Black Online-Chapter 180: Greedy Players
"Are you related to Fang Raizen?"
Kerr asked with a frown on his face.
After hearing that name, Fang Raon squinted his eyes, and hatred built inside him like a raging fire.
Indeed, he knew that name very well.
And he hated the fact that he shared the same name with him.
"I do. He is my big brother."
Fang Raon said coldly.
"..."
Kerr looked at him, and then he sheathed his knives and suddenly started laughing.
"Hahaha, you should’ve said so!"
"Hmm?"
Fang Raon frowned.
Machary was equally confused, as he was just about to attack Kerr but stopped when he saw his reaction.
"Raizen is my teammate in Dead Redemption. I would never kill his little brother. He might get angry at me, hahaha!"
Kerr laughed.
’...Raizen is in Dead Redemption?’ 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Fang Raon’s eyes widened in surprise.
He hadn’t heard much about his brothers lately and only knew that they were also playing Black Online.
’Wait, Raon is brothers with Raizen the Spear Demon?’
Machary looked stunned.
"Man, what a small world."
Kerr walked to the counter, poured himself some Throat-Killing Whiskey, and gulped it all down in one go.
"Ahhhhh!"
He wiped his lips with the back of his hand, then sat down on the counter and looked at the two young men.
"You’re heading to the 27th floor to link up with your sister and brother?"
Kerr asked.
"No."
Fang Raon said.
"Ooh, I smell some family drama. Not that I care. This is a really bothersome thing, as I can’t kill you now."
Kerr rubbed his chin, and then he had an idea, and he raised his finger.
"I know. I’ll just spare everyone. However, they must give me all of their money in their inventory."
"You’re now fine sparing everyone?"
Fang Raon asked.
"Hmm, sure, why not? It is also a way to prove something to you. Why don’t you go tell everyone to come out?"
Kerr said with a smirk.
"..."
Fang Raon looked at him, quite hesitant to trust him, but decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.
He walked to the basement, and after a while, came back out, and this time around, he was joined with many players.
"...Are you sure that he’ll spare us?"
The old man whispered.
"Mmh."
Fang Raon nodded, then backed away to the corner and watched as Kerr stood back up—that alone scared the players.
"Alright, I’ll let all of you live as long as you give me all of your money. Every single coin... If you don’t, I’ll kill you."
Kerr said with a smile.
The players paled, and they swallowed their complaints, and pulled out their money from the inventory and started handing everything over to him.
They all had soon emptied their ’wallets.’
"Now, the two of you."
Kerr looked at Machary and Fang Raon with a smile, and they looked briefly surprised, as they thought for a moment they wouldn’t.
With gritted teeth, both Machary and Fang Raon pulled out their money from their inventory and handed it all over to him.
"Nice~ Goodbye then."
Kerr said with a laugh and walked out of the tavern—when he left, everyone let out a sigh of relief.
’I gave away a total of 38 thousand gold coins. That hurts so much. However, it is a small price to pay since the alternative was dying.’
Fang Raon thought with a frown.
He felt like he had been suffering loss after loss lately—it was like he couldn’t win no matter what he was doing.
White Tiger King situation was the only thing that gave him a slight sense of victory, but it was a team effort with Machary.
In actuality, it was Machary who did the most work during White Tiger King, as Machary was the more skilled fighter.
They were quite equal during the fight over at Battle Island, but it felt like Machary had increased the gap lately.
’He has been training really hard. I can’t wait for that Rock’s hellish training camp. I am tired of being weak.’
Fang Raon thought.
"Hehe~"
In that moment, he heard some players laughing, and Fang Raon looked over with perked-up ears.
"I only gave him half of my coins, and that moron didn’t even notice!"
"I did the same, but I didn’t even give him half. Hah, that’s what the bastard gets!"
A couple of players were laughing with each other as they believed that they had ’fooled’ Kerr Gehram.
’He was correct... The players, even when faced with death, would try to fool him because of pure greed. This is what Kerr wanted to show me.’
