Chapter 864 -29 Decision_2

Thus, the four of them maintained their composure, continued to command the United Corps, prepared their defenses, and controlled their emotions to prevent any accidental discharge of weapons.

To their relief, the Tower of the Great Sage Mitchell also continued to pose threats without taking direct action to spark a conflict.

This left room for flexible handling of the situation.

After Dean Frist of Ravensmouth College sent a reply to Link, his actions did not cease there.

He first approached the High Council’s Parallel Universe Office and the Liaison Office for the Immortal God Civilization’s two supreme leaders, expressing his outrage and protest against the provocation from the Tower of the Great Sage Mitchell and urged the High Council’s Parallel Universe Office and the Liaison Office for the Immortal God Civilization to deal with the matter promptly.

Then, Dean Frist reached out to the captain of the six-member action team dispatched by the High Council, Medici Sixth-level Sage.

After a lengthy discussion, Dean Frist persuaded Medici Sage to pressure the Tower of the Great Sage Mitchell to lift the siege on the temporary base of the United Corps as soon as possible.

By employing such multiple approaches, the Tower of the Great Sage Mitchell immediately faced pressure from several departments and factions of the High Council.

The Wizard in charge of command on the Front Line, not daring to act rashly, timely reported the situation to Great Sage Mitchell, who had issued the orders directly.

At this very moment, Great Sage Mitchell was entertaining a distinguished guest.

The guest was none other than Mr. Xu Jing, who had departed the Secret Base of Revosorath Academy and immediately visited Great Sage Mitchell.

“If Great Sage Mitchell is preoccupied with urgent matters, I can visit another time,” Mr. Xu Jing said as he got up from his seat just after settling down, having overheard the relevant report.

He was being very considerate.

“Mr. Xu Jing, please take a seat, and be at ease,” said Great Sage Mitchell, who could not let Mr. Xu Jing leave so abruptly and promptly raised his right hand to stop him in his tracks.

Afterwards, Great Sage Mitchell turned an expressionless face towards the Wizard who had come to report, his eyes indifferent.

The Wizard, a Level Seven Great Sage from the Mitchell Family, bowed apologetically and quickly exited.

“Now we have peace,” said Great Sage Mitchell, his cold face warming into a smile as he spoke to Mr. Xu Jing. “Your visit truly graces us, as your Immortal God Civilization would say,” remarked Great Sage Mitchell.

“Great Sage Mitchell flatters me,” Mr. Xu Jing responded humbly with a smile.

After exchanging a few more pleasantries, they did not waste any more time and smoothly transitioned to the heart of the matter.

Great Sage Mitchell directly asked, “Mr. Xu Jing, since arriving in this universe, I have had numerous interactions with your Immortal God Civilization and the Demon-Beast Civilization. Though I haven’t achieved much, I have learned quite a bit of your languages. As you would say, no one visits without a reason. May I know the purpose of your visit?”

Clearly, Great Sage Mitchell was not boasting.

He truly had learned much of the language and customs of the Immortal God and Demon-Beast Civilizations, and his wording was entirely in accord with their conventions.

“Since Great Sage Mitchell is so forthright, then I will not beat around the bush,” replied Mr. Xu Jing with a slight smile, revealing his true intentions. “I am here to inquire whether Great Sage Mitchell has decided to convert his practice.”

This question rendered Great Sage Mitchell silent.

According to the High Council’s plan, Ninth-Level Great Sages in the Parallel Universe can advance to become Saint-level Wizards after finding the right opportunity.

There are advantages and disadvantages to this approach.

The advantage lies in the fact that the advancement process is not shackled by the Wizard World Will;

The disadvantage is also that the advancement process is not recognized by the Wizard World Will.

Therefore, a Ninth-Level Great Sage who rises to become a Saint in the Parallel Universe cannot return to the universe of Wizard civilization at will.

To return not only required an immense cost, but once back, one could not maintain the position or power of a Saint.

This point was immutable, regardless of human will.

The “conversion” mentioned by Mr. Xu Jing represented another path that the High Council of Wizard’s Civilization might or might not be aware of.

