Caelis’s words stumped Shuu a lot more than he expected. He had not expected his son to ask such a question. Especially with such a sulky look on his face.

Rin also looked up at Shuu with an excited look on his face, his eyes searching for an answer from the elder.

’Oh dear-! How should I answer this question?’

The servants had started to pay attention to him as well, and he knew that whatever he said here would go back to the ears of other nobles and cause them to gossip.

Still, the looks on the kids’ faces were asking him for an answer, and Shuu decided to focus on them instead of the servants.

"Do you...want me to marry Kaiden?"

Shuu asked, and Caelis’s face twisted into an annoyed frown.

"No-! I don’t want you to marry. I won’t share-! Not with Father-!"

The servants looked horrified and amused at the same time at Caelis’s words, and Shuu did not know whether he felt relieved or annoyed. Many thought that Caelis was just playing around, as kids often do.

But the look on his face...was not something kids usually had. At least, not the kids Shuu had seen before.

"Shuu, if Father tells you to stay with him, then run-! He will lock you up and-"

"You are speaking too much, kid. Did you forget that I am your father? Stop bad-mouthing me in front of Shuu."

Emperor Kaiden had arrived right on time and picked up Caelis.

The kid struggled in his arms for a moment before he settled down and gave up. The frown on his face looked out of place as he tried his best to break free.

"Let go-! Nooo. Shuu...help...!"

Caelis extended his arms toward Shuu dramatically, only for Emperor Kaiden to pull him back into his arms and not let go.

"Don’t ask Shuu for help. It’s between you and me now, kid. Now, tell me what your problem with me is? Why don’t you want me to marry Shuu? It’s not right to be this possessive of someone."

It was wrong for Emperor Kaiden to say that to a kid. Especially with how possessive he was. And he knew it himself.

He also knew that Caelis was right. He did want to trap Shuu in his hold and make it such that Shuu would never be able to leave.

But he was controlling his desire right now. He did not want to frighten Shuu with the intensity of what he was feeling.

"Alright, this is enough. Kaiden, give Caelis here. I think he’s learned his lesson."

Shuu reached out for the kid, and Kaiden handed him over quickly. He was never able to say no to Shuu in any situation, and this was no different.

Caelis let out a relieved sigh before giving Kaiden an annoyed look and then hiding behind Shuu’s legs.

Shuu let out an amused chuckle as he watched the kids interact, and then he looked at Kaiden with a serious expression on his face.

"I see that you finally got time to come out of your dungeon and experience the human world? You look a little tired and hungry. Do you want to have lunch?"

It was a little early for lunch, but Shuu was getting hungry at this point as well.

Kaiden looked thankful for Shuu’s attention and immediately placed his forehead over Shuu’s shoulder.

The sudden touch made Shuu panic, and he immediately reached out to check on the Emperor, only for Kaiden to speak up. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Just let me stay like this for a while. I want to bask in your presence. We can head out for lunch after that."

Shuu’s hands were stuck by his side, but he did bring them around the Emperor to hold him loosely.

It was a calm moment where neither moved. They might have remained like that for the whole day if Caelis and Rin had not grabbed them and forced them to follow.

"Shuu, hungry. Let’s eat."

And just like that, Shuu was forced to follow the kids, and Kaiden, who still had a grip around Shuu’s waist, also followed them back.

The maids and guards decided to subtly look away and pretend they did not see anything.

"How long are you going to sulk like this, Lady Canarie? Do you feel remorse for your actions, now that you are back to your senses? You cannot spend your whole life inside this room."

Duke Inferno spoke to Lady Canarie through the door and waited for her to reply back. But there was no response from the other side, which made him sigh in annoyance.

"How long are you going to be like this? I will give you one last chance, and then I will force this door open. Just let me know that you are alive."

There was no response from the other side of the door. But just as Duke Inferno decided to break the door down, someone spoke up.

"I...It was not me. T-That attack...it was not me. I felt someone taking control of me and I...I did not want to do it. Please, believe me."

Princess Canarie begged for people to understand that it had not been her. But no one understood her fears.

Even her cousin had turned her head away from Canarie and let her rot in here.

And Canarie wanted to understand Danielle’s position, but she could not. She could not understand why the person who had stood by her side suddenly betrayed her like this.

"I know it was not you, Lady Canarie. Someone blessed by the goddess like you cannot do something wrong. It must be a curse someone cast on you because they were jealous of you. And if you want to take revenge, you need to pull yourself together."

Those words worked like a soothing balm to Lady Canarie’s heart, and she immediately became alert.

"A curse-! Yes, this is a curse...! It has to be. Why else would I...but who would curse me?"

She questioned, and Duke Inferno smiled at how easy she was.

"Hmm, who else would curse you but the one who has the most to gain out of your disappearance? I am sure you are bright enough to figure out who it is."
