[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 131: Ch : Nero’s Return
The imperial palace was a noisy place. It had too many people going in and out at all times, and there was abundant staff. Plus, there were two children in the palace as well, so it had never been a quiet place.
But today, it seemed to be especially noisy.
All this noise did not usually bother Shuu, but today was different. Today, it was getting to his head, and he rubbed his forehead as he watched the kids playing around in the garden.
He had not gotten much sleep these past few days, and for the first time in a long while, it was not because of Emperor Kaiden.
The nightmares had returned, and it was worse than it had ever been before.
Every night, the dreams of fire plagued his mind, and every morning, they escaped his memory, almost as if they had never occurred. Shuu could not recall what he dreamed of, but the terrified feeling left behind told him more than enough.
Due to this, his body felt constantly tired, and his head threatened to drop any second and let sleep take him over.
But despite this, he forced himself to stay awake and fight the sting in his eyes. He focused on the kids playing in front of him, and that subdued the headache a little.
"Shuu, come and join us..."
Caelis’s small hand clutched Shuu’s shirt, and he tugged him toward the garden. Shuu’s body followed that command unconsciously, and before he knew it, he was standing in the middle of the garden.
Rin grabbed Shuu’s other side as Caelis turned him around.
"Shuu, catch us."
"M-Me too..."
Rin grabbed Shuu’s other side and turned him around as well. He was feeling a lot more dizzy compared to before, and his eyes kept drooping by the second as well.
He closed them, but instead of making him feel better, it made him feel worse. He wobbled, and the kids instantly stopped.
"Shuu, alright?"
Caelis asked, now looking worried, and Shuu felt bad for worrying the kids. He quickly sat down and let out a sigh.
"I am fine. I am just not feeling well at the moment. Don’t worry. I just need to sleep."
Shuu doubted the two kids could understand what he was saying. But sometimes, the look Caelis gave him made him feel like he knew more than he let on.
"Alright..."
Caelis’s look was doubtful, and Shuu just smiled at him in the same reassuring manner as he always did.
With one last careful look back, both Caelis and Rin went back to playing. But they did not go too far.
Shuu looked at them for as long as he could before he lost the battle with his body and his eyes closed. His body relaxed, and his mind slowly slipped back into the nice darkness that welcomed him every time he wanted to relax.
Soon, the fog would clear, and he would see the same nightmare that was making it hard for him to sleep.
A hand touched his shoulder, and the sudden cold touch made Shuu flinch. It also felt familiar and foreign at the same time.
’This dream... it feels different... I am feeling different...’ 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Shuu forced his eyes to open before he blinked and looked around. He spotted a soft mattress under him and a beautiful pink wall in front of him.
The place he was in looked foreign but familiar at the same time. He tried to get up, but a pair of strong arms around him stopped him.
"Hmm, are you awake already? You should go back to sleep."
There was a sudden movement behind Shuu, and the hands holding him down retreated before one reached out to touch his face lightly.
Shuu furrowed his brows as he looked back, but the light made it hard for him to notice the features of the other person.
He wanted to panic at the unfamiliar voice calling out to him, but everything in him told him that he was in a familiar place, so there was no need for him to worry.
"Hmm, it seems like your fever has spiked once more. I knew it was a bad idea for you to push yourself like you did. But don’t worry. Now that you are away from that thing who calls herself your ’mother,’ you will be fine. I will take care of you now."
Nothing this man said made sense. But Shuu’s instincts told him that this was where he wanted to be, and this man was important to him.
Finally, his eyes adjusted, and he was able to get a good look at the man looming over him.
He had black hair and red eyes, but his face looked different from Prince Kaiden’s. It was more youthful and filled with happiness and honesty. But there was also much more darkness behind his eyes.
Shuu tried to reach for his face, but his arm protested. He looked down at it, only to see it covered in bandages.
"I..."
His throat throbbed in pain as he tried to speak. It was hard for him to convey what he wanted to.
But somehow, the other man seemed to get it, and he grabbed Shuu’s hand.
"Don’t worry. It’s all over now-"
As soon as the man said this, the room began to shake. The smile disappeared from the beautiful man’s face, and annoyance took over.
"Tsk, it seems like your mother is not going to back off so easily, even after losing everything. Then, I guess I have no choice but to go and have a ’talk’ with her. Don’t worry. We will always be together."
The man promised, and Shuu felt a sudden uneasiness in his heart.
"D-Don’t-!"
Shuu tried to reach out, but his body was too tired to hold on.
The man looked back at Shuu with a sad but beautiful smile.
"It’s alright, honey. You don’t have to worry about me. Even if the war starts again, I promise I will not leave you. So just rest and recover for me."
The man told Shuu before he left him alone.
