Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 361: Rule Breaker Antics
Apparently, Arthur had muted the Galaxy Sword’s voice entirely, so not a single word reached his ears, allowing him to continue his conversation with his companion undisturbed as she casually fed him grapes.
[Lostvayneeee... Oh, Lostvayne... Come on, don’t be like that. You used to talk to me, remember? Back in the good old days. Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten?] 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
[Still not answering, huh? Alright, fine. But you know what? I could reveal one of your embarrassing little secrets... Just one. Like that one you told me, Starbreaker and Eclipsion to never tell a soul about. Does your master know? He doesn’t, right?]
At this, Chrono, who had been ignoring the Galaxy Sword’s chatter, turned towards them, his tone one of warning.
[That would be most unwise—]
But he was a second too late.
[Back when you thought it was a good idea to—!]
Cosmic energy rapidly gathered, and in an instant, a hand materialised from thin air, grabbing the Galaxy Sword’s face and slamming their head onto the wall behind them.
Then, the rest of the body materialised, revealing the appearance of a woman with straight silver-streaked black hair and crimson eyes, dressed in a form-fitting bodysuit with crimson accents.
[That’s enough out of you.]
She spoke coldly, and at the sight of her, the Galaxy Sword’s eyes widened. They wrenched her hand off their mouth and gasped theatrically, shouting,
[Lostvayne became a girl!?]
[I can switch forms like you, you fool.]
Lostvayne rolled her eyes with an exasperated sigh, then turned to Jamie and asked.
[Can you rein in this chatterbox?]
[How rude! I’ll have you know I’m the quietest Rule Breaker around!]
[...]
"..."
Silence followed Galaxy’s words, and Lostvayne, Jamie, Alexia, and even Chrono, who had just dismissed the servants, all turned toward the Galaxy Sword with deadpan gazes that seemed to ask,
Why the hell you lying?
Lostvayne, seemingly fed up with the Galaxy’s antics, tossed them across the room towards Jamie.
[Deal with that thing, please.]
But just as her humanoid form began to turn translucent, a sign that it was about to disappear, a pair of arms suddenly wrapped around her waist, gripping her tightly.
This interrupted her humanoid transformation’s cancellation, and at this, Lostvayne’s expression shifted from her resting blank face to one of shock, with a tinge of fear.
[Lady Celestia?!]
[Hehehe! I got you!]
Turning, Lostvayne met the impish grin of the woman now holding her, the humanoid transformed form of Arthur’s other Ego Weapon, the one he called ’Celestia.’
[You don’t appreciate the beauty material that is your humanoid form, but I do, and I’ll help you appreciate it.]
[I am a Weapon. The only appearance I care about is my original one as a sword, so no, I don’t need the appreciation!]
[Don’t worry, it won’t take long. I’ll make you veryyy pretty.]
Celestia tightened her grip on Lostvayne, her own power interfering and preventing Lostvayne from returning to sword form. She then turned to Alexia with a beaming smile.
[Alexia! We’re gonna use your dressing room.]
"Use the one on the fifth floor."
[Okay!]
[Wait, Lady Celestia! I never consented to this!]
Lostvayne protested, but Celestia was already dragging her out of the room.
The Galaxy Sword, jumping up enthusiastically, followed.
[I wanna come too!]
[You can be my assistant! Off we go!]
Celestia declared, and like that, the three Ego Weapons left the room, returning silence to the place.
After a while, Arthur spoke.
"It’s crazy, right? The range of personalities on these Ego Weapons."
"Tell me about it," Jamie muttered with a sigh. When the Galaxy Sword wasn’t sleeping or off doing who-knows-what, they were such a chatterbox that even Jamie couldn’t keep up.
"You lucked out, Alexia. Chrono’s a quiet guy."
Arthur said this, and Alexia chuckled.
"The Galaxy Sword is pretty tame, no? Compared to some of the others out there."
Her words stirred a few memories for Arthur, his expression growing slightly tense as he replied.
"I’ll take a chatterbox over those crazies any day."
Just as he said that, Chrono, who had been silently observing to make sure the other three Ego Weapons didn’t wander into any restricted areas, turned to Alexia and spoke.
[I’ll be excusing myself now.]
"Hmm? Oh, yeah. Go ahead."
As she gave the go-ahead, Chrono turned to Sarina and added,
[Shall we relocate?]
The two of them had much to discuss, and so did Arthur, Jamie, and Alexia, so Chrono figured it would be best to move elsewhere.
