[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 115: It’s Not Your Fault
After making sure Donald was allowed to go home, they took him back to the house, where Jane, Stefano, and Sofia were waiting for him.
They threw a small party, preparing cakes and his favorite foods. The cake they prepared turned out to be a peach cake, Wilona’s favorite, which was now Donald’s favorite too.
"Welcome home, Dad!" they exclaimed, welcoming him home.
"Thank you, my children. I’m happy to be home again. Especially to be able to gather with all of you here. Thank you for supporting me all this time," replied the middle-aged man as he sat down at the dining table with his family.
Now he felt complete. His three children were with him, as well as his son in-law. Even though his wife was currently in prison for what she had done, Donald felt that his family was more than enough.
He just wanted to be grateful for his life now, not wanting to hope for more. They enjoyed the cake together, chatting about many things, including some things that had been missed while Donald was still in a coma.
"Since Father’s condition has improved and he’s back home, I think Julian and I will return to our home." Arcane said this because he thought it was time to return to their previous life.
It wasn’t his home, even though his family was there. He now had his own family with his husband, Julian. And it was time for him to go back to live with him.
Stefano and his sister Sofia looked a little disappointed when they heard this. While Donald was in the hospital, they had enjoyed spending time together every day. Now the two men had to go home, back to their own homes.
"Can’t you stay here with us? It would be so much fun to live together! Especially since Arcane is me and Stefano’s brother!" Sofia asked them both.
However, Stefano, as her older brother, reminded her that Arcane was an adult and could choose his own path in life. Moreover, he was married, so he had to live with his partner.
Sofia looked so sad when she heard this, especially since she spent time with Julian every day after school. Sometimes he even helped her style her hair before going to school.
"Alright, but you two have to visit often! Can I also come to your house to play?" asked the 11 year old girl. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"Of course you can! I’ll pick you up if you want to come to our house." Julian replied enthusiastically, because he himself also enjoyed spending time with Sofia.
After having lunch together and chatting, Julian went to the guest room to pack their things because they were leaving tomorrow. When Arcane was about to follow, Donald called him and said he wanted to talk to him in his room.
"Can we talk privately? There’s something I want to discuss with you."
"Of course." He followed his father to his room and they talked privately.
In his father’s room, Donald held his son’s hands and looked into his eyes. Their green eyes met, as if he was making a connection between father and son.
"I know you still blame yourself for what happened. But know this, it’s not your fault at all," he said.
"Father?"
The middle aged man said that it was actually his own fault. He was the one who started a loveless marriage, causing pain and resentment in Alina. Until finally, all of this happened, resulting in the commotion and terrible tragedy that occurred a few weeks ago.
"If only I had been more sensitive to your mother and known about her situation, none of this would have happened. And if only I had been able to control myself and not marry someone who i didn’t love just because of family pressure, this wouldn’t have happened either."
"And if only I had learned to love my wife at that time, none of this would have happened. It was all clearly directed at me, Arcane. It all started because of my stupidity and my mistakes. So please, stop blaming yourself."
He explained all of this, asking his son to stop feeling that his existence was wrong. Especially Alina’s words saying that Arcane should never have existed.
"I am actually grateful that you are in this world. I was devastated when I could no longer see Wilona and found out that she was gone forever. And when I found out about you, I felt like I had new hope because you are part of someone I have always been waiting for..."
"Father... I didn’t mean for things to turn out like this. At first, I just wanted to know more about you. But it turns out that something so terrible happened," said Arcane, still unable to believe that his small wish had changed so many things and even brought bad luck.
Once again, Donald reminded him that it wasn’t his fault or that he had brought bad luck.
"If you still consider yourself bad luck, I don’t want to consider you my son anymore," he warned sternly because he didn’t want Arcane to think badly of himself.
He then embraced his eldest son’s body, feeling so relieved to know he was okay. The dream he had while in a coma seemed like a brief visit to meet Wilona and make up for lost time.
But he remembered what Wilona had told him, to stay alive and take care of their child. They still needed him, and Donald was the only one who could be their hope.
"Take care of our son. I’ll wait for you here, but don’t come back too soon. I want you to enjoy your time with him, and that will be the greatest gift when you come back to see me."
Those words were accompanied by a smile, making Donald finally choose to wake up and return to them.
He cupped Arcane’s cheeks and kissed his forehead. It was an innocent kiss from a father to his son, which some people thought was strange considering Arcane was already 27 years old.
"I promised your mother that I would stay here for you and your two younger siblings. And I will keep that promise before I meet her again later."
