Big Data Cultivation-Chapter 540 - : The Deal
Chapter 540: Chapter 540: The Deal
Although Shangguan Yunjin had discerned Feng Jun’s thoughts, in the time that followed, she still had to thoroughly understand the differences within the three tiers of the Contribution Point System.
Without going into detail, Feng Jun gave two distinctions, “standalone version and networked version, with backup and without backup.”
However, this was not something that was nonnegotiable. He thought that talking only about Spirit Stones was rather dull. Why don’t you exchange something for it? I am not particularly keen on Spirit Stones.
The condition he set forth was that he hoped to obtain a Spirit Gathering Array—a High-Rank one that even cultivators at the threshold of ascension could cultivate—both the Array Plate and the Formation were acceptable.
“High-Rank ascendancy… huh,” Shangguan Yunjin didn’t know how to comment on this demand and could only force a bitter laugh, “Such formations, there are only about ten or so in the entire Wuyou Platform, and it is strictly prohibited to sell them to Loose Cultivators; after all, beyond High-Rank ascendancy is the realm of the Golden Core Master.”
This wasn’t discrimination against Loose Cultivators, rather, such items had risen to the level of strategic resources. Old established powers could still share resources among themselves, while for the newly risen forces, it was basically out of the question.
...
Feng Jun thought for a moment, then inquired, “What about Intermediate Level ascendancy? Is this kind of Spirit Gathering Array difficult to come by?”
“Intermediate Level is somewhat easier,” Shangguan Yunjin nodded, “But how to put it? Such a Spirit Gathering Array could establish the foundation for a small Cultivation Clan in the Cultivation World.”
“The foundation lies with people, not in these external things,” Feng Jun rebuffed her without hesitation, “If there really were an Intermediate Level cultivator founding a Clan, getting such a Spirit Gathering Array wouldn’t be an issue… Never mind, since you find it troublesome, could you help me pass a message to the Ten Directions Platform?”
The Ten Directions Platform was also one of the Wutai, and compared to the other four, they were most famous for being adept at doing business!
South, East, West, and North, as well as Southeast, Northeast, Southwest, Northwest, combined with Heaven and Earth, these are the Ten Directions.
Which is to say, the Ten Directions Platform welcomes all cultivators to visit them, whether it be to leisurely hang out or set up a stall to sell goods.
It is said that the initial intention of the Ten Directions Platform wasn’t focused on trade; they wanted to attract more cultivators to discuss the Dao and to make their territory the hub for a ‘Sacred Land of Path Discourse’ or the like.
However, their desire to monopolize the discourse on the Dao had to be agreed upon by others—’Are you saying that the Dao can be discussed at your place but not mine?’
This positioning had some discrepancies, but as the flow of people greatly increased and more participated in the buying and selling, it unexpectedly turned into a trading center.
Latterly, this phenomenon also aroused dissatisfaction among other powers—the majority of price standards were coming from the Ten Directions Platform.
The financial system of this plane was not particularly developed, but the sensitivity of having pricing power was still palpable to everyone.
‘Why should you set the price for the goods produced by my family?’
To this day, every force has its own trading market, which includes internal transactions within sects, as well as those open to outsiders.
But the Ten Directions Platform has been engaged in this business for too long and has accumulated enough to the point where many of the major merchants in the Cultivation World either originated from the Ten Directions Platform or have connections with it.
Feng Jun meant: if you are not interested, I could sell it to the Ten Directions Platform.
Although the Ten Directions Platform is a Cultivation organization, there are too many businessmen, and the business operations model leads to a common phenomenon: as long as the Spirit Stones are sufficient, there’s nothing that can’t be sold.
And in their hands, they really do have a lot of good things, occasionally holding auctions and such.
Shangguan Yunjin suddenly became pensive, knowing the Ten Directions Platform as she did, an Intermediate Level Spirit Gathering Array… those guys would truly dare to sell it—they might even dare to sell High-Rank ones since there wasn’t much difference between the two.
After a moment, she nodded, “I can pass on this message, but I can’t guarantee whether they will sell it to you or not.”
“It’s good enough if the message gets through,” Feng Jun said with a smile, “It’s not my loss if they don’t sell.”
Shangguan Yunjin nodded. Things like Spirit Formations were rarely forced upon anyone. However, thinking about it, she became curious again, “It seems that after arriving here, I have not seen Brother Feng use a Spirit Gathering Array.”
This question was not so simple; she actually wanted to use this opportunity to subtly probe and understand the other party’s real cultivation level.
She could determine Brother Feng’s actual cultivation level with an accuracy of up to ninety percent, but the act of testing was easily detectable, which would be provoking.
She didn’t want to deliberately provoke him, so she asked such a question, waiting to see how he would respond.
“My Spirit Gathering Array is different from yours,” Feng Jun’s reply didn’t clear her doubts but instead added a new layer, “The principle might be similar but… I can’t let you see it.”
Before Shangguan Yunjin could speak, Wang Botai beside her objected, “There are other principles to Spirit Gathering Arrays? Brother Feng, my sister may be ignorant, but you can’t just deceive her like that.”
In recent days, he had indeed learned some peculiar terms from Brother Feng, but the words “to deceive” were also quite fitting.
Before Feng Jun could respond, Shangguan Yunjin grew angry, “I am ignorant? Brother Botai, do you realize what crime it is to belittle fellow sect members?”
Wang Botai hastily pointed at Feng Jun and chuckled nervously, “I was talking about his ignorance, Sister Shangguan, you misunderstood.”
Feng Jun offered a faint smile, “I could easily set up a Spirit Gathering Array for you, but… the law must not be transmitted lightly.”
