Being Dumped by My EX, I Marriied His Older Brother-Chapter 128: How to Coax an Angry Husband
His gentle, sincere words struck Nina Thorne’s heart when she least expected it.
She had to admit, she was incredibly moved by Justin Kane.
Whether it was love or not no longer seemed important.
She wrapped her arms around him, responding with fervor, "Then let’s give it a try..."
"Justin Kane, I don’t care who it is you love. All I know is that right now, I’m your wife." Nina Thorne paused, a smile on her face.
"You won’t let me lose, right?"
A low chuckle escaped Justin Kane, and his embrace tightened imperceptibly. "I won’t. I definitely won’t."
He spoke as if making a promise, then lowered his head to kiss her hair.
His expression was restrained, yet it couldn’t hide the deep emotion in his eyes.
Nina was held so tightly she could barely breathe, but she couldn’t bear to ask him to let go.
Finally, the car came to a steady stop in front of the hotel.
Justin Kane got out first, walked around to her side, and opened the door. "Mrs. Kane, you must be tired. Go upstairs and get some rest."
The night was serene.
Hotel cars entered one after another, their headlights sweeping across their faces.
Nina Thorne got out of the car, the corners of her lips curling into an unconscious smile. "Okay."
Justin very naturally took her hand, lacing their fingers together as they walked toward the hotel entrance.
They had only taken a few steps when an angry voice rang out, "Nina Thorne!"
Hearing the voice, they both stopped and looked over.
From the voice alone, Nina knew it was Cole Kane.
But now, looking at the face she once found handsome, she felt nothing but impatience. "Are you ever going to stop? Didn’t I make myself perfectly clear?"
Cole rushed over to them in a few quick strides.
He radiated a cold anger as he said resentfully, "We were together for five years. We can’t just break up like this. You have to take responsibility."
"?" Nina was rendered speechless.
She was so angry she had to laugh.
’For five years, he was the one who didn’t cherish our relationship.’
’And now he has the gall to demand I take responsibility?’
"I don’t care what your relationship with my brother is, you’d better break up right now. Nina, I don’t mind what you’ve done recently. Just come back to me." Cole completely ignored the powerfully intimidating Justin Kane standing beside her, lost in his own self-righteous display of affection.
Justin’s expression turned frigid.
"You..." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Nina couldn’t take it anymore and was about to curse Cole out, but Justin gently patted her shoulder and said in a low voice, "You go upstairs first. I’ll handle this."
Nina suppressed her anger and nodded obediently. "Okay, but be quick."
She truly didn’t want to deal with Cole, not even sparing him a glance as she turned to leave.
Watching their intimate display, Cole felt a gaping hole in his chest, so jealous he was about to go mad.
Once Nina was gone, Cole faced Justin directly. "Brother, what will it take for you to give her back to me?"
Justin Kane watched Nina’s retreating figure.
He waited until she had finally entered the hotel lobby and was out of sight.
Only then did he turn to Cole. "What did you say?"
Cole gritted his teeth. "I said, give Nina Thorne back to me!"
In the beginning, he had looked down on her in every way.
Especially her job as a minor screenwriter; he found it utterly embarrassing.
But she was obedient.
For five years, no matter what he asked, Nina would always find a way to do it perfectly.
So even if it wasn’t for the Thorne Family’s business, he was reluctant to let go of a girlfriend who always put him first.
Justin Kane’s eyelids lifted as he glanced at him, letting out a cold sneer. "Give her back?"
His handsome face was a mask of frost.
He strode forward, suddenly swinging a fist. His voice was low and laced with fury. "Is she some kind of commodity? Something you can take when you want and discard when you don’t?"
Cole fell to the ground with the impact, landing hard on the pavement.
Justin stood over him, his dark face looking down. "Don’t you even think about her again. I told you, she is your sister-in-law now."
Those words hit Cole hard.
He licked the corner of his split, bleeding lip, then shot up from the ground to glare at him angrily.
"She was mine from the start! Why did you have to stick your nose in and ruin our relationship, Brother? I already gave you the company. Are you going to steal my woman too?"
Cole roared, his bloodshot eyes full of accusation.
Justin glanced at him coldly, a sneer on his lips. "Whether it’s the company or her, you don’t have what it takes to fight for them now."
Although they were of similar height, Cole seemed a head shorter standing before him.
Justin’s aura was cold and heavy. A sharp glint was hidden in his eyes, radiating an oppressive power that instinctively intimidated others.
Cole knew better than anyone his current position in the Kane Family.
They would rather give a branch company to an outsider to manage than to him.
’Then he couldn’t be blamed for being ruthless.’
"So you admit you seduced Nina? Justin Kane, you’re shameless!"
"Nina was with me for five years. I’ve slept with her so many times she’s worn out. And you probably don’t know, do you? A few days ago, we went to a resort villa. We had a great time that night..."
Cole began to describe it vividly, his face practically begging for another punch.
Justin Kane’s eyes turned sharp as ice.
A murderous glint flashed in their depths.
THUD—
He viciously kicked Cole, sending him sprawling to the ground again.
The kick was full-force, and the pain contorted Cole’s face.
But he thought Justin was bothered by his words and sneered malevolently, "Can’t take it already? Makes sense. You’re the only one who would marry a woman his own brother has worn out!"
"Justin Kane... COUGH..."
Justin planted his foot on Cole’s chest, grinding it down mercilessly a few times. "Do you know why you’re still able to run your mouth?"
