Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Mine... Even If You Deny It

"No," Adrian yelled. "I’m not staying here. Take me home."

Matteo didn’t argue. He reached in, grabbed his arm, and pulled him out in one rough motion.

"Let go of me!" Adrian shouted, stumbling as his feet hit the concrete. "I want to go back to my house. It’s not that hard to understand, Matteo. Are you deaf or what? Can’t you hear me?"

Matteo stepped closer, his voice low and controlled. "Don’t push me more than you already have tonight, Adrian. Walk... or I’ll make you."

Adrian saw the flicker of real darkness in Matteo’s eyes and felt a chill. He moved, stomping toward the entrance.

They walked inside.

The place is different.

Bigger. Quieter. Guards were everywhere, different faces, different suits, and the maids moved silently through the halls. It felt more locked down than the last place.

They went upstairs to a large bedroom. The door shut behind them with a soft click.

Adrian walked to the far side of the room, then turned to face Matteo. "Why did you bring me here? What is this place?"

Matteo sat on the edge of the bed, elbows resting on his knees, trying to keep himself in check.

"I’m talking to you!" Adrian persisted, his voice rising. "Why did you drag me here like a criminal? Why?"

Matteo finally looked up, his eyes locking onto him. "We had a plan, Adrian. You told me to pick you up after work. Then you went somewhere else without saying a word. You ignored me and went to a bar... to put your mouth on someone else."

"I don’t owe you every second of my day!" Adrian shot back. "I wanted to be with my friends. I wanted to be around normal people for once!"

Matteo stood up slowly. The way he moved made Adrian step back without thinking.

"Normal people?" Matteo repeated. "You were seconds away from kissing a woman in front of everyone... and you think I’m just going to sit back and watch you give away what belongs to me?"

"I don’t belong to you!" Adrian screamed. "I am a man! I am straight! I was trying to find my own life again before you started acting like you own my soul!"

Matteo’s expression hardened. "You’re a man? You’re straight?" Matteo’s voice dropped, low and controlled. "Then tell me, Adrian... what did last night mean to you? Why did you kiss my cheek this morning like a lover?"

Adrian opened his mouth. "That was—"

"That was you giving me a piece of yourself," Matteo interrupted, his hand snapping out to grip Adrian’s jaw. "And in my world, once I have a piece of something, I take the rest. I don’t share. And I don’t look at anyone else but the one I have my eyes on."

Adrian swallowed, trying to steady himself. "I can kiss anyone I like. You don’t own my lips."

Matteo’s thumb brushed lightly over Adrian’s lower lip, his voice dropping, low and dangerous. "If you wanted a kiss so badly tonight... why not kiss me?"

"That would never happen," Adrian said. "You will never get that chance."

He turned toward the door. "Just leave me alone... I don’t belong to you."

Something in the room shifted.

Without a word, Matteo moved. He stepped forward and lifted Adrian off his feet.

Adrian let out a sharp scream, his legs kicking as he struggled.

"Let me go! Leave me alone!"

They landed on the bed, the mattress dipping under their weight. Matteo moved quickly, his fingers going to the buttons of his shirt, undoing them one after the other.

Adrian’s heart pounded hard in his chest, panic rising.

"What are you doing?" Adrian asked, watching him undo his buttons.

Then his voice rose, panic slipping in. "Are you trying to force yourself on me?"

Matteo didn’t answer. He just leaned closer.

"Don’t touch me!" Adrian shouted, pushing hard against his chest, fighting with everything he had. "Don’t you dare!"

But as Matteo shrugged off his suit jacket and tossed it aside, he didn’t reach for Adrian’s clothes. Instead, he leaned over him, his weight hovering just inches away, his breathing heavy.

Matteo wrapped an arm around Adrian. "Can you just stop being stubborn for a second?" he said.

Adrian didn’t stop. He kept pushing, his face flushed with anger, until Matteo spoke again. The words were quiet, so unexpected that Adrian’s hands froze mid-air.

"I never wanted to control you," Matteo said, pulling back slightly so he could look at Adrian. "I never wanted to yell at you. I’m sorry... I’m sorry for dragging you out like that."

Adrian just stared at him, his mouth slightly open, the fight leaving him slowly.

"All I’m asking," Matteo continued, his voice softer now, "is for you to teach me. Teach me how to do this right... How to be gentle with you. Because I really like you, Adrian. I mean it."

Silence followed.

Adrian stopped fighting, his hands falling to the sheets. The anger in him faded, replaced by something else he couldn’t quite name.

Matteo shifted slightly, looking down at Adrian’s shocked face. "You broke your promise tonight. I had a whole plan for us... Don’t you think I deserve an apology for that?"

Adrian didn’t answer. He stayed still, pinned beneath Matteo, staring up at him like he wanted to disappear into the sheets.

Matteo lowered his head, his lips brushing lightly against Adrian’s neck. "Tell me... What is it you don’t like about me?" he asked quietly. "Is it my personality... or the fact that I’m a man?"

Adrian didn’t hesitate. The words came out before he could stop himself. "Both. So get off me."

A faint, sad smile touched Matteo’s lips. He didn’t pull away. Instead, he pressed a slow kiss to the side of Adrian’s neck, his breath warm against his skin. "It hurts, Adrian. It really hurts... that you broke your word to me."

"It doesn’t matter how many times you say it," Adrian murmured, "I’m not apologizing."

Matteo let out a quiet breath, some of the tension leaving his shoulders. "Fine. Don’t say it. But at least admit it was wrong. I put effort into tonight... and you ruined it before it even started."

Adrian didn’t admit to anything. He couldn’t bring himself to give Matteo that victory, but his curiosity finally got the better of him. "What was it? What did you plan?"

Matteo’s gaze shifted. "Forget it. It doesn’t matter anymore."

"Yes, it doesn’t matter," Adrian said, his voice softening just a little. "Because you never showed me."

Matteo looked back at him, his eyes fixed on him. "If I show you now... will it matter?"

Adrian held his gaze for a moment, the silence stretching between them. "Maybe... it will." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

A small chuckle slipped from Matteo. He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to Adrian’s forehead, then lifted himself off him. He stood beside the bed and held out his hand.

"Come on," Matteo said, a small smile on his lips as he looked at me. "Come with me."

Adrian hesitated for a second, then reached out and took his hand...