“You, you, you set it up,” Wang Botai couldn’t take it anymore, “If you can set up a Spirit Gathering Array that is unprecedented, I’ll let you do whatever you want with me.”
Feng Jun glanced at him indifferently, “Strange, why would I need to deal with you? Don’t trick me into doing it either.”
Wang Botai was really serious now, “If you can truly set it up, I’ll help you borrow an Intermediate Level Spirit Gathering Array from out of the dust… I can’t say I’d buy one, but lending it to you for three to five years wouldn’t be a problem.”
Feng Jun stared at him for a while, then cracked a slight smile, “Alright, I believe you have that capability. Am I not allowed to brag a bit?”
Those words were said with such a lack of sincerity that Wang Botai became even more annoyed, “If you don’t trust me, I’ll get Elder Brother Pan to be a witness. Elder Brother Pan is a modest man, but he’s quite wealthy…”
Before long, Craftman Pan was brought over, even holding a chisel in his hand, covered in dust from head to toe, clearly in the midst of his “Worldly Trials.” He looked confused, “What do you need me for?”
Upon hearing that Feng Jun could set up a new type of Spirit Gathering Array, he was also quite curious. However, after pondering for a moment, he still said, “I know how to use a Spirit Gathering Array, but I’m not very familiar with it, so I can’t bear witness for you guys.”
“Elder Brother…” Wang Botai desperately winked at him, “I can help with the appraisal.”
“What use is it for you to help with the appraisal?” Pan Renjie glanced at him irritably, “Even if it’s a new Spirit Gathering Array, it costs a lot more, it’s not economical… What’s the use?”
“That…” Wang Botai twitched the corner of his mouth, thinking to himself that he just wanted to understand the thought process behind Feng Jun’s Spirit Gathering Array. If it really was a novel approach, we could learn a lot from it.
He was proficient in Artifact Crafting, not in Formation design, with only a rudimentary understanding. However, he was very clear that a fresh approach could bring about a revolutionary change.

So he hesitated and looked at Feng Jun, “Is your Spirit Gathering Array more expensive than ours, or cheaper?”
If it was more expensive, he would have to consider. But if it was cheaper than the existing ones, then there would be nothing to discuss.
Feng Jun smiled faintly, “If it’s cheaper, will you give me an Intermediate Level Spirit Gathering Array from out of the dust?”
“Giving is out of the question,” Wang Botai shook his head firmly, “I can only lend it.”
Feng Jun responded just as firmly, “If it’s only a loan, then you mustn’t watch as I set up the Formation.”
Wang Botai nodded briskly, “No problem, just set it up well.”
“So much talk, and you’re not the one in charge,” Feng Jun stabbed at him rudely, then turned to Pan Renjie, “I only have one question for Elder Brother Pan, are you willing to vouch for me or not?”
Pan Renjie pondered for a while before saying, “What level of Spirit Gathering Array do you plan to set up, Fellow Daoist Feng?”
“I don’t understand the high ones,” Feng Jun said with a smile, then proposed, “I see that the Array Plate that Yu Daoist friend is holding is capable of accommodating the cultivation of two Mid-stage Qi Refiners… how about I set up something similar?”
“That’s not fair,” Wang Botai protested, “I help you borrow an Intermediate Level Spirit Gathering Array, and you only set up a Mid-stage Qi Refining one? Fellow Daoist Feng, do you think that’s appropriate?”
Pan Renjie thought for a moment and nodded, “Indeed, it seems a bit inappropriate.”
“Wang Elder Brother!” Shangguan Yunjin was really exasperated, “I’m not trying to bend the rules, but Fellow Daoist Feng is going to set up a brand new, economically viable Spirit Gathering Array… If you can’t afford to bet, don’t embarrass our Wuyou Platform, okay?”
To tell the truth, cultivators’ conversations are quite direct; there isn’t much beating around the bush.
She’s done a lot of business, but she doesn’t swindle; she still values her reputation.
Feng Jun blinked, “Since we can’t agree… then let’s forget it?”
His Analytical Gathering Spirit Formation had almost served its historical mission by now; he was already close to the peak of the Qi Refining Sixth Layer.
Although the Heaven-Swallowing Formation was excellent in gathering Spiritual Energy and could possibly allow him to break through to the Qi Refining Seventh Layer, or even reach the Ninth Layer, there was no doubt… the Spirit Gathering Array needed to be upgraded.
If an upgrade was necessary, the previously analyzed Spirit Gathering Array could be shown to others; after all, one could not catch the wolf without risking the lamb. Without sufficient bargaining chips, why would anyone trade with you?
“Don’t do that,” Shangguan Yunjin hurriedly interjected, then looked at the two Elder Brothers, “If we can get our hands on a cheap Spirit Gathering Array… we can make them and sell them, right? That could be a big deal.”
“If it’s such a big deal, wouldn’t Fellow Daoist Feng sell it himself?” Pan Renjie shook his head with a smile that was both crying and laughing, “Junior Sister, you’re overthinking it.”
“Fellow Daoist Feng is not familiar with our place, which could be inconvenient for him,” Shangguan Yunjin argued confidently, “Just like when we do business, we generally can’t compete with the Ten Directions Platform… everyone has their own strengths, right?”
Then she looked at Feng Jun, “Fellow Daoist Feng’s Spirit Gathering Array will surely be cheap… right?”
Feng Jun nodded with a smile, “Definitely cheaper, but whether you can sell it or not is none of my concern.”
Wang Botai answered with full confidence, “As long as it’s cheap, how could it possibly not sell?”
