Chapter 22 - 22: Taming the Untouchable
Chapter 22: Taming the Untouchable
Zaiyila finished bathing and came out of the room, only to find Everett missing.
"Huh! He left already," she thought, then quickly put on her underwear. She found one of Everett's shirts, which was so big on her that it made her look like a child, and walked outside.
Descending the stairs, she saw Everett standing with his arms folded. She chuckled, crept closer, and suddenly bounced onto his back.
Everett was in the middle of a conference call with his men. A large screen, like a television, was in front of him showing their faces. Had Zaiyila paid attention to it, she would have noticed them, but from the very beginning, her focus was entirely on Everett—she didn't care about anything else.
Earlier, the men had noticed Zaiyila sneaking suspiciously behind Everett and were about to warn him, but then she bounced on his back and even kissed his cheek, smiling beautifully.
They were dumbfounded—shocked to the point that they didn't know what to say. Silence fell over everyone.
Zaiyila looked at Everett, who had his eyes closed, and moved in front of him.
"Husband, are you tired? Do you want to sleep?" she asked, worried.
The men's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
"What did she just call him?!"
"Husband!"
They exclaimed inwardly and glanced at one another.
"The devil finally has someone who tamed him!"
They all shared the same thought and, for some unclear reason, they felt reassured that their lives were no longer at risk.
Everett slowly opened his eyes and looked at Zaiyila's worried face.
"Darling, eat something first," he responded gently.
The men were even more shocked.
"Is it my eyes, or has the devil actually... become warm?"
They didn't dare make a sound, paying even closer attention to the couple.
Zaiyila tiptoed and touched his forehead.
"Are you running a fever? Is it because of earlier?" she asked worriedly, biting her lower lip.
Everett smiled. "Why is my queen a worry-cat now?" he teased, raising his brows.
Zaiyila puffed her cheeks and crossed her arms. "That reminds me—you haven't hugged or kissed me since I arrived," she stated with a knowing look.
Everyone covered their mouths, their eyes widening.
"The devil's princess is actually..."
They gave her a silent thumbs-up. "It really seems like our lives are no longer in danger."
Everett suddenly lifted Zaiyila into his arms, raising her slightly above his height.
"My Queen wants me to kiss her here?" he asked softly.
"What's wrong?" she looked at him, suspicious.
"Are you sure, my Queen?" he inquired again.
Zaiyila stared at him for a moment before twitching her lips. "I want to eat," she finally replied.
"Bring the food," Everett ordered.
Zaiyila frowned, clearly aware that they were the only ones living in the house.
"Who..." Before she could finish, a stunning woman with long, neatly tied red hair walked in, carrying a tray filled with dishes.
She was dressed in a simple maid's uniform. Her nails were painted black, her eyes were pitch black as well, and she had an enticing figure—large breasts, a slim waist, and wide hips.
She moved forward and arranged the dishes in the living room skillfully.
From the beginning, Zaiyila's eyes never left the maid—not even after she finished setting the table and left.
"My Queen, you are a woman, I'm well aware," Everett chuckled, noticing Zaiyila's gaze.
Zaiyila turned her attention back to Everett, frowning. "She wasn't here this morning."
Everett nodded. "I just hired her—for my Queen," he explained.

Zaiyila's mouth twitched. "Even if you want to hire a maid for me, why pick one more perfect than me? I'll get bullied easily!" she screamed inwardly, letting out a sigh.
Everett chuckled, understanding her worries. "My Queen shouldn't stress over small matters like this. I'm only yours," he reassured.
"Ehn," Zaiyila responded as Everett sat down on the chair with her on his lap, then began feeding her.
"The plan should proceed as agreed. As for the commerce contract, I'm not interested in it," Everett suddenly spoke without looking away from Zaiyila.
Zaiyila frowned, confused. "What are you saying?" she inquired, not understanding him at all.
Just after her question, a completely unfamiliar voice echoed.
"Yes, Mr. Everett."
Zaiyila froze and looked toward the source of the voice. Only then did she notice the screen.
"Ah!" she screamed, but strangely, just as she did, the screen shattered into thousands of pieces. Even Everett felt a slight headache, and the entire house shook until her scream stopped. She clung tightly to him.
Everett furrowed his brows and anxiously checked her over. Confirming that she was fine, he sighed in relief.
"What's the matter, darling?" he questioned softly.
Zaiyila looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Ehn?" Everett was surprised.
"That... that thing... there were people! Someone just spoke! I... I know something like that exists but... but it's my first time seeing it!" she stammered, her words a little rushed and unclear, but Everett understood her perfectly.
Everett's expression softened.
"I forgot those humans never let her explore things... there are so many things she doesn't know yet," he thought.
"Ah! Where is it? Where did it go?" Zaiyila's anxious voice snapped him back to reality.
"Erm, my Queen, please be calm. You'll see a lot more in the future," he assured her.
"R-really?" Zaiyila's eyes sparkled with joy.
Everett brought out his latest, most expensive phone and handed it to her.
"Here. It's yours," he offered.
Zaiyila's eyes widened. "Isn't... isn't this a phone? You're giving it to me?" she asked, stammering with excitement.
"It's yours," Everett confirmed with a shrug.
"Awwww," Zaiyila kissed him deeply in excitement. "Thank you! Thank you!" she repeated, showering him with quick kisses.
Everett couldn't stop smiling. Just seeing Zaiyila happy brought him endless warmth.
"If my Queen ever wants anything, don't hesitate to ask. And that reminds me..." He pulled out a sleek black card from his pocket. "Feel free to buy whatever you like."
Zaiyila's eyes widened. "No... I..."
"Everything I have is yours. If you don't want them, I can only give them to someone else," Everett interrupted smoothly.
"You can't give them to anyone else—I want them!" Zaiyila immediately responded, clearly anxious.
