an arm to pick up a nearby chilled drink, taking a gentle sip.
"Clan Leader."
Abby approached Angel and respectfully addressed her.
But now, Abby addressed her as "Clan Leader" rather than the head, because the Angel Intelligence Station had been integrated into the Morgan Family’s intelligence system, and thus Abby naturally referred to Angel as the Clan Leader.
"Alright."
Hearing Abby’s words, Angel slowly opened her eyes to glance at her and said, "What is it? Is there trouble in China again?"
"Nothing major has happened in China," Abby shook her head and said, "But there are some reports from Japan."
"What news?" Hearing Abby’s words, Angel suddenly sprang from her chair and asked in a deep voice.
"According to what the Judge reported, we focused our investigation on the Shankou Family and found that they seem to have had contact with a mysterious force," Abby said in a low voice. "Also, some time ago, didn’t we investigate a mysterious force heading to China? They were targeting the Shen Family to seize their gene enhancement technology. But from what we’ve discovered, the Shankou Family seized the Shen Family’s research not for themselves, but for this mysterious force, which is why the force went to China."
"You mean the Shankou Family is actually working under this force?"
Angel frowned slightly, her face serious. The Shankou Family was a renowned family in Japan, yet now appeared to be subordinate to this mysterious force, which made her uneasy.
"Indeed." Abby nodded.
Upon hearing Abby’s confirmation, Angel was silent for a moment before speaking again, "Have we discovered the true identity of this mysterious force?"
"No."
Abby shook her head and sighed, "This force is incredibly elusive, leaving not a trace behind. But it’s certain that a mysterious power has always hidden behind the Shankou Family, which they call their master. However, based on what the Judge reported to us, we dare not conduct a forceful investigation into this; key members of the Shankou Family, or those who know of this, likely have voice-activated bombs within them. Given our current understanding of the Shankou Family, we have no way of verifying whether these voice-activated bombs are armed or how to dismantle them. A forced investigation could alert them."
Upon hearing Abby’s report, Angel’s brow furrowed deeply. Alerting the target was the worst fear in intelligence work, and if the information from Lu Tianxing wasn’t coincidental, then it was almost certain that the mysterious force behind the Shankou Family was the Heavenly God. However, even knowing this did not help in finding their whereabouts.
Abby stood quietly by Angel’s side, saying nothing and waiting for her to finish her contemplation.
As time ticked away, a few minutes later, Angel took a deep breath and spoke slowly, "Investigating the force behind the Shankou Family is not urgent. For now, focus your efforts on the Shankou Family themselves, and be cautious—under no circumstances alert them. Understand?"
