Chapter 40: Chapter 40:The Awakening of Zaiyila
Chapter 40:The Awakening of Zaiyila
The lady could sense death; she was already shivering, and her heart was pounding harder. "Please let me go, I’m begging you," she cried.
Zaiyila chuckled. "Ah, fine wine struggling, this queen is impressed." She stood up from the table and moved closer to the lady. "YOU... ARE... LUCKY," she whispered, raising her deadly sharp nails, ready to insert them into the lady’s neck. But a strong hand suddenly grabbed her own.
Her calm demeanor evaporated immediately, and she spun around, prepared to lash out at the person who dared to stop her. However, she froze when a handsome man came into view.
She took her time to appraise him, then smirked. "Not bad, you’ve got some guts to stop this Queen. Just with your good looks, you think I won’t dare to feed on you?" Her brows were raised in challenge.
The lady, terrified beyond belief, suddenly opened her eyes in realization and saw who it was. Instantly, hope lit up within her. "Boss... boss, please save me!" She crawled toward him.
Indeed, the handsome man was none other than Everett himself. Seeing the lady crawling toward him, he smirked. In an instant, she was lifted into the air by an unknown force.
"Normally, I should be grateful for what you just did, but... you know too much. There’s a need to silence you. Because of your little act just now, feeding you to the serpents will be my way of thanking you. You can die with ease,no need to thank me" he remarked. In the blink of an eye, the lady vanished before she had the time to understand what Everett was saying.
Zaiyila looked at Everett and frowned, then brushed his hand away. "How rude! On your knees!" Her eyes grew murderous, and the strongest intent emanated from her, forcing Everett to drop to one knee immediately.
Zaiyila walked around Everett before frowning. "Say, you acted on your own without this Queen’s permission. Are you actually seeking death?" Her voice was cold.
Everett chuckled. "If my Queen can bear to kill me, then I don’t mind dying at your hand," he raised his head to meet her gaze. "The Queen can do as she pleases," he spoke warmly.
Zaiyila chuckled and moved closer to Everett. "Handsome guy, oh handsome guy, you’re really brave, huh." Scales began forming on her body, and dark energy filled her being. Her once-beautiful long black hair, which had already been moving on its own, started to take a strange form. Her eyes became even whiter. "Brave and handsome, I love it, but all of that is useless when you cross my path. You just killed my fine wine—you might as well replace her." She bared her fangs at him, and in the next moment, she was already in front of him, ready to snap his head off. But at that moment, Everett suddenly smiled and grabbed her hand.
"Sorry, my Queen, but I hate the fact that you currently don’t recognize me. Dying like that would be my greatest regret, so I don’t agree with dying yet," he stated, and before Zaiyila could react, he dragged her to himself and sealed her lips in an instant.
Zaiyila’s eyes widened, but before she could act, her head began to grow dizzy and blurry. She lost the energy to struggle, and all the scales on her body disappeared. Her hair returned to its peaceful state, her eyes returned to their normal blackness, and she reverted back to the gentle Zaiyila.
Everything else changed back except for her nails, which still conveyed her authority.
Everett broke the kiss and looked at Zaiyila, whose eyes were now closing. "Eve," she murmured weakly before losing consciousness.
Everett carried her horizontally and returned to his seat, resting her in his embrace peacefully. He caressed her hair with a warm smile on his face and gently held her hand.
"You’re getting your powers," Everett murmured, looking at the little snake designs that had adhered to her beautiful long nails. Even though they looked frightening, it was undeniable that they added another layer of beauty to her features. Looking at her fingers alone, one couldn’t help but fall in love.
"What’s with this strange transformation of yours? And this is clearly not half of it. What form are you taking, my dear Queen?" he murmured, placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
"Boss..."
"Shhh."
Everett immediately signaled the man who had entered to keep his voice low, so as not to wake his Queen.
The man saw Zaiyila sleeping peacefully in Everett’s embrace and immediately dropped to one of his his knees. "Greetings to the Queen," he said in a low voice that wouldn’t disturb Zaiyila’s rest.
Everett waved his hand. "Just get up. What’s the matter?" he asked.
The man stood up. "The sage who tampered with the Queen’s ice coffin has now been successfully located, but... he’s currently in the Queen’s human mother’s house," he explained.
"Human mother," Everett chuckled, gently playing with Zaiyila’s hair. "They don’t deserve the title. Besides, she didn’t give birth to the Queen anyway," he chuckled again. "As for the sage, he really had the nerve to come out of hiding. Let’s go visit him," he added.
"Yes, your majesty," the man replied.
"Orin!" Everett suddenly called.
"Your majesty?" Orin immediately dropped to his knees.
"Notify them in advance . It won’t be too fun if the ball doesn’t roll around in circles for a while," he said with a wicked smile plastered on his face.
"Yes," Orin replied before leaving the office.
"Those who hurt my Queen will never live in peace. It’s time for payback," Everett’s eyes turned cold.
"Mhm." Zaiyila, still sleeping, moaned softly and hugged Everett tighter before continuing her slumber.
Everett found her action cute and couldn’t help but smile.
...
Inside a luxurious dining room, a blonde-haired man was sitting alone with his phone in hand. The table was already set with various dishes, but the man was more interested in whatever he was looking at on his phone than the tempting food arranged before him.
While the man was lost in thought, he didn’t notice a woman approaching him from behind.
She appeared to be in her middle age, with long blonde hair that was both beautiful and charming. She suddenly stretched out her hand and snatched the phone away from the man, taking a look at what had caught his attention so much.
"Oh... oh... oh... my baby Eryx is now interested in one girl. Yo! Is she even real? She’s so beautiful!" the woman exclaimed.
