Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 839 - 699: A Turbulent Autumn (Second Update)
Tong Airui came in without saying a word and went straight to the study. Yi Luowa pouted. Tong Airui was so tense; this must not be a small matter.
Yi Luowa furrowed her brow slightly and was about to go in when Youyou and Joyina led a group of "little monks" running down from upstairs.
The children rushed to Yi Luowa, calling her "Aunt" and "Auntie." Yi Luowa smiled and patted each of their heads, "So good! Auntie brought back lots and lots of gifts for you. Shall we go see the gifts?"
"Yes——"
Yi Luowa turned to Kou’er, "Have all the gifts been brought down?"
"They were just delivered to the side hall."
Yi Luowa stood up with a smile, "Come on, kids."
The children followed Yi Luowa into the side hall. Yi Luowa opened several big suitcases, letting the children choose the gifts they liked.
Ziheng chose a iron armored warrior and sat on the floor to play with it. Yi Luowa glanced at the door and sat down next to Ziheng, "Ziheng, have mom and dad had time to play with you these days?"
Ziheng shook his head, "I haven’t seen dad for three days."
Zibin crawled over, looked up at Yi Luowa, "Mom hasn’t paid attention to us either."
"What are mom and dad busy with?"
"Catching scammers!" Zibin crinkled his little nose and took the iron armored warrior from his brother’s hand.
Ziheng pressed his lips together, wanting to get angry, but held back.
Yi Luowa took another iron armored warrior from another suitcase, "Auntie knows you all like these, so I bought seven or eight in one go, each of you has one."
"Thank you, Auntie." Ziheng smiled and accepted it.
"Ziheng, dad went to catch scammers?"
Ziheng nodded vigorously.
Yu Lin came over holding several toys, "Auntie, my dad went too." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Yi Luowa smiled, "Dad and your Fifth Uncle went to catch scammers?"
Yu Lin nodded.
Yu Xiao somersaulted over, "Fourth Auntie, my dad went to catch bad guys."
Yi Luowa pinched his little face with a smile, "With dads being so brave, you’ll definitely be outstanding too. So, who can tell me who the scammers and bad guys are?"
Connie and Youyou stood at the door, exchanging a glance. Youyou frowned and said, "Fifth Sister-in-law, my sister has to know about this sooner or later, just tell her."
Connie sighed, "Sister-in-law, stop asking the kids, how much could they possibly know? Let me talk to you."
"Don’t underestimate the kids. At least I know something happened in our family." Yi Luowa stood up, "When I asked, you wouldn’t say anything, but now you want to tell me?"
"You just got back..." Connie reached out and pulled Yi Luowa out of the room, "Youyou, keep an eye on them."
"Okay." Youyou entered the side hall, nudging their little bottoms, "Listen to me, no making a fuss or fighting, and when Joyina brings Pengpeng over, you all need to get along peacefully!"
The children pouted and looked at her, then continued playing with their toys.
Outside, Yi Luowa and Connie walked out. Connie pursed her lips, "Sister-in-law, the finance director fled with the money."
Yi Luowa was taken aback, "How much did he take?"
"Three billion." Connie sighed lowly, "This money was settled from Haotian’s side. I saw the remittance at the time, but by morning, the money was transferred to another account. We’ve been searching for the finance director’s whereabouts ever since."
Yi Luowa patted her on the shoulder, "Don’t worry, I can’t believe he can escape our family’s grasp."
Connie lowered her head in guilt, "Sister-in-law, I’m not worried, I’m feeling guilty. You all trusted me so much, yet I still caused trouble."
"Don’t blame yourself so much. It’s just some money. I’ll make up for it first, so mom and dad, and aunt and uncle don’t find out. We’ll find him slowly; I don’t believe we won’t find him."
Connie quickly said, "Sister-in-law, you don’t need to use your money. I’ve already covered it with mine, but I still feel I’ve let everyone down. Lately, for some reason, my brain just doesn’t seem to work right."
"This is partly my fault too. This is our family business, but I’ve been gone for a month, leaving all three kids with you, adding to your stress, naturally."
"Ziyan, the three of them are very sensible. Besides, Dad, Mom, Second Uncle, and Ni Lu Aunt are all at home, I don’t have to worry about them. I feel like I’m getting old and dull. Even though Aino didn’t say anything to me, it still makes me feel worse than if she had. Once this matter is dealt with, I’m going to submit my resignation."
Yi Luowa laughed and gave her a light pat, "Is this such a big deal? Is it worth resigning over? Your brother is back, isn’t he? The few of them will join forces and find the person soon. By the way, nothing’s wrong with my Second Uncle, right?"
