"If that is what you are saying, then I guess I have no choice but to agree with you regarding this. But I am still not sure if this is the right thing to do."

Nero told the Emperor, but he did not say anything further.

After all, even if he wanted to suggest an alternative, he did not have a choice.

Emperor Kaiden let out a chuckle before he and Nero headed toward the place where the demon king was sealed.

Since it was a journey done using Emperor Kaiden’s powers, it took them no time at all.

The sword that sealed the demon king was vibrating with power, and the Emperor headed toward it before grabbing the handle. His presence caused the sword to grow excited, and it vibrated even more.

"What a hassle. I guess it’s time for us to finally become one once more."

Kaiden spoke and grabbed the sword. But the second he did, he could tell that something was wrong.

The image of the demon king appeared in front of him, but the smile on that familiar face was twisted.

"Y-You...fell for it...! Now give me your body. That previous person is mine-!"

The demon king attacked Kaiden, and he was not in a position to block it. But luckily for him, he had Nero to block that attack.

"You-! Get out of the way-"

The demon king complained seconds before Kaiden started to pull his strength out of him.

"Tsk, what an annoying personality you have developed. Now come back to me-"

Kaiden pulled all his power back, but the demon king resisted.

"No-! I will not pull back. I do not want to be here while you get to enjoy our beloved. Why is it you-? Why never me-? I had him first-"

Kaiden’s fist grabbed the demon king, and he pulled him close.

"Stop being jealous. We are the same person. You are a part of me as well. If you desperately miss Shuu, then come with me. You no longer have to be alone."

Kaiden told the demon king in front of him, and the stunned demon king let out a chuckle at his words.

"Ahhhhh...your words sound so sweet. Unfortunately, it is already too late for this. That annoying goddess has already found a way into this world of ours, and I...was not able to stop her."

The demon king sounded fragile. He sounded so different from the confident person Nero had seen before.

It almost seemed as if something had changed in him.

"So, what happened exactly?"

Kaiden asked the disappearing demon king, and the demon king let out a sigh.

"As you realized, every time I get sealed, that part of me gets smaller and smaller. It gets absorbed inside you and becomes a part of you. I used to have no problems with this since we were the same person...until recently...there was a voice, and I felt like I was losing my mind...and then...it told me...that I had a chance with...him as well..."

The demon king disappeared, and the power returned to Kaiden.

Now that they were one, he could view the demon king’s memories and his desperation.

He also understood what the demon king meant by that voice.

"Tsk, the goddess found a way to infiltrate this world using her remaining powers. But I will make sure she won’t be able to interfere again."

Emperor Kaiden waved his hand, and with the demon king’s power back in his grasp, he was able to close the rift and push the goddess’s power out...or so he thought.

But the goddess let out a chuckle as she used the remaining power she had recovered to set her final pawn into motion.

"Ah...finally...it is all done. Hehehehe, I finally managed to influence that place in a meaningful way. Now, my treasure will return to me soon."

Long golden hair fell to the ground as the goddess shifted on her throne. Her servants who saw her looked away so as not to see her form.

But purple eyes lazily moved over them before returning to the body of water beneath her throne.

It showed the demon king being devoured by Emperor Kaiden, and that was the last glimpse she had of that world.

But it did not matter at this point. All the interference she had done was finally going to set things in motion.

"My treasure will come back to me soon. And once it does, the war will begin once more. And this time, I will make sure...I will not have to back down..."

The goddess felt satisfied with what had happened up until now.

Even if she had used all the power she had recovered, she knew that it had all been worth it.

"G-Goddess Astoria...are you sure...your weapon will be able to help you out? It has been so long...since..."

The servant quickly threw himself on the ground as soon as that question left his mouth. But the goddess did not look angry. Her eyes remained calm, causing the servant to feel like he had made a mistake.

"I-I will take my leave now-"

"Hmm, alright. You are free to go now."

The goddess told the servant, and he took a few steps back...only to explode.

"Oh, looks like there is an accident. Someone, take care of this mess for me."

The goddess dismissed the incident as easily as breathing, and people quickly followed her orders. No one wanted to get on her bad side because of what she might do to them next.

Goddess Astoria watched this all happen with her purple eyes.

"Ah, no one understands my affection for my treasure. Tsk, if not for that blasted demon king...but at least, I will get my treasure back soon. Finally, after all this time, I will have it back."

Soon, the last ’gift’ the goddess had left behind would start working, and her treasure would break the demon king.

That disturbance and all her interference would create the perfect opportunity for her to take back what was hers...

As long as no one else interfered, it would be her victory.