Cole coughed from the pain, his ribs feeling as if they were about to be crushed, but he didn’t care, laughing with a crazed paranoia.
"I’m your brother. Are you actually going to kill me?"
"Justin Kane, after tonight, everyone will know that you deliberately seduced your own brother’s woman.
That you’re immoral and ruthless, completely unfit to be the head of the group!"
"Do you really think I wouldn’t dare?" Justin leaned down, staring at Cole’s crazed face, his own expression dark and emotionless.
Cole’s body instantly tensed, a chill spreading down his spine.
"Killing you would be easy."
Justin’s voice was low, making the coldness in his eyes seem even more sinister. "Do you know why I haven’t done it?"
Cole’s face was rigid.
He could clearly feel that Justin was genuinely murderous. The corner of his mouth twitched uncontrollably, and it took him a long moment to find his voice.
"Why?"
"Because..."
Justin’s eyes were deep and cold. He patted Cole’s cheek with his well-defined knuckles. "Death is too easy. It would be letting you off too lightly."
Cole shuddered violently.
An inexplicable fear surged from the bottom of his heart. He asked in disbelief, "We’re brothers. Why do you hate me so much?"
’His mind raced. Could he have found out about what happened with Mother?’
’No!’
’Absolutely not!’
’Only he and his mother knew about that. Besides that, the only thing left is the matter with Nina.’
Justin didn’t answer. Instead, he suddenly pulled a phone from Cole’s pocket and glanced at it.
As expected, the phone was recording.
Cole’s face changed in an instant. "Give it back!"
Why would Justin listen to him? He threw the phone to the ground, quickly got up, and stomped on it viciously, shattering it.
By the time Cole tried to stop him, it was already too late.
The phone screen was smashed to pieces.
"Justin Kane!"
Cole roared and scrambled up from the ground, but the combination of old and new injuries made him extremely uncomfortable. The moment he got angry, a sharp pain shot through his chest.
Justin picked up the phone’s motherboard and tossed it into a nearby fountain.
Cole suppressed his rage, closing his eyes for a moment. When he opened them, he seemed to have guessed something. "You only got close to Nina for the Thorne Family’s business, right?"
Justin shot him a contemptuous glance, his eyes mocking. "Is there anything about you that resembles a member of the Kane Family?"
Cole froze, a strange look flashing in his eyes.
Before he could speak, Justin warned, "You know full well what you did at the resort villa."
Upon hearing this, Cole’s face filled with shock.
But Justin gave him no chance to speak.
"If you don’t want to humiliate yourself, then stay away from Nina Thorne."
Justin’s powerful voice added, "She is my wife."
With that, Justin turned and brushed past him.
Cole was so angry he could have spat blood. His hands were clenched into fists, and he felt as if all the blood in his body was about to boil over.
He couldn’t accept it. He turned and shouted at Justin’s back, "The person Nina loves is me! She loved me for five years! Do you really think that with just a few words,
and one social media post, I’d believe you two are married?"
"I know you want the Thorne Group, and you want to completely push me out of the Kane Family. You listen here, I will expose your true colors."
"I know Nina. As long as I properly apologize and sweet-talk her a little, she’ll definitely come back to me!"
Justin’s dark eyes narrowed slightly as his long legs carried him swiftly away.
Even at this moment, he still didn’t believe that Nina would be with Justin Kane.
Five years ago, they clearly didn’t get along.
Besides, Nina had even told him that she was very afraid of Justin.
How could they possibly have gotten together after five years!
Especially after all the nasty things he had just said. Any man would mind that his woman was "dirty" and had been touched by someone else.
But although Justin had laid a hand on him,
ultimately, what he cared about was the Thorne Family’s business, not Nina herself!
Upstairs, Nina had finished washing up long ago and had been waiting for him on the sofa.
Hearing the beep of a key card at the door, she stood up happily and looked toward the entrance.
"You’re back."
Nina studied his expression as he walked over to her.
"Have you been waiting long?"
Justin hugged her, his gentle expression showing no trace of his earlier ferocity. "I’m going to take a shower, then we can turn in early."
Nina held his hand, wanting to ask something.
Just then, she noticed the skin on his knuckles was split open, and her heart leaped into her throat. "You two fought? Did he say something awful?"
Otherwise, a man as calm and self-possessed as Justin would never resort to violence so easily.
Justin smiled and stroked her face. "He was pestering you relentlessly. He deserved a beating."
Nina frowned and took a breath. "You should treat your wound."
"It’s nothing, just a scratch."
Justin teased her gently, "As long as Mrs. Kane is worried about me and not someone else, I’ll be fine."
Nina knew who he was referring to and said with a mock glare, "Of course I’m worried about you. You’re my husband."
She put on a straight face, feigning anger. "If you’re so insecure, why don’t we just skip waiting for my birthday to announce it? I’ll post on social media right now and show off our marriage certificate..."
As she spoke, she bent down to grab her phone from the sofa.
Justin quite enjoyed seeing her all puffed up with indignation. He placed his hand over hers on the phone. "It’s fine, we’ll wait for the official announcement. Mrs. Kane, I trust you."
With that, he kissed her forehead again and headed to the bathroom.
Soon, the sound of splashing water came from inside.
Nina had a vague feeling that something was on his mind.
After a moment’s thought, she opened an AI app and searched: "How to cheer up a husband who’s in a bad mood?"
