Breed Me, Daddy Alpha-Chapter 312
"Tell me how! He buried me alive! He left me bleeding in the ground with a knife in my chest. How do I rise from the dirt? How do I claw out when the earth is pressing me down?"
My wolf growled inside me, restless, pacing.
You are not dead, Damon. You are not gone. You are alive and your lungs still pull air. Use it. Use every ounce of rage he gave you. Use the power you swallowed. Dig, claw, scream, bite. The earth is nothing compared to you now.
I shook my head, my chest heaving, tears burning in my wolf’s eyes. "Father, I am sorry. I am so sorry. I could not save you from him. I was blind. I believed the lies, I believed the stories they told me about rogues and thieves, and I left you to die. You bled alone while Darren slit your throat and drank your blood. Forgive me. Please, forgive me."
A shape moved in the distance. The light tore open again and there he was..my father, still with his throat carved open, blood pouring down his chest, but his eyes glowing brighter now, locking onto mine with the weight of every generation before us.
"You are my son," he said. "You carry my blood, my strength, my crown. You are not meant to rot in the dirt while your brother wears your name. Rise, Damon. Rise and take back what is yours. Save her. Save Lyra. Save them all."
I dropped to my knees, my paws trembling, my wolf snarling and howling inside me. "But how? How do I claw through soil when my body is broken? How do I breathe when the dirt is choking me? How do I fight when I am half gone already?"
Stop asking how! my wolf bellowed, his voice shaking my ribs from the inside. Start doing. The earth is not your coffin. It is your proving ground. Break it. Shatter it. Tear your way through until the world knows you will not die today. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
I looked back at my father, at the light fading around him, at the wound in his throat that still poured. My chest ached with guilt so sharp it nearly split me in two. "I am sorry I could not save you. I am sorry I was not there. I am sorry I let him become this."
His voice softened, deep but steady. "Then save her. Save Lyra. That is how you will save me."
"Save your pups, Damon. Do you hear me? Save your pups. All four of them. They need you. Lyra needs you. You cannot let him touch her. You cannot let him break her. Darren is going to hurt her soon. I can feel it. He will force himself on her, he will rape her, and then he will go back to your mother and pretend he is you. He will take your bed, your throne, your family, your mate, your crown. He will wear your skin like it is his. So run, Damon. Dig yourself out of here. Run!"
"Damon, your pups will cry for you. They will carry your blood, your name, your strength. But only if you live. Lyra will wait for you, she will fight for you, but she cannot fight Darren alone. He will break her if you let him. Do not let him. Dig, Damon. Dig your way out! Rise! Do not die in the dirt when everything you love is still screaming for you to come back."
Tears burned my eyes even as dirt smeared them shut. I bit into the soil, spat it out, clawed harder, screamed louder. "I hear you, Father! I hear you! I will not let him take them! I will not let him touch her! I will not let my children grow up with his scent on their mother’s skin. I will rise. I swear it. I will rise."
My wolf threw back his head inside me, his howl bursting against the suffocating black, his fury feeding my muscles. Dig, Damon. Now. Dig until your paws tear open the earth. Dig until your blood runs into the soil and the soil yields to you. Dig because if you stay here another breath, you lose her.
I pressed my claws into the dirt. I pulled. I shoved. My body screamed, my chest split with fire, my lungs burst with soil, but I moved. Inch by inch, claw by claw, I carved my way up through the grave Darren thought would hold me.
Above me, somewhere in the distance, I swore I could hear him laugh.
And I swore I could also hear Lyra scream.
"Get ready for me, Darren. Get ready for Damon Thornvale, because I promise you this—this will be your last night breathing. I will make sure of it."
This is the end for him. He dug a grave for you, Damon. Now dig one for him.
