(BL) Mafia Love; He who falls the hardest loses-Chapter 150: Third wheel
The man was giving him something no one else gave him when he needed it most. Hiroshi was not protecting him against a stranger. He was standing against his brother to protect him.
Hiroshi was choosing him over Aki’s desire to vent. He was choosing him above the desire of his brother to avenge him.
Aki was not a bully who wanted to hurt him for fun. Aki’s action was done for Hiroshi yet Hiroshi had prevented it from happening.
His smile brightened. At that moment, a thought passed through his mind. He thought of how he might be able to destroy the world for Hiroshi if that was something he wanted.
If he could not do it with the power he had, he would acquire that much power and do it. Warmth flooded his heart even with the pain caused by Hiroshi’s tightening grip around his wrist.
"I am sorry," Aki’s apology broke the heavy silence.
Aki could feel the tension so much that smiling or joking would not make Hiroshi back out of it. He wanted an apology so he gave him the apology he wanted. He wondered what Hiroshi would have done to him if he had truly landed the punch.
He could only secretly sigh in relief that he had succeeded in punching Haruki as he had intended. He might truly lose his brother because of that. It was also very eye-opening about how much Haruki meant to his brother maybe more than him.
Only after Aki apologised did Hiroshi stand aside letting Aki see Haruki. Aki could finally muster a smile when he met Haruki’s gaze.
Haruki returned his smile and nodded his head. "It’s all good, we have taken so much time here how about we get to what you came here to do?"
With Haruki’s words, the tension seemed to drop significantly as though they were not just about to throw hands at each other a few seconds ago.
Haruki’s gaze remained on the doctor throughout the game. With every slight brushing of their fingers, he felt electrified. It was so intense he wanted their leisure time to end and for Aki to leave so they could be alone.
Hiroshi had always been handsome but there was something even more handsome about him. Something very sexy about the way a bead of sweat ran down his temple, ran down his neck, the way he raised his hand to wipe it and the way he watched Haruki as he took a stance to strike the golf ball.
Haruki swallowed the lump that formed in his throat. It was suddenly hot, a bit too hot. He reached for a bottle of water from the cooler and twisted the cap. Even with chills from the bottle against his palm, he seemed reluctant to drink from it, reluctant to quench the heat.
"I hope you are not still displeased with me about earlier?" Aki asked as he sat down on the chair beside Haruki.
Haruki smiled. After all that passed? What right does he have to feel displeased? He shook his head, "No."
"I am glad my brother stopped me," Aki said with a heavy sigh. "If I had hit you, I would have regretted it."
"There is nothing to regret. You did what you thought you could do to protect your brother. I would have done the same."
"I am still angry about what they did to him but . . ." Aki began before looking at his brother who was immersed in the game. "Since he is okay with it, I have no right to be angry."
"I should also apologise deeply for it," Haruki said sincerely. After they had hurt the brother of his friend. If he were not in an intimate relationship with Hiroshi, he would most likely have given Aki an apology for it, after all, they were good friends.
"No, your men were doing their work. If my brother had truly done it, there would have been nothing I could have done to save him. He was a suspect and they did what they could to protect you."
"I am glad you see it that way now."
Aki laughed and nodded. He had not seen it that way when he saw Haruki earlier. He just wanted to hit him to pay back for the gunshot wound his brother got from Haruki’s men.
He sighed and asked as soon as he got the urge to, "But can I punch the man who shot him?"
"No need to, he is in the hospital fighting for his life," Haruki replied casually.
Hearing how casual Haruki had said it had Aki freeze. He coughed choking on his saliva. He laughed and shook his head but when he saw that Haruki did not join him, he could see that Haruki was serious about what he had said.
He picked up a bottle of water from the cooler and twisted the cap just in time for Haruki to clap beside him. His hand shook causing a bit of water to spill on him. He saw Haruki was clapping for Hiroshi as he rose up and walked to Hiroshi.
"Nice shot," Haruki praised Hiroshi touching his arm.
Hiroshi turned to look at Haruki his eyes filled with desire. Aki sighed making up his mind to give up on the weekly golf time with them. How could he come to be a third wheel when the two of them looked like they were a few seconds away from kissing even in his presence?
He cleared his throat and gulped down the water in the bottle. At this point, he could only conclude that Hiroshi had lost his mind. How could anyone be this attracted to the man who almost got him killed?
Haruki had not done it directly but it was enough to scare him scared but Hiroshi had obviously lost his mind.
"Crazy," he muttered under his breath and rose up. He really wanted to leave. He could not understand either of them.
From what his father had said, he should understand that Haruki had not made the order directly but remembering what Haruki said about the man who shot Hiroshi, the hairs on his body rose.
He rubbed his arms and cleared his throat. "I just found out I have something else to do at Dad’s house," Aki announced when they turned to face him.
"Are you leaving?" Haruki asked his voice a bit excitedly.
"Yes," Aki said with a sigh. He clearly heard how Haruki sounded and although he told himself he was overthinking it, it made him want to leave even faster.
"Bye then," Haruki waved a small smile on his face when their gaze met.
Aki shook his head. They didn’t bother seeing him out. He pulled out his phone and sent a text to Miyoko immediately asking if she was free.
He didn’t get a response as soon as he wanted but when he sat behind the steering wheel, his phone beeped. She had responded and she was free.
He could finally smile as he told her where they should meet and pressed the ignition button.

"I don’t know why Aki looked strange," Hiroshi murmured as they returned to the main house.
Haruki glanced at the man walking beside him and shook his head. He could guess what Aki was thinking and he was pleased that Aki had gotten the cue to leave.
Deep down, he hoped that was not why Aki had left because they just exposed him so he replied, "He must still be feeling guilty. You were so cold to him earlier."
Hiroshi blinked and shook his head. "I had to stop him," Hiroshi said firmly. Realising he had been a bit too firm with what he had said, he softened his tone and added, "How could he hit his host?"
"Was that why you stopped him?" Haruki asked as his smile slowly disappeared. He was not sure about what he thought was the reason behind Hiroshi defending him but he could accept that the man thought that.
"He could also get hurt by your guards."
"Only that?"
Hiroshi pressed his lips tightly together thoughtfully. Could he say it the way he had felt it at that moment? At the moment his body had moved without an extra thought to stop Aki from hitting Haruki.
He swallowed and stared ahead at the door before them as they took the steps up.
"Was that why you stopped Aki?" Haruki couldn’t hold himself back as he reached for Hiroshi’s wrist.
Hiroshi met his gaze but still pressed his lips together without responding.
"Do you mean it?"
Hiroshi bit the inside of his cheeks although he maintained a calm gaze on Haruki’s obsidian eyes.
Haruki released the doctor’s wrist calmly as he kept his disappointment in check.
"I wanted to protect you. I could not afford to see you get hurt. The thought of it was too overwhelming that was why I made Aki apologise to you for having the thought of hurting you."
Haruki ignored the man’s words as a guard opened the door for him. Haruki smirked as he stepped into the house. That was such a cute confession. He didn’t need to see the man’s face to guess that he was blushing.
