Black Online-Chapter 143: Fire God and Earth God
Swoosh!
The Virtual Reality Pod opened, and Fang Raon stumbled out of it and turned to the right to see Eira stepping out as well.
She looked unwell for some reason, and she then touched her throat and turned to Fang Raon with a glare.
"Did you really have to stab that sword through my throat? That feels extremely uncomfortable, you know."
"...I am sorry?"
Fang Raon apologized sheepishly.
"Hmph!"
Eira flipped her hair and stepped out of the room in her heels, and there was a little stagger in her steps.
She just walked away as if she was just planning to head off straight back home.
"Giggle~"
There was already someone sitting outside—it seemed like someone had also finished his match—a short young man.
’I didn’t think that someone could’ve finished the match any sooner than I did.’
Fang Raon stepped out of the room, looking at the strange young man, and then sat down on one of the empty chairs.
"You must’ve given her a proper stomping. She looked like she had finished partying for three hours straight—giggle~"
The short young man said with a giggle.
He looked like someone that could still be in middle school, but he had obviously reached the age of maturity, since he was participating in the tournament.
"Are you also participating in the tournament?"
Fang Raon asked.
"Yeah~ Name’s Lock~"
He said with a smile.
’...Lock.’
Fang Raon turned his gaze to the tournament bracket on the whiteboard and saw Lock’s name at the bottom.
’He went against someone named Bjorn Halvorsen, yet he finished that match so quickly. I guess he is pretty strong.’
He thought.
In that moment, other matches started to be wrapped up, and more and more people either left the store in defeat or came to sit down with them.
"The first round matches have concluded. The tournament bracket will be updated shortly. You have a fifteen-minute break before your next match."
The firm-sounding man said.
’Fifteen-minute break. Then it is quarterfinals time. If I win that match, I will already be in the top 4, and I’ll get some of that prize money.’
Fang Raon thought.
Without a doubt, everyone would try their absolute hardest in the next round, and he knew he would have to do the same.
He decided to walk a little bit to clear his head and headed out of the Smart Guy’s Gaming Land.
’It is my first time participating in any kind of tournament, but I must admit, I am feeling quite nervous by now.’
He thought with a chuckle.
It was a good test of his current skill level, but he believed that he was still very much an amateur.
There were people who had played it for years already.
’I did train some swordsmanship during my youth. When I was blind. So, I don’t really know how well I can do now with my vision restored.’
He put his hand over his eyes. Blocking his sight. And listened to everything around him.
’...Well.’
Fang Raon put his hand back down and looked straight ahead—he saw something interesting that made him audibly say, "Whoah."
There was a glass entrance that led to some kind of park on this floor. The inside of the park seemed very green. There were people walking their pets there.
’I know there are some floors that are like huge parks. Water parks. Normal parks. Even amusement parks. I didn’t think there was a man-made park on this floor.’
Fang Raon thought.
However.
He was then done admiring the sight and headed back inside and saw that the firm-sounding man and his assistant, the chirpy-sounding young woman, had finished updating the tournament bracket.
"The match-ups are set!"
They all gathered around the whiteboard.

’Hiroto Sakai... It must be that guy.’
He looked to his left towards a glasses-wearing, black-haired young man—he only remembered him because he participated in the 6th match, and he entered the number 6 room right beside him.
"The fate of the gods is on my side. I have flipped the coin. I’ll win this match."
Hiroto nudged his glasses up his nose bridge, then looked at Fang Raon and smiled confidently.
In his other hand, he had his phone open—showing the flipping coin app—it had landed on the heads.
’Did he really flip the coin, and since it landed on heads, he really thinks that it means fate is on his side? Some people sure are crazy.’
Fang Raon wryly smiled.
Anselma and Soren entered the first room.
And Tomasz and Lourdes entered the second room, and then Fang Raon and Hiroto entered through the third door.
And lastly, Amal and Lock entered through the fourth door.
They all climbed inside their Virtual Reality Pods, and the tournament organizers individually started their games via the control panel.
...
Chirp~ Chirp~
When Fang Raon opened his eyes, he first heard the sound of birds chirping, followed by the rustling of leaves in the wind.
’The location is different.’
Fang Raon thought as he looked over.
During the first match, they were in a treeless forest, but this time around, they were in a forest with lots of trees.
"Hahahaha!"
At that moment, he heard laughter and looked over.
Standing on a hill, Hiroto nudged his glasses up his nose, and his brown grimoire floated atop his right hand.
"I hold the power of the Fire God in my left hand and the power of the Earth God in my right."
He said.
Within his left hand, a fireball emerged. With the right hand, he created an Earth Wall below his feet to lift him up.
’This time I am against Mage? Since the attributes are applied according to one’s real-life self, how is the Mana attribute applied?
’Could it be after the person’s intelligence? The real-world people don’t have any mana in their bodies. It is a fantasy concept.’
Fang Raon thought.
He then pulled out his sword and shield from the inventory—it really didn’t matter to him in the end—all he had to do was win.
