Seoha’s POV

My eyes remain glued to the gun as the alpha flips the page of his book.

The alpha looks completely serene, like a man in perfect control, his glasses sit perfectly on the bridge of his nose and his dark hair looks messy from being run through many times by his fingers.

"I- that night I broke up with my boyfriend" I start to talk and he clicks his tongue; the sound is a warning, the first drop of rain on the roof before the storm.

"Shin Seoha-ssi, that doesn’t answer my question" he says and I wince, fingers squeezing the fabric of my pants nervously as I swallow, I hate having to talk about my family.

My mother’s family.

"I stole because I have nowhere to go, Taesan-ssi I apologize, but that’s not who I am" I say quickly, pressing my palms together and he finally looks up, his calm stare makes me feel unrest.

"Shin Yechan is a close associate of my...business" he says and I shake my head as it dawns on me, he might think of me as a spy, "I don’t know, I left home-"

"The Shin wealth is still rising steadily, even after the death of the man...and you don’t know?" Taesan asks, the darkness is slowly returning to his eyes and the choking feeling returns.

Tired of being caught in messes that I have no control over, I put my hands down to hold on to the fabrics of my pants again, maybe it will keep me from sinking.

"I-" I try to speak.

"And his son is stealing, what are you, Shin Seoha?" Taesan asks as he closes the book in front of him and leans back in the chair.

The man’s eyes look like they already have the answer they need...but like he also wants to see what I have...and I have nothing.

Nothing but tears, a guitar and a broken heart, what more does Kang Taesan want from me?

"Yechan is a chaebol, he owns a forty percent share of the KinSun tech, owns Shin real estate and records tells me that his son...a certain Shin Seoha has inherited a large amount of his share-" he keeps listing it all.

Each word he says causes my head to spin, taking me right back to just before I slipped under omega space, why is this happening?

"They stole it from me!" I say loudly as I get out of the seat abruptly.

Taesan’s alpha eyes flash at me but he only takes a deep breath, taming himself and permitting me to interrupt him.

"Yes, dad has all that but...it all gone, everything...they took it all from me" I say with tears filling my eyes again.

Taesan picks the gun and cocks it, the noise causes my breath to catch in my throat, but the dam is already broken, he can do whatever he wants with me.

"Dad didn’t want me! He didn’t want us in the first place" I sob and wipe angrily at my face with the back of my hand.

I will say it all and face the consequence, I’m already in hell anyways, why not just...die.

"He never cared but because he was dying, he needed a stand-in puppet, I wasn’t going to do it" I cry and get up to my feet, "grandma hated him for hurting us, she didn’t want that for me, but mom went anyways!"

Taesan watches me babble and babble, not interrupting me for a second...

"I couldn’t go back here, so I ran into Daeshin and- and he gave me the best moments of my life, he loved me" my hand grips the sides of my head, it’s all too raw.

The desperate wish for my dad to come home to us, for him to teach me the things all the other boys bragged their dads did, I wanted him to just be there...

It’s like we are back at the hotel again; I am wearing the same stained clothes, he is watching me with the same cold expression and calculating eyes while I am breaking apart.

"I don’t fucking care about your ex, I only want answers to the questions" the alpha says and his pheromones smells burnt at the mention of the word ’ex’ almost like it personally offends him.

Answers? What is the answer?

"Father left everything for me on paper, but I didn’t plan to touch any of them...I never planned to until Daeshin- and-and I found out that they took it all" my words are jumbled and meaningless even to me.

"Shin Seoha, I told you, one lie one damaged body part" Taesan reminds me and my knees weaken as all the anger leaves me and single tear slides down my cheek.

"It’s not a lie...my family...my mother’s family took everything from me" I cover my face and turn my back on him, I hear the alpha push his seat back.

"You can do whatever you want to me, you can-" my words die as he pushes me against the wall and leans in, "breathe" he says and I gasps.

As air fills my lungs, I realize just how hard I had been breathing, almost hyperventilating from the tears and pains.

"Your father walked out on you?" he asks and I nod, "breathe" he commands again and I shake my head, I’m trying to breathe but it’s difficult to.

"Omega" he growls and the spinning in my head comes to a stop, he puts his hand under my chin and lifts my face, the height difference between us makes me crane my neck.

"You have a magnet for trouble aren’t you" he says, his voice low as he runs his thumb under my eye, catching drops of salty liquid while I have to keep breathing.

"Your relatives stole from you" he says and I nod again.

"And you did nothing?" the alpha asks, voice dipping even lower, my eyes drop to his pursed lips.

"What can I do? I am an omega in this system" I whisper, and a spark of that thoughtless bravery growing in my chest makes me to add, "I stole from you and returned it...yet here I am" I say.

"Yes, here you are, letting me do what I want to you, clueless little deer..." he says and pushes me harder against the wall and I shut my eyes, bracing myself for whatever.
