Chapter 147: His kept man?

Hiroshi finally got his phone back. They had protected the phone against what happened in the past as Kiyoshi assured him. He saw the number of times his brother and Miyoko had called him including some of his colleagues.

He didn’t see any need to call his colleagues and Miyoko but he called Aki immediately. His father hadn’t told him much about Aki and he had not bothered to ask concluding that since he was out and healed, his father must have told Aki about it.

Aki picked up his call and asked, "Are you okay brother?"

Hearing the urgency and worry in Aki’s voice, he smiled. He wondered how worried Aki must have been during his time in the basement.

"Yes, I am okay, now. Do you want to play golf this weekend?" Hiroshi asked. He wanted to show Aki he was alright and meet other people aside from the faces he got to see in the house.

"Yes, of course!" Aki replied excitedly.

"Come over on Saturday, we’ll have barbecue too and some sake," Hiroshi replied as he thought of what else they could do to have fun.

"Brother . . . you know, Miyoko was also worried about you," Aki said.

Hiroshi could guess the hint that Aki wanted to bring Miyoko over. Since he was not sure about how Haruki would react to her presence, he replied, "I will see her when I get back to work, you could have dinner with her on Sunday to tell her I’m fine."

Sensing that there seemed to be a problem with his suggestion, Aki didn’t push it. He knew Miyoko was close enough to his brother to get invited to play golf with them when it was something they did among themselves as siblings.

He could only conclude the issue lay with where they were going to play the golf which was Haruki’s house. Since his brother had given him a good reason to invite Miyoko over, he decided to use it to meet her later.

Knowing what had happened to his brother, Aki still found it hard to ease his heart of the anger he felt. His friend had allowed his brother to get hurt.

He knew Hiroshi was one of the kindest people he had met and he didn’t deserve to get mistreated by anyone so seeing and knowing all his brother went through, he wanted an explanation from Haruki. An apology? Something to appease his anger.

"Did they get punished for hurting you?" Aki asked after clearing his throat. If it was in the past, he would have blatantly demanded an apology from Haruki but thinking about the power Haruki held, he found himself unable to completely imagine himself asking that of Haruki.

Hiroshi sighed, he would understand what Aki was worried about but he was alive, his name was cleared and Haruki treated him delicately, that was even more than enough to make him forget all he experienced unfairly.

"They did nothing wrong, they were protecting Haruki, the person who framed me should be the target of our rage," Hiroshi replied calmly.

"Still . . ." Aki began but ended up sighing. "I will see you tomorrow, then."

"Yeah," Hiroshi nodded. He had not even noticed that the next day was Friday staying cooped up in the room most of the time especially after staying in a room without any sense of time for more than a week.

After Aki hung up, Hiroshi sighed and slid down into a more comfortable position on the sofa as he stared ahead at the beautiful landscape.

At first, he had not thought it was a bad idea to remain in the house because Haruki spent so much time with him but lately Haruki had been busy, very busy they had barely seen each other during the past couple of days.

Loneliness had seeped into every part of being and having no human to converse with felt no different from the days he was in the basement. He hated it, he missed Haruki, and he wanted Haruki by his side if he wasn’t allowed to leave.

He ran his fingers through his hair. It had become significantly longer over the past weeks. He had a razor to shave with in the basement but he could not cut his hair. He was not used to having his hair grow down his neck.

He could only wait for Haruki to arrive so he could request a haircut. Waiting like this with nothing to do, felt so boring he ended up going out of the room to get a book to read from Haruki’s study.

When Haruki arrived, Hiroshi was not in the bedroom. He was told Hiroshi was in the study so he went there after changing into lounge wear.

Without knocking, he pushed the door open. Hiroshi was lying on the sofa with a book closed on his chest. When he approached the man, he noticed Hiroshi was sleeping peacefully. The handsome face was peaceful and inviting.

He leaned forward to have a better look at Hiroshi’s face. His fingers brushed the man’s lashes and ran over the bridge of his nose until he touched his lips. Hiroshi opened his eyes and shook slightly at the sight of someone so close to him.

He closed his eyes and took deep breaths when he realised it was Haruki. He sat up as Haruki straightened his posture watching him.

"You’re back," Hiroshi murmured as he tried to blink away the sleepiness he felt.

"Hmm," Haruki hummed as he sat beside Hiroshi.

The doctor turned his head and glanced at the wall clock. It was already nine and Haruki just arrived. He knew whatever kept Haruki so busy had to be of great importance but he could not help but furrow his brow.

"Have you eaten dinner?" Hiroshi asked turning his body to face Haruki.

"Yes, what about you?"

Hiroshi nodded. Looking at the man he had waited for all day made him unable to keep away. He moved closer to Haruki and hugged him.

He wanted to complain about how bored he has been in the house even with the books. He wanted to beg to go back to work, to get his hands busy, to see his patients, just to do something aside from lounging around.

Haruki looked down at the man who rested his head against his chest. He could feel that the man had gotten really clingy with him since he returned from the business trip.

He loved the calm Hiroshi of the past, the busy doctor who liked to spend time with him but this new Hiroshi was also very endearing.

He remembered the question he asked Hiroshi. Hiroshi was willing to be his prisoner, to be kept here forever, to wait for him to return, every day a feast for his eyes alone a monopoly of the man’s attention.

It sounded good, almost too good to be ignored, then he would not be scared of making any decision the man might not like because Hiroshi was his in ownership, his prisoner.

He would marry, have kids and yet keep the man by his side . . . his gaze got colder at that thought. He sighed when he realised how deep and ruthless his thoughts had gotten.

He gently pushed Hiroshi away and rose. Those thoughts got him to understand how deeply the man’s presence had rooted in his mind. He was imagining a forever with the man.

It did not sound like the kind of fairytale Hiroshi would like but it sounded like the perfect forever someone like him could have, a forever with his lover and an heir.

Two things scared him about the thoughts. First, he has placed Hiroshi at the highest level of importance anyone could be in his life and second, he wanted to truly cage Hiroshi by his side stealing the man’s life from him, a thought he has never had towards anyone.

Hiroshi sitting up looked up at him with a questioning gaze. "What?" he asked his voice deep as a result of having just woken up from a nap.

The angle was beautiful as Hiroshi looked up at him, handsome. He swallowed as the thought of keeping him locked by his side flashed through his mind again. Soon they would be done with the investigation and he would have to let Hiroshi leave.

They could continue their weekly routine of meeting at his place during business days and meeting in the main house during the weekends. That was more than enough, right? After all, when he was not working, he would be in the same house with Hiroshi but why did that suddenly sound insufficient?

He had never imagined doing this before. It was just like tasting something addictive and being unable to resist the urge to have it again. He had kept Hiroshi here for his safety but now he wanted to keep him as something that belonged to him.

Hiroshi rose up seeing Haruki was still so deep in thoughts in while looking into his eyes. "Are you okay?" he asked. He felt Haruki must be feeling weighed down by thoughts of work and all that had happened in the past weeks.