The Immortal God Civilization’s Celestial Court once sent Mr. Xu Jing to visit Great Sage Mitchell, offering a “Divine Enthronement” spot.

As long as Great Sage Mitchell agreed to lead the Tower of the Great Sage Mitchell and wholly turn to the Celestial Court, the Court would fully assist Great Sage Mitchell in converting to the Immortal God System and achieving a status equivalent to a Saint within the Wizard World, becoming a Celestial Master.

The Immortal God Civilization had two paths, “Immortal” and “God”. The former escaped from the constraints of the Three Realms and wasn’t bound by the Five Elements, wandering freely; the latter embraced authority, acting on behalf of heaven, distinctly different from the deities of other universal civilizations.

If Great Sage Mitchell simply nodded in agreement to Mr. Xu Jing and the Celestial Court, it wouldn’t be long before he attained the level of a “God” who is a Celestial Master.

However, Great Sage Mitchell didn’t immediately agree, using the excuse of needing to consider carefully, a consideration that persisted till now.

Now that Mr. Xu Jing brought up the matter again, he clearly held a certain confidence of hearing good news from Great Sage Mitchell.

Great Sage Mitchell remained silent for a long time but could not keep silent forever.

Even though Mr. Xu Jing’s patience was excellent, he always waited quietly.

Gazing deeply into Mr. Xu Jing’s eyes, Great Sage Mitchell spoke with a grave voice, “I think, whether it’s the Immortal God Civilization or the Wizard World, both would probably hate traitors the most. If I were to convert, not only would the Wizard World despise me, the Immortal God Civilization would also look down on me. Even if the Celestial Court keeps its promise, helping me achieve a status akin to a Saint, what of it? In the history of the Wizard World, there have been four Saints who have fallen. Even a Celestial Master can be killed!”

This concern was indeed reasonable.

Mr. Xu Jing could understand this point.

But his mission was not to understand Great Sage Mitchell, but to persuade him.

So, even if he inwardly agreed, Mr. Xu Jing wouldn’t show it on his face, nor would he verbally concur.

Mr. Xu Jing simply said, “Great Sage Mitchell worries too much, conversion is not betrayal. The Celestial Court has agreed, they will not hinder your continued loyalty to the Wizard World, nor your continued service to the Supreme Council after your conversion.”

“Is that so?”

Great Sage Mitchell snorted with a smirk, scoffed and said, “If so, what does the Celestial Court want? A me who is not fully loyal? Loyalty that is not absolute, is absolutely not loyalty!”

Mr. Xu Jing’s face also revealed a smile, but it was a serene one, gentle as water. Calmly, he replied, “What the Saints and Celestial Masters of the Celestial Court seek, in my humble opinion, is probably someone of sufficient weight who can balance the interests of both the Immortal God Civilization and the Wizard World. As you know, Great Sage Mitchell, when it comes to openness, our Immortal God Civilization has already its limits. Yet the Wizard World still imposes restrictions.”

“So, after I convert and successfully advance, you still want me to advocate for the Immortal God Civilization’s interests at the Supreme Council,” Great Sage Mitchell said with a cold laugh.

“The Supreme Council can also, through you, advocate for the Wizard World’s interests in our Immortal God Civilization,” Mr. Xu Jing fluently countered.

In summary, Mr. Xu Jing, on behalf of the Celestial Court, gave Great Sage Mitchell a promise: he was not to oppose, in fact, he was encouraged to keep a foot in both camps, playing both sides for benefit.

In theory, such a good offer was something Great Sage Mitchell had no reason to refuse.

After all, not only could Great Sage Mitchell achieve the status of a Saint/Celestial Master before running out of lifespan, extending his life while elevating his power,

but he could also obtain a pivotal position between the two universes.

Yet, Great Sage Mitchell instinctively felt that such a move was very inappropriate.

Even though he had grown furious with the Supreme Council and had begun to harbor thoughts of breaking away from their control.

Faced with temptation and choice, Great Sage Mitchell vacillated.

Into light or darkness, which path to follow?

In a moment of thought.