Fang Raon thought, and then he looked angry.
He stood up and approached the two laughing players, and without saying a word, he punched them across the face.
SMACK!
"Argh!"
The two of them cried out in surprise and fell to the ground because of the sudden punch that came out of nowhere.
"What are you doing?!"
The old man asked.
With a confused look, Machary also watched and saw that some players were about to attack Fang Raon for what he did.
"Don’t even think about it."
Machary stopped them with his katana, and the players turned pale before they decided to back off.
"What the fuck are you doing?"
"You punched me, you idiot!"
The two players angrily shouted.
"...You fucking idiots. Because of your greed, you could’ve killed us all."
Fang Raon slowly drew his shortsword from his inventory, and the old man said, "Stop!" but Raon didn’t listen and cut the two players with a cold look.
The two players lost their heads—it was an instant kill—and they quickly vanished into nothing but pixels.
They left behind their items and money that they hid from Kerr.
"You bastard!"
A couple of players pulled out their weapons, and at that moment, Machary sliced through them with the katana.
"Urgh!"
They coughed blood and fell to the ground in defeat.
"Raon... We need to get the hell out of here."
Machary said.
He noticed that the remaining players were looking at them with such hostility that they weren’t welcome in this tavern anymore.
"...Let’s go."
Fang Raon took the dropped items and also the money and then left the tavern with Machary.
Through the window, some players watched them go, and it seemed like they were trying to remember their faces.
For revenge.
"Why the hell did you do that?"
Machary asked.
"...Follow me."
Fang Raon kicked off into a jog, and Machary ran after him—a short while later, they saw someone walking away in the distance.
A big man.
’Kerr... Why is he going after him?’
Machary’s eyes widened.
"Wait up!"
Fang Raon shouted.
"...Hmm?"
Hearing the shout, Kerr stopped walking and, with a smile on his face, turned around to look at Fang Raon.
"What can I do for you, Fang Raon?"
"You forgot something."
Fang Raon took out the money pouches and handed them over to Kerr.
"...Did I now?"
Kerr smiled, and then he stored them into his inventory and bowed gentlemanly with his hand on his chest.
"Well, thank you. I hope you understood what I meant earlier. This is why I don’t mind killing players."
Kerr said with a chuckle.
"...I do. There was a chance that you had found out that they were trying to lie to you, and in anger, you could’ve killed everyone.
"They didn’t care.
"As long as there was a chance that they wouldn’t lose all their money. It’s idiotic. I don’t understand how they thought it would be wise to do that."
Fang Raon said.
"It isn’t wise, but the whole concept of greed is beyond foolish. Greed can corrupt even the wisest of minds."
Kerr said.
"...I’ll keep that in mind."
Fang Raon said.
"Good."
Kerr smiled, then he brought out Tower Pearl from his inventory and admired its clean, shimmering surface.
"Your brother is the greediest person I know. I once tried killing your brother, but I lost, haha. We eventually joined the same guild, which is a very interesting coincidence.
"I hope you become different."
He said.
Then, he squeezed his hand against the pearl, and it cracked—the mist twirled around him and took him away.
’Raizen is the greediest person he knows, huh? It sounds like he hasn’t changed one bit. He has always been the one that wanted everything.
’He seems to never be satisfied with what he got.’
Fang Raon thought.
To him, it seemed like Dead Redemption was just a bunch of disconnected individuals that were driven by their own goals.
They didn’t seem like a guild.
In the end, Dead Redemption was just a collection of the ten strongest individuals of the tower, and that meant ten of the biggest egos as well.
"We should get going too."
Machary said, and took out two Tower Pearls for both of them, and handed one of them over to Fang Raon.
"What’ll happen once we return to the 16th floor? Will we be back on the sea?"
Fang Raon asked.
"No. We’ll reappear here where we used Tower Pearl. So, don’t worry."
Machary said.
Fang Raon nodded and squeezed hard on the pearl, causing it to crack, and then both of them disappeared into the mist.
