Chapter 93: Katoro

Haruki raised his head to see Dr. Yamamoto ahead. He remembered the words he had spoken to Hiroshi when he stood in for his father without prior information. It was not a good feeling at all when he had to face the man’s son without the usual proper introduction and handover of duties.

Now, he might have to face the father once again if he falls ill another change in his physician without any warning. And as for the other duties the man attended to, he could only sigh as at that, he only felt rage and thought of ways to punish the man.

He noticed the man’s father approaching him after their gaze met for a few seconds which felt almost too long. He turned and without hesitation, he began walking out of the building unhurriedly.

He did not need the apology of the father of that man. He wanted the man’s apology. I slowed down and gave the key to the car he drove to his assistant.

Kiyoshi could easily understand what the man wanted even without making him state out. He opened the door of the car drove to the hospital and closed it after Haruki got in. He wondered where Haruki parked the doctor’s car but that was none of his business as he would need to hand the keys over to the man’s father.

Haruki noticed the doctor standing outside, he didn’t make the attempt to come closer perhaps to apologize and offer an excuse for his but he was wise enough to stay away.

Haruki felt angry and he was unsure of what reactions he would give to the man’s words and actions if the old man walked over to him. The more he stared at the man, the more he felt the rage boil within him. If the father taught his son well, perhaps none of this would have happened, right?

He looked away as Kiyoshi drove away from the building. The feeling that that family had begun to take him and his family for granted grew the farther the car moved from the hospital. He thought of how he did not seem to notice remorse or fear on that old man’s face after what he knew his son had done.

Kiyoshi unsure of where Haruki wanted to be at the moment looked at him through the rear and his brow furrowed. Haruki’s brow was drawn together to form a deep line, he felt the need to tell the man to stop.

He parted his lips to speak but pressed his lips for a few seconds before saying, "Where do you want to go?"

"Let’s go to the main house," Haruki replied his voice deep and a bit hoarse.

"Should I arrange for someone?" Kiyoshi asked his voice cautiously low.

"No," Haruki replied. It wasn’t written blatantly in the contract that the man travelling without informing Haruki was a breach of the contract so their relationship was still valid even after the man did what he did.

He hated that he signed a slightly different contract with the man or he would have not felt the need to respect the relationship they had when he needed a means of venting the anger that the man himself had caused.

He was a man true to his word and unless the man doesn’t appear before him even after a month, he couldn’t be someone else. That was a mistake he began to regret deeply. When he got home, he went to the basement almost immediately.

He paused when he saw Katoro. The more he saw the younger man, the more he felt he looked very much like his elder brother, Shinya. He had not taken a moment to consider such resemblance and it might not be a coincidence.

He held the man’s gaze as he approached the man and stopped at the door the man was guarding. "Where were you assigned to by Ren?" He had to ask because he kept seeing the man almost everywhere in the house.

"He said he wanted to give me some time to find a place that suits me best," Katoro replied after a deep bow.

"Ren?" Haruki asked his eyes narrowing a bit. That was so unlike the Ren he knew when handling such matters.

"Yes sir," Katoro replied raising his eyes to meet Haruki’s gaze.

The man’s black eyes made Haruki pause a bit. There were only a few people in the house who would fearlessly meet his gaze especially while standing this close. Perhaps that was because the man was the only one in the house who had stabbed Haruki.

The man’s fearlessness felt a bit daring but he felt if he dwelt on that, then he would leave the man’s body lifeless both for his past mistakes and his irritating show of irrational confidence when facing him. Since he hadn’t come downstairs to shoot a human target, he might as well get to what brought him there.

He walked past Katoro and pushed the door open. He stepped into the dark room that turned on as soon as he entered. The large room had wooden targets a few of them had holes all over almost like a seethrough vest.

He walked to a door on the side and pressed in a pin the door clicked before opening. The arsenal had bulletproof show glass keeping easy weapons away from the reach of just anyone who didn’t know the pin. Handguns, shotguns, submachine guns and many more were displayed behind the glass. freewebnøvel_com

Haruki picked one after entering the pin to open the door in front of the gun. He stepped out of the room after kitting up with a headset and gloves.

It was an hour later when he stepped out of the place. He was taken aback to see the guard at the door had changed. It was no longer Katoro but one of the other men he was more familiar with.

The man bowed deeply and when he stood upright, he kept his gaze down as Haruki spoke to him. This felt normal for him with the other men but Katoro was different, he wondered what gave the man that confidence.

He said a few words to the man and left. It was already so late and he had work the next. The fact that Hiroshi was dumb enough to piss him off did not mean he could take a leave. He washed up once again and went directly to bed.

Haruki woke up to the sound of the door opening being a light sleeper. He felt it was Kiyoshi coming to wake him up but he had no intention of standing up until the man woke him up.

The person did something out of the ordinary by lifting and pulling away the blanket from his body. Haruki reached under his pillow for a knife and held it waiting for the moment to strike but there was something familiar about the way the person touched him before pulling down the waist of his pyjama pants.

He frowned and looked down at the owner of the hand. He confirmed it was Katoro from the black hair. He could easily guess what the younger man wanted to do. He felt the urge to stop him but he released the knife from his grip.

He reached for the person’s hair and grabbed a handful of the man’s hair and putting in force, he raised the man’s head. Katoro met his gaze calmly as though he had not been touching Haruki without his permission.

He put in more force tightening the grip on the man’s hair until he saw Katoro’s eyes widen in shock of the pain before he winced.

"What do you want?" Haruki’s hoarse tired voice asked. This happened one day when the man was still his lover. Katoro had pulled off the blanket and attended to his active morning body.

It was not something that the young man had the chance to repeat because although Haruki indulged in that behaviour, he had warned Katoro not to enter his room again.

Katoro was pretty obedient then perhaps because he was scared of Haruki kicking him away before he got the chance to avenge his brother’s death. But Katoro got the guts to come to his room in the main house to repeat the same action he had warned him of before.

That was a norm for them when he was Shinya. Whenever he spent the night in the house he bought the man as a present, the man would crawl under the blanket and do this same action.

He wondered if the brothers discussed such private things when Shinya was alive or if they both just had it in their genes to do this.

"What are you trying to do?" Haruki repeated between clenched teeth when Katoro left his question unanswered.

Katoro closed his eyes when the pain in his scalp only increased. "I . . . I just wanted to," he stuttered unable to meet Haruki’s gaze.
