[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 90: Ch : Responsibility
The kitchen was busy when Shuu and Princess Danielle entered it. The cooks noticed them but chose to ignore them in favor of continuing to cook.
It was an odd situation, and Shuu never thought he would ever see a member of the imperial family be ignored openly. But it was happening, and Princess Danielle seemed used to it.
She coughed, and the head cook finally noticed her and walked over to her with a frown on his face.
"What do you want, Princess Danielle? Can’t you see that I and my cooks are busy?"
The head cook sounded beyond rude and fearless. He also held his head high, knowing fully well that the kitchen was his domain and nothing could change unless he got on Lady Sera’s bad side.
But as long as she was on his side, his position was secure.
"I am not here to argue with you today. I just need to check with you about the menu for the tea party in the next two days. Do you have a list of items you can prepare?"
She asked, and the chef frowned.
"I am afraid that we won’t be able to do much that day. Lady Sera has volunteered us to cook for a charity event, and we will be busy there. Now, if that was all, then you are free to leave."
The more the head cook spoke, the calmer Princess Danielle’s expression became. It was clear that she was holding herself back, and Shuu wondered how long this insulting situation had been going on for.
Princess Danielle just sighed and stepped back for now.
"I see. So you have no intention of cooperating with me? That is fine. I will report this to Prince Kaiden then. You can give your explanation to him."
The head cook immediately scoffed at her words.
"And what will that accomplish? We were appointed by Lady Sera herself. Do you think Prince Kaiden will fire us-"
"Why not? Since you seem so interested in doing charity work, you all should go there permanently. I can always hire new people to work in the kitchen." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Prince Kaiden walked through the kitchen doors and instantly stood by Shuu’s side. His presence surprised the head cook, who instantly gave a low bow.
"T-That is not what I... Lady Sera only likes food prepared by hand. I-If you send me away-"
"Yeah-! That’s right. She does like the food prepared by your hand."
The head cook suddenly felt relieved, and he looked up with hopeful eyes.
"Then I-"
"So you can accompany her back home. Since she will be leaving the imperial palace soon, you should go with her. I am sure she will like that."
The sudden declaration made the cooks gasp, and the head cook realized that he had clung to the wrong thighs. Because of this, his career was finally over.
’No-! I cannot let this happen-! I will need to hold my position, even if I have to abandon ship.’
The head cook had a gambling habit that he could only sustain because of his salary and the funds he stole from the imperial palace. If he was let go, then he would become broke.
"S-Sir, I have been the imperial chef for so long. I know all there is to tea parties and such. Please allow me to-"
"But what will happen to Sera if you do that? You should go with her. In fact, I insist that you go with her. This is not a suggestion."
The head cook headed toward Shuu’s legs to try and hold them. But Prince Kaiden caught him before he could do that and pulled him away.
A single look at the crown prince’s eyes was enough to tell the head cook that he was not going to get any mercy here-especially not from the crown prince.
"You did not have to fire that cook off."
Shuu pointed out, feeling a little guilty about what happened.
Since he was used to people not liking him, he had not seen what the big deal here was. A simple warning would have been enough to put the head cook in his place. Firing him was not necessary.
But Prince Kaiden’s sigh told Shuu that he was mistaken about something.
"Shuu, you need to learn to treasure yourself a little more. You let just anyone walk all over you, and I don’t like it."
Prince Kaiden pouted as he said these words. His unhappy expression made Shuu feel a little guilty, and even Liam seemed to be in agreement this time.

"Anyway, what brings the ever-busy crown prince here?"
Princess Danielle questioned with a bright look in her eyes. She was surprised to see Prince Kaiden here, but it was a good surprise. She knew she could make use of it if she played her cards right.
"Prince Kaiden is-"
"I am here to help Shuu out, since I have some free time. What else do you need on your shopping list? I will help you buy it."
Prince Kaiden promised without missing a single beat. He stepped beside Shuu, and their arms brushed against each other.
His presence beside Shuu made his mouth feel dry and his heart tingle. He was not sure if this was good for him or bad for him.
But the smile Lady Sera was giving him just made his heart skip even harder.
"I see. Well, looks like our preparations for the tea party just became a lot easier all of a sudden. Ah, about that escort-will you be coming with Lady Sera?"
Shuu tensed at that question, wondering what Prince Kaiden would answer.
But the crown prince just sighed and shook his head.
"Lady Sera has her father to enter with. I will come with Shuu. Since he does not have a strong family backing, he will need my support."
Of course, this was all bullshit, and the only reason Prince Kaiden said this was to not burden Shuu more than he already had.
But from the looks he was getting, it did not seem as if he was very successful.
