Bleach: Teaching Makes Me Stronger-Chapter 386: Auswählen
Karakura Town, the World of the Living — Kurosaki Clinic.
Kurosaki Clinic had recently welcomed four new intern doctors.
Meninas, Liltotto, Bambietta, and Candice had all taken up residence in the World of the Living, and with that came the need to learn basic survival skills.
So Nanatsuki began teaching them medical knowledge and arranged for them to apprentice under Kurosaki Mei at the clinic.
Kurosaki Isshin welcomed the idea without hesitation. After a period of steady operation, Kurosaki Clinic had built a strong reputation across Karakura Town. The steady flow of patients was far too much for one doctor to handle alone — extra hands meant more lives cared for.
Besides, with Mei in the final stages of pregnancy, she could no longer manage the clinic full-time. Someone had to step in.
Inside the consultation room, Liltotto and Bambietta kept glancing toward the operating room behind them.
"Kurosaki’s been in there for a while now..."
Liltotto’s voice held a note of worry.
"Relax. She said it herself — Sensei’s medical skills are even better than hers. Everything’s going to be fine."
Bambietta, on the other hand, wasn’t concerned at all. Her trust in her teacher bordered on blind faith. In her mind, there was nothing he couldn’t do.
"It’s not that I doubt her... it’s just... the due date came a week early. That’s a little scary."
Liltotto sighed.
As Quincy, they could sense the state of the unborn child with precision, giving them an accurate idea of the expected delivery window.
But just moments ago, Kurosaki had gone into sudden labor — her water had broken.
Sensei, Giselle, and Meninas had rushed her into the operating room, while the two younger girls had been left to wait outside.
After what felt like an eternity, the operating room door finally opened.
"The procedure’s done — come on in~"
Meninas peeked out and waved the two girls over.
Liltotto and Bambietta hurried inside.
And there, in Sensei’s arms, was the newborn.
"So this is what a newborn looks like..."
Liltotto stared at the infant, fascinated.
"Wow, that’s ugly."
Bambietta was as blunt as ever.
The baby’s wrinkled skin and squashed features were... less than adorable.
"You know, it’s fine not to say anything at all."
Liltotto rolled her eyes, helpless in the face of Bambietta’s nonexistent filter — especially with Mei still lying on the surgical bed.
"She’s just not fully grown into her features yet. Give it a week or two — she’ll be cute."
Kurosaki didn’t take offense.
"Still doesn’t have a name."
Nanatsuki gently passed the baby to her.
"Hmm... how about Masaki? Kurosaki Masaki."
Mei thought aloud.
"Masaki, huh? That’s a good name..."
Nanatsuki smiled — then his expression shifted.
In truth, he was multitasking.
His true body was still locked in combat against the Quincy in the Wandenreich. If Mei hadn’t gone into labor so suddenly, if her water hadn’t broken — he wouldn’t have diverted his attention at all.
But now, something had changed on the battlefield.
From deep within Silbern, sacred, resonant bells began to chime.
Dong... dong... dong... — ethereal tones echoed throughout the entire Wandenreich.
Columns of Reishi light erupted from Silbern, some enveloping Quincy on the battlefield.
Some even broke through the Wandenreich’s veil, pierced through the Garganta, and descended into the World of the Living.
Elsewhere, within the Wandenreich prison, Bazz-B had just broken the iron doors of his cell. Jailed for attacking his superior, he no longer intended to stay quietly locked away.
He could sense the war raging outside.
"What the hell..."
Bazz-B looked up as a pillar of blue Reishi light descended upon him.
Under its baptism, he felt the Reishi within his body being stripped away — forcibly pulled from his soul.
"This is your answer?! Yhwach!!!"
His thoughts flashed back to his hometown, destroyed by the same overwhelming force — a power they could never resist.
"There’s no way I’m dying here!!!"
Gritting his teeth, Bazz-B fought against the holy purge.
Meanwhile, at the Gate of the Sun battlefield—
Yamamoto was battling the twins, Loyd and Royd, both of whom had taken on his form.
One Yamamoto unleashed a towering column of flame, only for it to be split in two by the other two Yamamotos attacking in unison.
"You can resist my flames..."
Yamamoto narrowed his eyes. These Quincies hadn’t just copied his appearance — they could mimic his abilities, too.
Standard attacks wouldn’t work.
"Do I need to use Bankai...?"
He scanned the battlefield. Shinigami were everywhere. If he released his Bankai here, the resulting destruction would vaporize them all.
In the end, he had to abandon the thought.
Fortunately, the Shinigami still held the advantage — Quincy spiritual pressures were fading, one after another.
Then, he heard the bells.
Dong... dong... dong...
From within Silbern, countless beams of Reishi light shot outward, bathing the Quincy in divine brilliance.
"It is... my honor... to return... to Your Majesty’s side..."
Loyd and Royd accepted the holy light in silence — and crumbled into ash.
"Yhwach..."
Yamamoto turned toward Silbern. He could feel it — the spiritual pressure was unmistakably Yhwach’s.
Across the battlefield, the surviving Quincy were being bathed in the same sacred light.
From each pillar came a fusion of sacred bell chimes and despairing wails — a funeral hymn, sung by the dying Quincy.
The Shinigami ceased fighting. One by one, they watched their enemies — warriors they had clashed with moments ago — be slain by the very king they served.
Even in the World of the Living, the radiance of Silbern reached them.
Dong... dong... dong...
At Kurosaki Clinic, the bell’s ethereal toll echoed across the skies above Karakura Town.
"What is that sound?"
The younger Quincy girls didn’t understand — but a primal fear rose within them, as if they had just come face to face with their natural predator.
"This is the Auswählen — the Holy Selection initiated by Yhwach, King of the Quincy. He’s reclaiming the powers of the Quincy."
Nanatsuki’s Quincy powers, once purged of all ties to Yhwach thanks to the Spirit King’s intervention, left him unaffected by the selection.
But inside this house, including the newborn Masaki, there were six Quincy vulnerable to it.
"Auswählen?"
Liltotto and the others still didn’t fully grasp it. Knowledge of Auswählen wasn’t common in the Wandenreich — only a few Sternritter had been told.
They had learned that when the King awakened, he would reclaim the powers of those with impure blood through the Holy Selection.
"You all stay here."
With a burst of Reiatsu, Nanatsuki blasted through the ceiling and ascended to the rooftop of the clinic.
Overhead, the sky had split open into a gaping void.
From within, streaks of blue Reishi light rained down like a meteor shower.