On a side note, the second woman who had arrived with Arthur, Layla, was currently in another part of the Castle, spending time with others she was more familiar with.
When Sarina and Chrono left, Jamie turned his gaze to Arthur, voicing his curiosity about something that had been said earlier.
"Arthur, you mentioned something about Akasha’s cronies. What kind of mess did you get yourselves into?"
"Ah, that? Well, I was just minding my business when one blasted Evil Dragon from the Dark Multiverse decided to attack me for his own ’entertainment’."
Arthur didn’t name the dragon, but everyone present knew exactly which one he meant.
"The whole thing turned into one big mess because that damned dragon was too strong. In the process of trying not to die, I ended up glitching a few Cosmic Systems, unlocked some crazy power-up, and things just went downhill from there.
I went berserk, Akasha and Roland tried to ’neutralise’ me, and Alexia, thanks to Chrono’s power, stopped things from reaching the worst possible outcome."
Arthur’s vague summary of events left Jamie equal parts intrigued and baffled.
"Akasha and Roland got on your case? Just what the hell did you do while berserk?"
"I don’t know, man. I was berserk, remember?
Akasha tried to resolve things in a way that would’ve left him with control over certain powers of mine, and Alexia stopped that from happening. That landed her on Akasha’s naughty list since it gave me full control of my powers instead."
Hearing how Akasha had tried to handle the incident wasn’t surprising to Jamie, after all, he and everyone of repute on the Cosmic Stage knew that Akasha was a control freak.
"You know how petty Akasha can be, right? He also has a habit of dragging other Eternals into his business. I don’t want him stirring up anything with Alexia, especially since she’s still getting her affairs here in order."
Arthur’s words immediately drew a response from Alexia.
"I’ve told you multiple times, Arthur. Akasha can’t do anything to me right now."
"Alexia, sometimes emotions override reason. Even Akasha, with all his so-called wisdom, isn’t beyond emotions. Even if he can’t act directly, he could have one of his subordinates do something and claim he had nothing to do with it."
"Don’t worry about that. Akasha’s subordinates would be walking into their deaths if they tried anything.
There are plenty of Akasha’s enemies who’d jump at the chance to get back at him, even if it’s just by roughing up a few of his underlings. I have a few of them on speed dial.
If he wants to play the ’I had nothing to do with it’ card, then he can’t retaliate when they make a move either, otherwise, he’s the one who’ll be in for a hard time."
Alexia’s calm response came as she stirred the tea in front of her, her other hand dropping sugar cubes into the liquid.
Meanwhile, Jamie, reclining on his cushion and sipping his own drink, muttered,
"Well, you were bound to end up on Akasha’s hit list eventually. The guy despises singularities, and anyone associated with them usually ends up hated by extension.
It’s even worse in my case since I blocked him from getting his hands on more than a dozen Rule Breakers while holding a Single-Digit one myself."
Glancing directly at Arthur, he added,
"And you have Lostvayne, the one he failed to obtain even after killing Lucifer. The two of you were destined to be enemies. Given how close you and Alexia are, she was going to get dragged in regardless."
At that, Arthur stretched his arms and replied,
"Well, that still doesn’t make it any less annoying. The guy’s a royal pain in the behind I’d love nothing more than to be done with."
"As are most of the Eternals," Jamie remarked.
"Some of them are tolerable. The rest make me want to punch them in the face. And surprisingly, Roland isn’t on that list.
Who would’ve thought the day would come when a Singularity isn’t at odds with the Governor of Causality?"
Arthur muttered the words like he couldn’t quite believe it himself, and Jamie simply laughed along.
Just then, the concentration of ambient cosmic energy abruptly spiked, causing Alexia, Jamie, and Nicole to freeze, their gazes instantly snapping toward the general direction of the surplus energy’s source.
Alexia sighed and raised her hand, summoning a floating interface panel which she used to type out a command for her Empire’s Military to prevent any reactionary measures that would only escalate the situation.
Arthur, who also understood the source of this sudden influx, spoke calmly.
"Elaine. Have you located them?"
A voice echoed through the room in response.
[Yes. It’s quite far out, but if we leave today, we should arrive in two 24-hour-day weeks.]
Hearing this, Arthur nodded.
"Hmm. That’s not as far as I expected. Very well then. Get Layla. We’re leaving soon."
As he gave the order, the presence behind the voice quietly withdrew, and Jamie immediately asked.
"Who was that?"
He was equally confused and curious, understandably so, because even though he could hear the voice clearly, he couldn’t pinpoint its source.
