(BL)Alpha Made-Chapter 230: It’s not what everyone is thinking
Chapter 230: It’s not what everyone is thinking
When Andrew finally arrived at the alpha research department, Richard and Dr. Piper were smirking, and Dr. Cox was rolling her eyes at their behaviour, while smiling slightly.
"How was the meeting with Mr. Beckett?" Dr. Piper asked, wiggling her eyebrows. Andrew could feel how red his face was, and knew that he was never going to live down their teasing. He coughed, pulling on his jacket and sitting at his desk.
"His parents were there." Andrew told them, and Dr. Piper laughed.
"So? They could have also been asking about your intentions with their son. I want to know, Dr. Nice!" Dr. Piper said and Andrew flushed.
"They weren’t really checking on my intentions with their son. They were more checking on Maxwell." Andrew admitted, pulling up the same work he had been doing the previous day, continuing with what he wasn’t able to finish. Dr. Piper smirked.
"Is Mr. Beckett going to be stopping by as often as he did yesterday, or did you two get it out of your systems last night?" She teased, and Dr. Cox gasped.
"Hailey! You can’t just ask that of others! It’s rude!" She told her while Andrew chuckled. Dr. Piper rolled her eyes.
"It’s not rude! I’m curious, and Dr. Nice isn’t upset that I’m asking." She gestured towards Andrew and Dr. Cox growled.
"Just because Dr. Nice is nice, doesn’t mean that you can just ask whatever you want. Right, Dr. Gates?" Dr. Cox turned to Richard, looking for his approval, but she was going to be sadly mistaken. Richard wasn’t going to come to Andrew’s defense, not when it was something like this. Andrew could see it in his eyes.
Richard looked primed and ready to answer in the exact opposite to Dr. Cox’s plea. His smirk was in place, his eyes sparkling. Andrew sighed, ducking his head preemptively.
"Oh no, I’m all for Dr. Piper’s question. Answer it, Dr. Nice. Did you two get it out of your system yesterday?" He asked and Dr. Cox groaned. She put her head in her hands, before glaring at Richard.
"Are you two children? Is this why you are asking about this?" She protested and both Richard and Dr. Piper grinned.
"Oh come on, Dr. Cox. Don’t pretend that you are better than us. You have to be interested in this. This is the most interesting thing that’s happened here that we are privy to, of course we’re going to prod him. Especially since he was away for a week and the whole company practically fell apart. No one had witnessed that kind of behaviour before from Mr. Beckett. I bet everyone is ready to capture him if he thinks about leaving again." Dr. Piper said, and Andrew laughed.
"I know some stuff happened, but it can’t be that bad, could it?" He asked and all three turned their gazes towards him. Richard’s gaze was quite serious, while Dr. Piper was giving him a dead eye stare. Dr. Cox looked sympathetic, but also as if she would do the same. Andrew paused in his work. "Richard, you didn’t explain this well to me." He protested, and Richard sighed.
"I wasn’t sure how to say it. You saw how some people were looking at you. That’s what it meant. No one wants you to leave if it means that we lose our CEO. Half of us are only working here because of him. If he changes, and we get someone new, who knows what their policies are going to be?" Andrew sighed.
"Well, you might have to get used to someone else for a little bit. Maxwell has some...things that might occupy his time for a while." Richard gasped, Dr. Piper gasped, and Dr. Cox went pale.
"What are you talking about?" Dr. Cox asked, her tone serious as she spun her chair towards Andrew. Dr. Piper let out a squeal.
"Is Mr. Beckett pregnant?" She asked excitedly. Richard was fuming, clearly pissed that Andrew got someone pregnant. Not that he couldn’t, but that he had taken it so poorly, and had abandoned Maxwell if that was the case. Andrew knew it was more about that, then he was that Andrew was having children.
"Andy, you better have fucking-" Andrew raised his hand, silencing Richard’s angry rant. frёeωebɳovel.com
"Maxwell isn’t pregnant. We know that for sure, and we aren’t trying right now. We are very safe right now." If they were going to get pregnant, it for sure would have been before Maxwell’s heat, or during it. They hadn’t as far as he knew, and with how many tests Maxwell probably took after he had left the hospital, he was pretty sure the man would have known if he was.
"Oh phooey." Dr. Piper said, crossing her arms, upset. It was clear that she wanted them to have kids, and Dr. Cox gave her a hard stare.
