Chapter 138: Will You Be My Wife?

They finally decided to take a short nap on the ship before sunrise. When Charlotte stepped into the cabin, she couldn’t stop the little gasp that escaped her lips.

"Oh my god, Damon! This room looks more like a hotel suite than a cabin on a ship!" she exclaimed, her voice full of excitement.

Damon only chuckled, watching with amusement as Charlotte wandered around, checking every corner of their cabin like a curious child.

The cabin truly did look like a luxury hotel room. There was a cozy living area with a couch, table, and TV, along with a separate bedroom.

When Charlotte pushed the bedroom door open, her eyes widened in awe. A wide window stretched across the wall, opening to the endless sea. Right now, it was just darkness, but she knew the moment the sun came up, it would turn into a view she’d never forget.

"Don’t go out to the balcony just yet," Damon said gently before she could reach for the door. "The wind will be too strong, and you might get cold."

He took Charlotte’s hand and led her to the bed. "Come on, let’s sleep for a while. We’ll wake up before the sun rises."

Charlotte didn’t argue. She quickly slipped off her shoes and jacket, then climbed onto the bed, nestling into Damon’s arms as if that spot had always belonged to her.

"Do you like the room?" Damon asked in a low voice as he rubbed her back in slow, comforting circles. His eyes softened when he looked at her, and he leaned down to press a tender kiss to her forehead.

"I love it." Charlotte’s smile was as sweet as her voice. She tipped her head up and brushed her lips against his twice. "But more than the room, I love you, Damon."

Damon’s heart warmed at her words, and he couldn’t hold back the smile that spread across his face. "I love you too, sweetheart."

After that, they didn’t say another word. Wrapped in each other’s warmth, they let their eyes drift shut.

When the first light of dawn touched the horizon, Damon gently stroked Charlotte’s cheek. His voice was soft, almost a whisper. "Sweetheart, the sun is about to rise. You’ll miss it if you don’t wake up."

Charlotte stirred, her lashes fluttering before she opened her eyes. Her beautiful blue gaze met his, and just like always, it pulled him in, like the ocean itself had decided to live inside her eyes.

Charlotte blinked slowly, her vision still hazy from sleep, until the glow of orange light began to spill into the room. She turned her head toward the window, and her breath caught. "Damon ... look."

The horizon was painted in shades of gold, pink, and soft lavender. The sun peeked out from the endless stretch of ocean, casting a shimmering path across the waves that looked like liquid fire.

Charlotte immediately got out of bed and hurried to the balcony. The sea breeze rushed to greet her, scattering her long hair like a veil dancing in the wind. From below, the loud blast of the ship’s horn echoed as the cruise finally began its journey.

She gripped the railing, her eyes widening at the breathtaking view before her. The sun was now halfway above the horizon, casting a golden trail across the endless sea. Her lips curved into a smile as she whispered, "It’s so beautiful ...."

Damon followed her out, his gaze lingering not on the sunrise, but on the woman standing before him. He couldn’t stop himself from being captivated as the golden light illuminated Charlotte’s face, making her look like a beautiful goddess when she smiled warmly.

"Yes," he whispered without thinking, "so beautiful."

He swallowed hard, his gaze locked on her as if he couldn’t bear to look away, not even for a second.

The truth was, he hadn’t brought her on this cruise just for a simple vacation. No, there was something much bigger, something he had been holding onto and waiting for all this time. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

He slipped his hand into his pocket, his fingers brushing against the small velvet box he had been carrying for days. His heart pounded as if it wanted to break free, but he drew in a deep breath to calm himself.

He had wanted to make her his wife for so long, to tie their lives together officially. But he knew her past marriage had left scars too deep, wounds that took time to heal. That was why he waited patiently until she no longer trembled at the thought of marriage.

Even now, he still felt uncertain, wondering if Charlotte would accept him or ask him to wait longer.

But as he looked at her bathed in sunlight, Damon knew one thing for certain: he couldn’t hold it back anymore. For God’s sake, he wanted her to be his wife, not someday, not later, but now.

On the other side, Charlotte leaned over the railing, her hair fluttering wildly in the salty wind as she stared at the horizon. "It feels endless," she said softly, almost to herself.

Damon’s hand tightened around the velvet box in his pocket. His chest rose and fell with the weight of everything he wanted to say. Slowly, he stepped closer until he stood just behind her.

"Charlotte," he called, his voice lower than usual, almost trembling.

She turned, her blue eyes catching the sunlight, and gave him a curious smile. "Hmm? What is it?"

Damon’s throat went dry, but he forced himself to move. He pulled the box from his pocket and dropped to one knee.

At that moment, the world seemed to pause, the waves crashing below, the wind whipping around them, even Charlotte herself frozen in shock.

Her hand flew to her lips. "Damon ...."

He opened the box, and inside was a ring crowned with a diamond that caught the sunlight and sparkled like fire. Damon’s eyes softened as he looked up at her.

"Charlotte, sweetheart... I know we don’t need a marriage certificate to prove anything because our bond alone already makes you mine."

"But Charlotte, I’m a greedy man. I can’t help but want you to be mine completely." He held his breath before continuing, "I want you to be my home, my mate, my Luna, and my wife."

His chest rose and fell as he took in a deep breath. Then, with his heart in his throat, he spoke the words he had been carrying for so long. "Charlotte Dawson ... will you marry me?"
