[BL] Seducing Male Leads To Survive As A Villain In A Novel-Chapter 298: A Certain Author.
MODERN DAY, 2025.
The room was messy.
There were clothes littered all over the bed, and some had fallen to the ground.
The bookshelf was disorganised. Some books were kept straight and some were randomly placed; some had even fallen on the floor.
Same with the table. There were books randomly kept on it, and in the middle sat the laptop. There was an empty page on the laptop, but it was pretty obvious that someone was writing on it because the title of the file was intact. It was titled:
LADY HELENE PULLS ROYALTIES
The light in the room flickered for a while as a voice was heard from a distance—someone was making a call at the balcony of the room.
A young man held his phone to his ear while he listened to the ranting of someone at the other end of the line.
He had tried explaining, "Well that is... I... It’s not..."
But the other party didn’t seem to be listening at all. He was only ranting.
"I don’t care what excuses you’re giving. I just don’t like the new development of the novel at all," the man on the other end of the line snapped.
The young man was quiet, hand on his waist. He was wearing an ash-coloured t-shirt and black pants. He looked a mess.
"See..." the man on the other end of the line said, "I don’t know what’s wrong with you at all and I don’t really care. But... why are you doing what you’re doing?"
The young man hesitated and replied, "Well, the thing is, I think it’s more logical that way... the way..."
"I don’t really care if you feel so. The plot is supposed to go how we discussed. Helen is the female lead and she is the one getting the possessive attention of all the male leads. She is the centre of the show. She is the main character."
The man on the other end of the line continued, "So I don’t understand what’s up with the changes. Why is that villain who is supposed to die like Chapters ago still there? And why the hell is the villain taking the centre stage??"
The man sighed and continued, frustrated, "I wouldn’t even have known about this dumb change if someone hadn’t asked me about what happened to the original plot. It was then I discovered that that stupid villain wasn’t dead but was stealing the show!"
The young man had a hand on his waist without saying anything. He listened as the man continued.
"And as if that’s not all... you’re making them all gay now? Was this even supposed to be a gay novel? It started off as a straight novel. A girl and four guys... or five. Whatever. But that was how it was marketed and how everyone knows it!"
"So why the hell is it changing halfway?! Why the hell is the villain who is supposed to be dead there and turning the whole male leads gay to fall for him? Does that make sense?!"
The man sounded frustrated.
The young man sighed. "Well... it does make sense. I mean, it’s dumb if the villain also doesn’t want to live. He has some backstory and surely would strive to live and so..."
"I don’t care about your creative takes or whatsoever. I don’t care about his backstory or whatsoever. I care about the original plot."
"But people don’t really seem to have a problem with it. Most people are tuning in because of the twist, and people said they’re loving it more than the original plot which was cliché..."
"It’s not up to us to decide. It’s up to the company and those who invested in this! And this is not what they signed up for. Sure people like it, but can’t you see it’s losing money? It’s not making as much as it was making when it was the original plot?!" The man questioned.
The man sighed and said, "This is business and you shouldn’t bring your opinion if it’s not approved. So take it back where it should be. Set things straight—pun intended."
The young man sighed. He didn’t reply as he seemed reluctant to make the changes.
"Let’s start with this, maybe," the man sighed as he said, "Take him back to his evil path. I think it all started because you were bent on making a villain good. So take him back to his evil route. Make him do something evil. And make him keep doing evil stuff so the male leads hate him. And maybe... I don’t know, make the female lead strong and take down the wizard guy. That way she’s back to the scene."
"I don’t care how you do it. Just set things straight. Okay?!" He snapped at the young man.
The young man sighed and then nodded. "Okay then... I’ll see what I can do."
"Make sure you get it done. Start tonight and pen down something and post. Okay?"
"Sure."
"Okay then."
They ended the call.
The young man hesitated for a while, staring out at the moon.
He was in a dilemma and thought about what to do. He stared at the moon for a long time as though it held some answers to his confusion.
And after a while of thinking, he turned and made his way back to his messy room.
He walked past the mess on the floor and arrived at his study table where his laptop was. And then he sat down before it, staring at the blank space.
He had to pop up some words before midnight so he’d meet the update schedule. Staring at the time, he had two hours to do that.
The young man sighed as he cracked his head and placed his fingers on the keyboard.
He hesitated and thought for a while. Thinking of what to start writing. He thought about how to logically incorporate what his editor had told him and pen it down.
He didn’t seem to have any alternative left but to do so.
And so he thought for some time before he started filling up the blank space with words.
