They resembled giant mosquitoes and were made almost completely out of black and red energies twisting together, resembling darkness and blood.

Their heads were not like mosquitoes though, shaped like giant syringes, and their wings had giant red eyes on them.

From this distance, it was hard to calculate their size, but they were definitely larger than an average adult man, perhaps twice as big, if not car sized.

The swarm was… over a hundred of them, maybe two hundred of these creatures perhaps, and they were buzzing angrily at us at that!

"They're most likely Nightmareborns made to protect the Nightmare Cloud." Morpheus explained. "There's… I can calculate… approximately two hundred and seventy-three! I believe… more in the way, probably a huge swarm of hundreds more!"

"Dammit, and they happen to be such ugly things?!" Rita complained, holding her gun angrily, as several spheres of malice floated around her. "Well, whatever, how do we fight them? I imagine we can't just jump into the fray, right?" freeweɓnøvel.com

"I would recommend engaging over the ship-shaped cloud barrier itself, there's an invisible ceiling that will protect us all," Morpheus explained. "At the same time, the barrier is modified so we can send attacks from the inside, but none from the outside can enter."

"Oh okay, that's convenient!" Said Elena. "Wait, do we even need to fight then?"

"The barrier only has a limited amount of durability… if it was just a few handfuls of Nightmareborns or a dozen at most, I wouldn't worry, but there's hundreds, before we can get through them, they'll destroy the barrier in less than ten minutes," I explained. We walked upstairs, there were now stairs, as we heard the buzzing get closer.

Once we got on top of the ship-shaped flying cloud, whose shape had truly become like a floating or flying ship made of translucent golden glass, we saw the insects get closer.

Their sharp stinger started hitting the barrier, dealing from 1 to 5 damage per hit, not so much, but when hundreds swarmed, hundreds of points were being lost rapidly.

"Alright, they're here! Start attacking, hurry!"

I didn't even hesitate to command everyone into action. Although some of our physical attackers struggled a little to reach the monsters, it wasn't impossible for them to unleash long-ranged attacks.

As I roared, I quickly harnessed Mana and Spirit Energy into Irene, swinging her against a large group of mosquito-like Nightmareborns, which were trying to destroy the barrier with their sharp stingers.

She transformed into her giant, fiery axe form, which wasn't just appearances, as it made her much stronger.

In this form the weapon's Weight and Sharpness increase by 500%. Form can be switched in and out into a simpler shovel and this appearance.

In this stronger form, I unleashed one of her Abilities right away, releasing an explosive strike of spirit energy.

Each blow generated a small explosion, constantly spreading across the Nightmareborns and killing them on the spot, their bodies exploding and splattering everywhere, while more of them nearby died due to the shockwaves.

Damage is based on the Weapon's Durability and its own Attack Potency and Mana Conductivty, alongside your own Spirit and Mana Energy and Magic Circle Rank and Physique Rank.

The damage was based not just on the Weapon itself, Irene, but also on my own Spirit and Mana Energy, and my Magic Circle Rank and Physique Rank.

Yes, the unlike before where the damage was mostly fixed to the amount of Mana and Spirit Energy given, it can now increase constantly based on my own progress and growth.

Therefore, the explosions themselves were even deadlier as a result.

And that wasn't all of that…

As more and more mosquitoes gathered where the rest died and tried to take their place, I stopped them on their tracks.

Hundreds of Lesser Elemental Spirits summoned by my Terrain gathered around Irene, fusing into her axe form and giving her a new appearance, glowing with gold color, shining with heavenly brilliance.

Yes, I merged her with Holy Spirits, and even a Lesser Heavenly Spirit I had summoned just in case!

Countless slashes tore through the Nightmareborns, as giant waves of heavenly light and dream essence completely deleted them from existence by the dozens.

This was the power of her new ability, the power to evolve and take upon forms based on the elements I infused into her.

[Divine Spiritual Elemental Fusion (A)]: Summon Elemental Essence through Mana and Spirit Energy and fuse it into the weapon, temporarily granting the weapon a new form according to its own Element. Each Element has a unique form, and unique abilities that can be unlocked. Their power varies, depending mostly on the amount of Elemental Runes within the Weapon, your Magic Circle, and your Physique.
