Bride of the Serpent King-Chapter 37:Spoiled Queen, Possessive King
Chapter 37: Chapter 37:Spoiled Queen, Possessive King
37:Spoiled Queen, Possessive King
It was so bright in the morning, sunlight sneaking in through the window, casting its glow on the beautiful couple who were still sleeping lazily.
"Tsk," Zaiyila hissed in annoyance, shielding her face from the light without opening her eyes.
"Sleep more, don’t bother about the sun," Everett’s voice echoed as he moved closer to Zaiyila, resting his head on her chest. With a simple wave of his hand, the curtain dropped, blocking out the sunlight.
Zaiyila didn’t move; her eyes remained closed. In no time, she drifted back to sleep—and so did the couple once again.
. . . . .
By the time Zaiyila opened her eyes again, it was already noon. She looked at the bed and found it empty. She wanted to quickly get up and look for him but realized she couldn’t move—her body was aching painfully.
"It’s not like I went hunting all night, so why is my body aching this badly?" she murmured, hissing softly from the pain.
Everett entered the room with a tray of freshly made food and saw Zaiyila trying to sit up.
"Don’t move, let me help," Everett urged as he quickly set the food aside and rushed to her side, supporting her.
"Husband! My whole body aches terribly. I don’t know what kind of devil I offended to wake up this sore," she complained in Everett’s arms.
Everett’s mouth twitched. He didn’t know how to respond. "You forgot what happened yesterday?" he inquired.
"How could I forget such a beautiful moment?" Zaiyila chuckled and raised her head to look at him. "Since when have you been planning it?" she teased.
Everett’s mouth twitched again. "Oh please, I’m not talking about the surprise," he thought, and was about to speak, but then he noticed the glow in Zaiyila’s beautiful eyes. Even her hair seemed to be moving on its own. "This..." his eyes widened in surprise.
Zaiyila leaned forward and kissed him, completely ignoring the pain coursing through her body. "What? Do I look even more beautiful now?" she giggled.
Everett blinked twice. Indeed, Zaiyila looked even more stunning than before. Her glowing face resembled that of a delicate doll, making her appear younger and even more tempting. The crown still rested perfectly on her head, unmoved, adding an extra layer of grace to her beauty.
"My Queen becomes more beautiful with each passing day. I’m getting intoxicated by you every time," he murmured as he wrapped an arm around her waist.
Zaiyila blushed deeply. "Thank you for yesterday. I’m very happy," she expressed.
"It was for my beautiful Queen. No need for thanks. Also... last night—do you really not remember anything?" he questioned, trying to confirm his suspicion.
Zaiyila looked at him with confusion. "Did I do something bad?" she thought aloud. "I... I drank too much yesterday, so I’m not very clear about what I did. I... I didn’t offend you, right?" she asked nervously.
"Nope," Everett chuckled. "Even though my Queen was quite wild last night, I liked it," he whispered, nibbling on her ear gently, sending shivers through her aching body.
Zaiyila’s eyes widened. Now she was truly curious to know what had happened. "Husband, what exactly did I do?" she pressed.
Everett gently caressed her head. "Just remember—you’re only allowed to drink to your heart’s content when I’m around. You’re not permitted to drink in my absence," he stated firmly.
Zaiyila nodded like an obedient child and smiled warmly. "now I’m very sure I did something bad but why can’t I recall a thing, this is so annoying!" she scream inwardly.
"Eat now," Everett instructed, beginning to feed her. "How’s your aching body?"
Zaiyila shook her head. "Still not great. Husband will have to carry me around," she responded playfully.
Everett chuckled. " that’s not at all a problem, this king is very happy to do to do that, right...I promised to take you to my company. We missed the agreed Friday, but I can make it up to you today. Is my Queen still interested?" he asked gently.
Zaiyila immediately swallowed the food in her mouth. "Of course I’m interested. It’s my fault we couldn’t go on Friday," she murmured, lowering her head.
Everett lifted her chin with one finger. "Not your fault—it’s that human friend of yours. But what can I do, since you like her so much?" he shrugged.
Zaiyila quickly shook her head. "Don’t overthink it. She’s just my first female friend, that’s all. But even so, I love you more than anything else," she reassured him.
Everett’s eyes widened. "Your first female friend? Seems like I missed a bit of information about you. Who’s your first male friend?" he asked curiously.
Zaiyila smiled. "I don’t have male friends. No one ever really wanted to be around me. The one who called himself my fiancé abandoned me. Though I didn’t have deep feelings for him, it still hurt that he betrayed me," she said, her gaze turning somber as memories of the past began replaying in her mind.
Everett smiled strangely. "That’s true. I almost forgot about that bastard. Thankfully, my Queen reminded me—it’s time he gets his own punishment," he thought to himself.
"He was never your fiancé in the first place," Everett muttered, his brows furrowed slightly.
Zaiyila looked at his sour expression and giggled. "Are you jealous?" she teased.
Everett smirked and fed her another spoonful. "He’s a dead man. Is there a need to be jealous of a corpse? I’m not impressed," he remarked casually.
Zaiyila puffed out her cheeks, looking adorably cute. She didn’t think too much about what he said—after all, he was the mighty Serpent King. He wouldn’t always throw away his pride.
What she didn’t know was that Gorrel would soon be a dead man—just as Everett had hinted.
"I’m full already. Let’s go to your company now," Zaiyila chimed.
"Here," Everett responded, and a bottle appeared in his hand. It was transparent, and the green liquid inside shimmered faintly, radiating a soft aura.
Zaiyila looked at the bottle, then back at Everett. "Feed me," she requested, sounding just like a spoiled child.
Everett sighed. "You don’t even know what this is. Shouldn’t your question be... what is this?" he arched a brow.
Zaiyila chuckled. "Is there a need to ask?" she blinked innocently.
Everett shook his head lightly and gave her the liquid. "There. The pain will disappear," he assured her.
Zaiyila licked her lower lip before nodding. She could feel warm energy spreading through her body, and indeed, the ache vanished.
"I still can’t move," Zaiyila blinked repeatedly at Everett.