"Second Uncle is having a bit of trouble too. A batch of racing cars sent to T Country had brake pad issues. Huo Li and Second Uncle went there for a couple of days, but they haven’t found any clues."
Yi Luowa frowned slightly, "I told you, if nothing happened, Huo Li would have come over already. What’s going on now? One incident after another."
"Who wouldn’t say so, sigh... Just thinking about it is distressing."
"Don’t be distressed. No matter what happens, we must not lose our composure." Yi Luowa earnestly comforted Connie for a while, and after Pengpeng arrived, they changed the subject.
Pengpeng walked straight into the side hall, and Joyina said with a troubled face, "I called Shanshan earlier to tell her you’re back. Shanshan said that there was an issue at a hospital in Z Country, and she and Old Seven went to handle it. Pengpeng will be staying with us for a few days."
Yi Luowa’s eyes darkened slightly, "Didn’t they say what kind of accident it was?"
"Not in detail. It seems like they transfused the wrong blood, leading to a patient’s death."
Yi Luowa bit her lip, "It’s not even autumn yet, and our family seems to be having a busy season. What’s really going wrong?"
"We haven’t worshipped our ancestors." Youyou muttered at the doorway of the side hall.
"One thing keeps happening after another. If this gets to my dad and uncle’s ears, they’ll have no peace to enjoy outside." Joyina forcefully tapped her forehead, "I’m the least useful person in this family. Luowa, you’re the smartest in our family; tell me what to do, and I’ll do it."
"Do nothing, or else the more you do, the more mistakes you’ll make." Yi Luowa slightly furrowed her brow, "There’s the Leng family and the Jimo family on Old Seven’s side, it won’t turn into a big mess. I’ll call Young Master Kang in a while to ask him to look out for it."
"Joyina, the movie you’re planning, I suggest you don’t start filming for now to avoid further trouble. The priority now is figuring out what’s up with the director who fled with funds. Once we capture him, it’ll serve as a warning to others in the company."
Joyina nodded, "Alright, I’ll listen to you. I’ll just stay home with the kids these days. If you need me to do anything else, just let me know."
Yi Luowa laughed, "We don’t need to do anything because the men in our family are all capable! Your main task these days is to be with the kids. Come on, let’s go to the kitchen and see what’s cooking. If it’s not to your liking, I’ll treat you to a meal outside."
Seeing her remaining so calm, Connie smiled and said, "Sis-in-law, now that you’re back, we have someone to rely on."
"Absolutely!" Yi Luowa smiled as she entered the kitchen.
The family had one issue after another. Yi Luowa’s face remained calm, but inside, she was deeply concerned. After entering the kitchen and seeing that lunch was plentiful, she went upstairs under the pretense of finding an excuse.
Back in the bedroom, she didn’t even have time to change her clothes before calling Young Master Kang.
Young Master Kang laughed after she finished speaking, "Luowa, don’t worry, Maize Kai is my niece’s husband; I won’t ignore it."
"Brother Kang, thank you. It’s a bit of an overkill asking you to handle this, but in Z Country, you’re the only one I know."
"Don’t be so polite, it’s good that you came to me. Mo Bao and Shanshan didn’t say anything to me about this. I’ll arrange for the people below to handle this now."
"They probably think it’s too small a matter to bother you with... Brother Kang, I’m asking you to handle this not to shirk responsibility; I’ll pay whatever compensation is needed, as long as the impact is minimized."
"I understand what you mean."
Yi Luowa thanked Leng Chukang and then called Dean. When Dean picked up the call, he laughed, "Luowa, I heard from Bert you’re back today. Are you home yet?"
"I’m home, just back and already dealing with some troubles."
"What’s going on?"
"My Second Uncle is in T Country; I’ve heard there are issues with his batch of racing cars. I remember Huo Li said you helped with this business. Dean, help me to follow up?"
Dean laughed, "This is the first time you’re asking me for help. Don’t worry, I’ll handle it well."
"I won’t say thank you to you, but I can bribe you. I brought gifts for you, Auntie, and Sister-in-law; I’ll deliver them to you tomorrow."
"Haha... I’ll go complain to my dad, tell him the First Lady is bribing me."
Yi Luowa laughed, "You go and complain. By the way, do you have Huo Li’s phone number? You’ll need to ask her about the details."
"I have her number. Luowa, I’ll contact Huo Li first."
"Alright."
Yi Luowa hung up, and with a single glance saw Tong Airui standing right behind her.
Yi Luowa patted her chest, "You nearly scared me to death! How is the situation with Zhuoyuan?"
