[BL] Dear Hushand, I want divorce-Chapter 25: Sit on my lap
Chapter 25: Sit on my lap
Ash’s pov ;
I sighed. "What do you want, Ryder?"
"Oh, come on! Is that any way to greet your favourite person in the world?" he gasped, placing a hand dramatically on his chest.
"You’re not even in the top ten," I retorted, rolling my eyes.
Ryder pouted, feigning hurt. "Ouch! That stings. You really know how to wound a guy."
I couldn’t help but smirk. Ryder was annoying but in a different way from Elijah. His bubbly personality was almost endearing—almost.
He leaned forward, catching me off guard. He lowered his voice, a conspiratorial grin spreading across his face. "So, where’s your hubby?"
I glared at him, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks. "Cut it out, Ryder."
If I don’t stop him soon, this loudmouth will let all the company know about Elijah and my relationship.
He laughed, raising his hands in mock surrender. "Alright, alright! No need to get all serious. I’m just messing with you."
I shook my head, trying to hide my irritation. "Why are you even here?"
"Just checking in on my bestie," he said with a wink and walked towards Elijah’s office.
As Ryder left, my mind wandered back to the audition.
Should I really ask Elijah or not?
Thoughts swirled in my mind, tangled with memories of my career and my father’s dream. I couldn’t let go of it all so easily—it had been my life’s work, my passion. And it was my father’s dream too, for me to succeed in this industry.
Maybe I could swallow my pride and talk to Elijah. After all, Elijah used to respect my father a lot. Perhaps he would understand if I explained it to him—the years of hard work, the dedication, my father’s wishes.
But then again, Elijah was a different man now. Would he even listen to me when he’s crazy about that so-called revenge of his?
I sighed heavily, I can’t afford to wait any longer. If I want a chance to salvage my career, to honour my father’s memory, I have to try. freewebnøvel.com
Gathering my resolve, I left the break room and headed towards Elijah’s office.
I carried the coffee with trembling hands feeling extremely nervous. As much as I loathed the idea, I knew I had to try. I took a deep breath and pushed open the door to Elijah’s office.
Inside, I found Elijah and Ryder deep in their conversation. They stopped and looked up as I entered. Elijah’s eyes narrowed slightly, while Ryder’s face lit up with his usual cheeky grin.
What were they talking about so seriously?
I forced a polite smile, even though it felt like my face might crack. "I brought you some coffee. I made it, especially to your taste." I handed him the cup, maintaining a wide smile that made Elijah frown.
Of course, he would find my sudden formality strange. Even I wanted to kill myself for being so cringe right now.
Ryder couldn’t resist his teasing as always. "Wow, going for employee of the month, are we?"
Ignoring Ryder, I focused on Elijah. "Please, have a drink," I said, trying to keep my voice steady and hopeful.
Elijah looked at the cup suspiciously. "What did you add to it?"
My smile froze as I held back a scowl, keeping my smile in place and resisting hitting his face with the tray in my hands. "I didn’t poison it if that’s what you’re implying."
Ryder burst out laughing. "Come on, Elijah, give the guy a break. Though, Ash, you do look a bit murderous today. Something on your mind?"
Elijah took the cup, still eyeing me warily. "Why did you only bring one coffee? Can’t you see we have a guest?"
"I’m not your servant," I responded directly but I immediately regretted it as Elijah’s eyes narrowed dangerously. "I-I mean, I’ll bring another cup for Ryder right away."
"Aw, that makes me feel special." As I turned to leave, Ryder’s voice stopped me. "Wait a minute. What’s that on your neck?"
I froze, confused. "What?"
Ryder reached out and touched a spot on my neck. I hissed in pain and pulled back, my face flushing instantly as I realized what he had found.
Ryder’s grin widened. "Oh ho, looks like someone’s been having fun. So you guys are not only rough during the day with each other but also at night?"
Before I could reply, I was harshly pulled away from Ryder and to Elijah’s side. "Shut your dirty mouth before I punch it," Elijah warned him coldly.
Ryder ignored him, leaning closer with a sneer. "Seriously, Ash, you should get some ice on that. Or maybe have Elijah kiss it better."
My face burned as a blush crept my cheeks. "I..should go get your coffee."
Elijah’s grip tightened on my arm, making me stop. "What’s the real reason you’re here?" he demanded, glaring at me.
I hesitated for a second before looking at him with a serious expression. "I need to talk to you. Alone."
Elijah studied me for a moment, then turned to Ryder. "We’ll continue this later."
Ryder laughed, raising his hands in mock surrender. "Alright, alright. I get it. You two need some alone time to do... whatever it is you do. I’ll take my leave." He winked at me, his grin nastier than ever. "Don’t have too much fun without me."
As Ryder left, his laughter echoing down the hall, I felt a knot of dread in my stomach. Elijah turned back to me, his eyes cold and expectant.
"Speak," he commanded sternly.
I swallowed hard, nerves twisting in my stomach. "I...I just..." I stammered, unable to find the right words. His expression grew more annoyed by the second.
With a long sigh, he moved to the leather sofa against the wall and sat down, spreading his legs in a way that was both relaxed and intimidating. His broad frame relaxed into the cushions, one arm draped over the back, the other resting on his thigh. His presence was magnetic, his posture was both hot and fierce. I felt a blush creeping up my neck, distracted by how effortlessly commanding he looked.
Elijah tapped his foot impatiently. "Do we have all day?"
I cleared my throat and shook my head feeling ashamed. "I heard...I heard your company is producing a new drama."
He raised an eyebrow, clearly bored. "And?"
Under his scrutinizing gaze, I felt small, like I was shrinking. "I was wondering if...if I could try giving an audition."
His eyes lit up with a hint of interest this time, though his face remained impassive. My heart raced, my palms growing sweaty as he just looked at me, saying nothing.
Then, suddenly, he spread his thick thighs wider and patted one. "Come sit here. I can’t understand you clearly since you’re so far away."
My face twisted in utter shock, heat flooding my cheeks as I turned red. I stayed rooted to the spot, unable to move. "W-what?" I managed to stammer, incredulous.
Elijah’s eyes gleamed with pure joy. "You heard me. If you want to ask for something, you should be willing to show how badly you want it."
