Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Stay with Me Tonight

Late at night.

Justin Kane arrived in Crestfall as quickly as he could, making his way to a high-end club.

The club was in a discreet location with tight security.

But that wasn’t enough to stop the formidable and powerfully connected Justin Kane.

The door opened, cutting off the laughter from within.

Justin Kane glanced coldly inside. "Did you think you could get away with it just by hiding out here to sign the deal?"

The corner of his lip curled, but his eyes were glacial. His powerful aura made him look down upon them all.

"How did you know we were here?"

Seated at the head of the table, Felicia Yates’s face changed drastically. She shot to her feet, glaring at him fiercely.

The sight of him made the two board members exchange a look, a chill running down their spines.

Justin Kane strode in, an invisible, crushing pressure emanating from him.

"All these moves behind my back... Mother, are you trying to destroy The Kane Group..."

His voice trailed off in a frigid, merciless tone, his sinister eyes seeming to be laced with poison, "...or me, your son?"

Felicia Yates’s heart pounded.

"We were just having a casual meeting, catching up."

"That’s right, Mr. Kane. Please, don’t misunderstand."

"We’ve always been completely loyal to the group..."

Justin Kane tapped his fingers on the tabletop a few times.

The two men fell silent.

"Are you two board members dissatisfied with how I’m managing the group?" Justin Kane paused, his gaze sweeping over them like the edge of a knife.

The pair shook their heads frantically, cold sweat unknowingly beading on their foreheads.

Assistant Cheney walked up to them and picked up the documents on the table.

No one dared to stop him. They could only watch as he handed them to Justin Kane.

Felicia Yates swallowed hard, forcing herself to appear calm.

’I can’t believe Justin Kane’s intelligence network is this good.’

’He got here so fast!’

"Mother,"

Justin Kane’s voice was low, his eyes filled with scorn. "Has the Kane Family not treated you well? We’ve tolerated so many of your absurd actions."

"What’s this? Buying up shares for your precious son, so he can inherit The Kane Group?"

Felicia Yates gritted her teeth. "You forced my hand! You’re the one who kicked your own brother out of the subsidiary!"

"Justin Kane, you know perfectly well what you’re trying to do!"

She paused, her eyes narrowing with cunning. "You got close to Nina Thorne for the sake of the Thorne Family, didn’t you?

Once the old man of the Thorne Family dies, you’ll have Nina Thorne wrapped around your finger, and The Thorne Group will be yours. Am I right?"

"My brother? Are you sure about that, Mother?" Justin Kane’s lips curled into a mirthless smile, his crimson eyes staring at her, his face unable to conceal his rage.

"You’ve had it too easy all these years, Mother. That’s why you’ve grown so overconfident."

Justin Kane picked up the documents. As his tall, aloof figure walked out, he left them with a parting threat.

"If you want to go against The Kane Group, you’d better first consider whether you have what it takes."

After Justin Kane left, a few of his men entered.

Assistant Cheney, holding another set of prepared documents, walked up to the two board members, perfectly mimicking Justin Kane’s condescending demeanor.

"Sign this, and Mr. Kane won’t hold tonight’s events against you..."

The two board members wiped the sweat from their brows and signed in a hurry, without a second thought.

Afterward, Assistant Cheney handed a copy to Felicia Yates.

Felicia Yates opened it and her eyes widened in shock.

Her face turned ashen. "Justin Kane, I’m your mother! How could you do this to me?"

She closed her eyes in despair.

After everyone had left, she picked up her phone and made a call. "You have no other way out now. You have to keep Nina Thorne by your side, no matter what it takes."

"If she refuses, use the life-debt she owes you as leverage!"

There was a moment of silence on the other end.

"But I’m not the one who really saved her. Big Brother was..."

Cole Kane said hesitantly, "If she finds out the truth, I’m afraid there will be no chance for me."

"Then don’t let her find out. And even if you can’t keep it a secret forever, you have to make her yours before then." Felicia Yates’s expression turned venomous.

After a long pause, Cole Kane spoke. "I understand."

-

Nina Thorne never expected that Justin Kane wouldn’t come back all night.

He did send her a message in the middle of the night, saying he wouldn’t be back until morning.

She didn’t overthink it; she just wanted to tell him in person that she was going to Vistara.