"Hailey!" She scolded again, and Richard slid a tired look towards Dr. Piper. It seemed that Dr. Piper, who was normally a bit more professional, had changed slightly. Andrew had no idea why, but-oh. She’d gone on a date. Was that related to her new behaviour?
She wasn’t behaving too out of the ordinary to what Andrew was used to, maybe just a little more unhinged? He didn’t hate it, but it was noticeable that she was a bit different.
"What? Mr. Beckett and Dr. Nice would have cute babies!" She protested and Dr. Cox groaned.
"What if they are having problems conceiving? You don’t know that, so it’s rude to make those kinds of assumptions." She gave Richard a scathing look as well. "I’m also disappointed in you, Dr. Gates. You made the same kind of jump." She accused and Richard at least looked a little embarrassed. Andrew didn’t mind.
He really didn’t. It was nice that Dr. Piper thought that they would have cute babies, but it was probably better to nip this in the bud right away. Andrew didn’t think that it would hurt him or Maxwell ever, but he didn’t know about others. Male omegas, he assumed, had a harder time getting pregnant. He wasn’t aware, since he had only had a few male omegas around him. He’d mostly been friends with female omegas, and they were more common, but from Amir’s story, and how hard he took it, Andrew could make some educated guesses.
"It’s alright, Dr. Cox. I’m not offended, but it could be offensive to others, Dr. Piper. You never know what someone else is going through and most people find infertility to be a touchy subject." Dr. Piper looked even more upset.
"I know infertility is a big deal. We have a project on that here, we just aren’t working on it." She muttered, sitting back in her seat. She was pouting, and Dr. Cox sighed. It was kind of interesting to see how quickly her attitude had changed, and when Andrew glanced towards Richard, he had a rather grim look on his face. Andrew pulled out his phone, sending him a quick text about the situation, asking it this behaviour was due to the date and when Richard replied back, he only sent a simple ’yes’.
Huh.
Did the people she dated like younger, less intelligent women? Because that was the vibe that he was getting. Dr. Piper was a smart woman, who did speak her mind and was mischievous, but she wasn’t an idiot. Her behaviour might have made her seem stupid, though she wasn’t, it could also make her look inconsiderate, which she also wasn’t. It was concerning, but Andrew didn’t know her enough to speak to her about it.
Instead, he was going to have to watch this as it progressed, and see if he could step in to help at any time. It was clear from the looks on both Richard and Dr. Cox’s faces that this wasn’t the first time this had happened. Even though Andrew had his hands full with everything else going on right now, that didn’t mean he couldn’t keep an eye on this.
Andrew sighed, shaking his head as he pulled up a note app, and began to document some of Dr. Piper’s strange behaviours, and let Richard know what he was doing. Richard sent a text back demanding a link, so he then changed it to a document that they could edit, before he then sent a link to Dr. Cox.
Dr. Cox glanced at Andrew and Richard, before she began to edit the document as well. Dr. Piper, as far as Andrew knew, was none the wiser as the day continued.
Maxwell’s visits were considerably lesser compared to yesterday. He did stop by a few times after the meeting to get a little pick me up from Andrew, but it was significantly less before he came to collect him for lunch. They hadn’t brought anything from the house today, so Maxwell had ordered food in without asking Andrew, hoping to surprise him.
He’d had a small table set up for them in his office, making it into a little date. He was clearly nervous to see if Andrew liked it, shuffling on his heels nervously as Andrew stared at the small, romantic lunch he’d prepared and Andrew melted.
If Maxwell had cared about him before, it was clear that now he was actively making sure that Andrew didn’t leave again. The looks from Maxwell’s secretaries made sense now. They had been swooning, staring at Andrew to see his response to Maxwell’s attempts. Even Mr. Newman had a rather soft look on his face, in his eyes, and Andrew made sure that the others caught sight of him pulling Maxwell in for a kiss.
Now that he knew that everyone was anxious about their relationship, he had no qualms about reassuring everyone, including Maxwell.
Any excuse to kiss Maxwell, really. Chastely, of course. None of what they had done during the day. Not at lunch. Even when Maxwell had positioned himself in Andrew’s lap, a knowing smile on his face as they took turns feeding each other and he could feel just how happy Andrew was to have him in his lap the whole time.
The devil. Maxwell was going to drive him insane.
