The silence in the room could suffocate someone. The guard did not dare meet Emperor Kaiden’s gaze and quickly shifted to look around.

No one was sure what was going on anyway, so they had no answer to give to the Angry Emperor at the moment.

Thankfully, Shuu was an understanding person, and a single look around told him pretty much what he wanted to know regarding this situation.

"Everyone, calm down for now. It seems that someone did something to my room, so I will need to relocate for today. I will go ask Princess Danielle-"

"Come with me. You and the kids will stay with me until we find out exactly what is going on here. Nero, I will leave you in charge of this situation. Make sure you catch what is happening."

Emperor Kaiden grabbed Shuu’s arm and tugged at him to follow.

Shuu opened his mouth to refuse the Emperor’s offer, but a single look made it clear to him that anything he said here would likely not reach the Emperor’s ears.

’I will calm Kaiden down once we are alone. For now, I should get the kids out of here.’

Both Rin and Caelis looked tense. He disliked seeing the worry on their young faces, so he allowed himself to be dragged away, and the kids followed.

Emperor Kaiden took Shuu to his room and closed the door behind him. His back looked too tense for Shuu to start a conversation, but he knew that he still needed to try.

"Kaiden, let’s calm down-"

The emperor turned around, and whatever Shuu wanted to say got caught in his throat as soon as he saw that heartbroken look on the Emperor’s face.

Strong arms wrapped around his middle, and Emperor Kaiden’s face rested in the crook of his shoulder and neck.

"I don’t want to hear it... I don’t want to hear anything. Just... let me stay like this for a minute..."

The emperor sounded a little scared as he held Shuu close. His body was shaking just a little, which made Shuu worried as well.

’W-What do I do...? I-Is the emperor... shaking...?’

The only thing Shuu knew to do in this situation was to coax the emperor’s lips and calm him down with a kiss.

But he did not want to do that in front of the kids. So he felt like he was in a bind.

"K-Kaiden... let’s calm down-"

Strong hands left his waist and came up to his face. A finger shyly touched his lips before lips were pressed against his own.

All of Shuu’s resistance flew out of the window as soon as he felt the smooth texture of lips over his own. He returned the kiss with just as much passion as he was being kissed with.

He almost got carried away and deepened the kiss when he suddenly felt someone tugging his pants.

Shuu broke apart for some air and looked down at Caelis... who was covering Rin’s eyes and looking away.

The poor kid was not even looking at Shuu and the emperor out of embarrassment.

Shuu chuckled at the scene, and his heart felt lighter. He looked at Emperor Kaiden, and the Emperor looked considerably happier as well.

"Let’s leave the fun times for when we are alone. For now, should we head back to bed?"

Shuu asked the Emperor, but his eyes looked at the kids when he asked this. The poor kids looked like they wanted to fall asleep. They were fighting hard to keep their eyes open, but they kept failing. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Shuu grabbed Rin and Caelis and, despite his fragile frame, brought them to bed.

"We are not tired. We can remain awake..."

Caelis spoke in between yawns while Rin was already falling asleep.

"I am sure you can stay awake. But for now, why don’t you fall asleep? We can talk about it all later."

Shuu told the kids as he patted their heads. They looked at Shuu with an innocent look on their faces but ultimately decided that it was fine for them to go to sleep.

"You... better take care of Shuu..."

Caelis looked at Kaiden when he spoke these words. But ultimately, he lost the fight against sleep and closed his eyes.

Silence filled the room once the kids were asleep, and Emperor Kaiden put a barrier around them to not let them get disturbed.

Once that was done, Shuu felt the bed beside him sag, and the Emperor sat behind him.

Arms quickly wrapped themselves around him once more, and a wet mouth nibbled at his neck.

It felt nice and familiar, but his eyes kept looking at the kids, and it made Shuu elbow the man behind him.

"Now is not the time. The kids are sleeping."

He told the Emperor, who let out a whine as he looked at Shuu.

"I know. But I want some attention as well. I promise I will not go too far. I just... need to make sure you are alright."

Emperor Kaiden’s voice was shaking a little bit. He almost sounded afraid of something, which did not suit him.

Shuu wanted to turn around and look at the Emperor’s face, but the grip around him did not allow that to happen.

So he sighed and remained in his place... for now.

"It will be fine. Whatever you are scared of will not happen."

Shuu assured the Emperor, and Prince Kaiden nodded in reassurance. But Shuu had a feeling the emperor did not truly believe in his words.

They sat in silence until it was time for them to go to sleep. Shuu allowed his body to relax, and he sank into the bed. His eyes felt heavy, and before he knew it, he was dragged into a dreamless sleep.

He felt refreshed when he woke up the next morning, and looking at the scene in front of him made him feel much better.

Emperor Kaiden was on one side, and the kids were on the other. This was exactly where he wanted to be... and he would have gone back to sleep, had his body not betrayed him with its needs.

He dragged himself off the bed and toward the washroom. Once he relieved himself, he dragged himself back into bed and fell asleep again.