Now that she was about to leave for the airport, she had to text him instead.

"I’m traveling with the film crew. I have a ten o’clock flight to Vistara today."

After sending the message, she had the driver take her to the airport. She made it all the way through security without seeing a reply.

It was almost time to board.

Nina Thorne thought for a moment and decided to send another text. "I might be gone for half a month."

In half a month, it would be his birthday.

He had said he wanted to announce their marriage at his birthday party.

She didn’t know what Justin Kane would do.

’Will he choose his sweetheart, or will he announce our marriage?’

But no matter which it was, she would accept it calmly.

-

Justin Kane rushed back from Crestfall. Having not slept all night, he dozed off for a while in the car.

He woke up just as they were near the airport.

When he saw the text from Nina Thorne, his expression instantly darkened. He ordered sharply, "Stop the car."

Assistant Cheney was confused.

"Sir, there’s a board meeting at ten."

"Stop the car."

Justin Kane shot him a glacial look that permitted no argument.

Assistant Cheney didn’t dare ask any more questions.

’The boss is this anxious... could it be about his wife?’

’What’s she doing at the airport?’

’Did she run away?’

’This is bad. This is very bad.’

The moment the car stopped, Justin Kane jumped out and rushed into the terminal, heading straight for the departure hall.

He ran, pulling out his phone to call Nina Thorne.

By this point, Nina Thorne was already on the plane, still waiting for a reply to her text.

After repeated reminders from the flight attendant, she switched her phone to airplane mode.

After doing so, she was left with an indescribable feeling.

It was complicated.

Like disappointment, but also sadness, and fear.

She was afraid that he hadn’t come home all night not just because of work, but because he was with his sweetheart.

’He didn’t reply to my messages. Was it because he didn’t want to, or because he couldn’t reply in front of her?’

Nina Thorne couldn’t stop her mind from racing, her thoughts spiraling almost uncontrollably.

What she didn’t know was that Justin Kane had already reached the boarding gate.

At almost the exact same moment.

The plane carrying Nina Thorne began to ascend.

Assistant Cheney arrived, panting, and saw that the plane was already taking off. He spoke, trembling,

"Sir, the plane... it’s taken off."

Justin Kane shot him a cold glance. "I can see that."

Assistant Cheney immediately shut his mouth, not daring to speak.

The air around Justin Kane grew heavy, and a chill seemed to emanate from him.

’Thinking back, Nina Thorne probably wanted to tell me about going to Vistara last night,’ he thought. ’I’m the one who never gave her the chance.’

’That silly girl... seeing that I was out all night, she must be letting her imagination run wild, thinking I went to see some sweetheart.’

"Book a flight."

Justin Kane turned and ordered his assistant, "Book the fastest flight to Vistara."

Assistant Cheney was stunned.

"What about the board meeting?"

"Postpone it."

"..."

Assistant Cheney was speechless.

’The boss is so lovesick!’

’Everyone used to say his wife was the lovesick one, but from what I’m seeing, the boss is the real romantic.’

’They’re a perfect match.’

-

「Two hours later, Nina Thorne arrived at Vistara Airport.」

As she stood outside the airport, about to hail a cab to her hotel, a white luxury van suddenly pulled up in front of her.

The automatic door slid open, and Cole Kane, dressed in loose clothing, got out and stood before her, leaning on a crutch.

"Nina Thorne, what a coincidence."

Cole Kane wore a charming smile, as if their past unpleasantness had never happened. "Heading to your hotel? It’s on my way. I’ll give you a ride."

"No, thank you."

Nina Thorne refused flatly, watching him with wary eyes. "What are you doing here?"

’He’s still causing trouble even with a lame leg.’

"I knew you were coming for the shoot, so I came especially to keep you company."

Cole Kane’s face was full of affection. "While I was in the hospital, I thought a lot about our memories together. Nina Thorne, I don’t want to lose you."

"So, I’ve decided to win you back."

’He’s becoming more and more like a piece of gum I can’t scrape off my shoe.’

Nina Thorne ignored him, not even wanting to speak.

She grabbed her suitcase and walked toward a taxi stand not far ahead.

Limping on his crutch, Cole Kane chased after her. "Taking a cab is a hassle. Can’t you just give me one chance to drive you?"

"There’s no need."

