Bride To His Darkness-Chapter 290: Lower Your Weapon
Chapter 290: Lower Your Weapon
The sudden turn of events didn’t apply to Marius who had sensed the ruckus and was coming down the stairs to see what was disrupting his moment of quiescence. He was trying to calculate how much power he had gained over the past years, and how many more he needed to gain in order to return to the underworld when the noises from downstairs kept interrupting his time to think.
He had specifically come down the stairs so he could kill the buffoon that was creating an uproar in his fortress.
Being the Demon of manipulation, he had succeeded in manipulating the minds of many individuals, leading them to their own perish– as it should be. However, in this realm, he needed three more in order to restore his name in the underworld, and that included; Alistair, Carmela, and then finally, his Sierra. When he lost the battle many centuries ago, his fellow Demons mocked him bitterly for it, and the devil refused to resurrect his soul as he was considered a failure, his punishment for losing to the hands of a vampire when he had an object as powerful as the Orb to aid him in his quest.
As if that wasn’t enough pain, he lost the Orb that contained the trapped soul of his Sierra.
His soul was made to wander around like a confused traveler in a vast desert, tortured, unable to experience peace, and all for what? Because he failed to rule over a particular realm. As his heart turned bitter, he made a promise that if he somehow gets resurrected and brought into the world again, he wasn’t going to make the same mistake twice– he was going to get stronger, and ruin as many lives as he possibly can to accomplish that mission. However, his own life continued in endless torture until the day his soul was summoned by Carmela, the youngest royal witch of the South.
She proposed a deal to him, and in exchange for his help on world domination, she would resurrect him and make him her King. Marius found it stupid, he didn’t believe anyone would be that desperate as to make a Demon their King, but as the deal moved on, he could sense that she was a lonely woman who boiled with vengeance, and she turned out to be the best candidate for his manipulation, as she had no idea on who, where or what to vent her vengeance on.
His union with Carmela was formed, and it wasn’t long after he married her that he got to dig about the whereabouts of his Orb. His possession of the Orb was due to the divine soul inside of it, his Sierra’s soul– but he never imagined things would come to this. His relationship with Sierra wasn’t revealed to anyone, as he had kept her isolated and under his wings, and whenever her wings were beginning to grow with attitude, he’d cut them off. He kept her under his clutches until a specific day she tested his patience, which she shouldn’t have done, and that rendered her soul stuck in his ordinary Mystical Orb.
He was thinking of ways to turn her into the defenseless Forest Fae which she was, but with her spirit now combined with the powers of his Mystic Orb, and her growing love for that lunatic vampire, such an act seemed impossible to achieve... not within a short amount of time that is.
When he successfully reached the bottom staircase, he noticed the appalling looks on the faces of the guests below, and when one of the guards, who appeared petrified, moved closer to whisper what had happened to him, Marius’s lips curled into a cynical smile.
"Is that so? A plant?" There was an unhinged look in his eyes when the news got to him. The guard couldn’t make out if he wanted to laugh or frown, and such confusion coming from His Majesty terrified the guard. He simply nodded and said nothing more, whilst taking a step back in case the Demon might try to attack him.
Vanishing from sight, Marius materialized himself at the fortress’s backyard. There were many guards who had surrounded his precious Jewel, but they could do absolutely nothing as she had their Queen in the grasp of a gigantic plant looming behind her. The sight of the plant had Marius gazing in slight disbelief, and his lips pulled further.
"The plant wasn’t bluffing in the end." Commented Marius as he recognized the plant that had been with her in her previous life. He cared less about the woman who was helplessly wrapped by the tendrils and vines. Although he should, Carmela is his new wife after all.
As he stepped forward, the guards made way for Marius to pass, and when the path cleared for him, Samantha, who was slowly moving towards the vacant boat at the shore, stopped in her tracks at the sight of him. The night above was gradually turning into dawn, and soon enough, the morning sun would hit the sky.
"Lower your weapon." Marius gave the command.
At first, Samantha assumed he was speaking to her as she held a sword in her grip, but to her surprise, the guards surrounding her suddenly lowered their weapons at Marius’s command. The demon, however, seemed to have noticed the surprise in her emerald eyes because he was smiling, and that had Samantha feeling more insecure about his intention.
"She has our Queen, it will be threatening for us to make any attacks." He added, feigning concern for Carmela who was securely wrapped in the tendrils of Viney. She could not speak, as her mouth was covered by the vines.
"You intend to let her go? Your Majesty?" Asked a guard, and Marius remained silent. It lingered for some minutes before he answered.
"Yes, we’ll let her go. But in return, you will free Carmela from the hands of your..." Marius’s head tilted slightly to look at the gigantic plant behind her, barely flinching at the sight.
"Pet plant."