As Nina Thorne was about to hand her suitcase to the taxi driver, Cole Kane grabbed her with his free hand and wouldn’t let go.

"Give me a chance. Let me drive you. I promise I won’t bother you at all."

Despite his crutch, his handsome face still exuded a captivating charm.

Nina Thorne remained unmoved. "You’re bothering me right now," she said coolly. "Let go."

Cole Kane held on, refusing to move.

Finally, seeing the coldness in her eyes, he let go.

Nina Thorne got into the taxi and returned to the hotel booked by the production crew.

The producer, having heard about her last encounter in Vistara, had thoughtfully avoided booking the same hotel.

Nina Thorne picked up her key card from the front desk, went up to her room, and put away her luggage.

She washed her face, then picked up her phone and opened her messages.

Justin Kane had sent her several texts.

"Sorry, my dear Nina Thorne, I just saw your message."

"It’s my fault. I didn’t even know you were leaving for work. You can punish me properly when you get back."

"Don’t be unhappy, Mrs. Kane. I was just away on business, not cheating on you."

"Besides, when a man makes a mistake, you should punish the man, not make yourself miserable."

"..."

At the end of his messages, he sent a sticker of a cartoon boy being beaten black and blue by a girl.

After reading them, Nina Thorne couldn’t help but chuckle.

The gloomy mood that had hung over her all day was instantly cured.

She typed a reply, "In that case, I’ll have to think hard about how to punish you."

"I’ve arrived in Vistara. Everything’s fine."

After sending it, Nina Thorne checked in with the production’s group chat.

Director Aldridge announced in the chat that there would be a meeting with the crew tomorrow morning.

Nina Thorne replied with an "Okay" and went downstairs to buy some daily necessities.

She didn’t like using the ones provided by the hotel.

After buying what she needed from a nearby store, she returned to the hotel entrance.

In the distance, she saw Cole Kane, leaning on his crutch, waiting for her.

He looked like one of those statues of a wife waiting for her husband’s return.

A trace of bitterness passed through Nina Thorne’s heart.

’When I loved him, he ignored me, looked down on me, and trampled on my feelings.’

’Now that I don’t love him anymore, he’s putting on this act of being deeply in love.’

When Cole Kane saw her, his face lit up with joy, and he hobbled over to her on his crutch.

"Nina Thorne, you’re back. I’ve been waiting here for you for almost an hour."

Nina Thorne’s expression remained cold. "And?"

"Have you eaten? Let’s have dinner together." Cole Kane didn’t seem to mind her coldness, his own enthusiasm burning like a fire.

Nina Thorne had no intention of engaging him and started to walk inside.

As she passed him, she suddenly stopped, glanced at him faintly, and said mockingly, "Do you think doing this will move me?"

Cole Kane opened his mouth to speak, but Nina Thorne didn’t give him the chance.

"Because from where I’m standing, you look more like a creepy stalker.

Cole Kane, just because I haven’t brought up the time you deliberately had those drunks harass me doesn’t mean it didn’t happen."

"Stay away from me. I don’t want to see you."

After speaking coldly, Nina Thorne started to enter the hotel.

Cole Kane quickly grabbed her hand. "Do you really hate me this much now?"

Nina Thorne shook off his hand, her expression impassive as she answered without hesitation, "Yes. It would be best if you never appeared in front of me again."

Just as Nina Thorne was about to leave,

Cole Kane said angrily, "Then what about what you owe me? How are you going to repay that?"

Nina Thorne couldn’t help but frown. "What do I owe you?"

"I saved you ten years ago. No matter how you look at it, I’m the one who saved your life."

Cole Kane stared at her, speaking unscrupulously, "You owe me this. If you really want to draw a line between us, fine. But you can repay this debt first."

The color drained from Nina Thorne’s fair face.

She was sick of hearing him call himself her savior. She clenched her fists to suppress the unhappiness rising in her heart.

She wished she could repay this debt as soon as possible, just to stop him from constantly bringing it up and using it to blackmail her time and again.

"How do you want me to repay you?" Nina Thorne asked, her cool gaze sweeping over him, her voice laced with forbearance.

Cole Kane’s handsome face suddenly moved closer, his warm breath ghosting across the side of her neck. "I want you... to spend the night with me..."
