Building a Safe Zone with My Harem In The Post-Apocalyptic World-Chapter 70: Gacha System
Gideon leaned against the balcony railing while looking at the system screens. The sun was slowly rising, turning the once black sky into a deep orange as dawn approached.
He was a little disappointed that he could not have more fun with Summer because of the limited time, but the gacha rewards were enough to lift his mood.
"Hm... let’s see the gacha system first," he murmured while reading through the instructions before nodding in understanding.
It worked exactly like the gacha systems in the games he used to play. Clearly a scam, yet people could never stop pulling anyway.
According to the description, this one had three rarities: Rare (R), Super Rare (SR), and Specially Super Rare (SSR).
There was a guarantee of at least one SR every ten pulls and one SSR every fifty pulls, which meant roughly a two percent chance to get an SSR.
"At least I don’t need ninety pulls just to get an SSR, and it isn’t that hard to get gacha tickets."
Gideon planned to use the Safe-Zone gacha. Based on the system description, it could give him materials, blueprints, buffs, and many other useful things.
The SSR tier even included "Specialists," people with professional skills such as engineering, agriculture, medicine, and many others.
Still, his luck had always been average. Not terrible, but never particularly good either. He usually managed to get the character he wanted, though almost always after hitting a very high pity count.
Because of that, he had developed the habit of hoarding gacha tickets while waiting for the right moment.
From experience, Gideon had noticed something strange about his pulls. Every time he was about to get a character he wanted, his fingers would start tingling and his heartbeat would rise slightly. The same feeling was happening right now.
He was completely certain he would get the SSR.
"Please let it be civil engineering," he muttered, closing his eyes like someone offering a quiet prayer.
He stared at the system clock carefully, waiting for the numbers to change to 6:66. The moment the time appeared, he took a deep breath and pressed the ten-pull button.
The system screen shifted, showing ten cards being drawn from a red box. One by one they flipped over.
Most of them were R rarity cards. They revealed materials used for construction such as cement, steel, wood, bricks, sand, gravel, and similar resources. There was also a blueprint for a Mediterranean-style house.
Then the screen flashed purple. Two SR cards appeared. One revealed a blueprint for a climate-controlled greenhouse, while the other contained the terrain of an underground river.
Only one card remained.
Gideon swallowed as he pressed on the screen. The last card glowed gold.
An SSR.

"YESSS!!!"
He shouted so loudly that Summer, who had been sleeping on his bed, suddenly blinked awake and sat up in surprise.
"Huh?! Ugh, I should get back to my room!" she suddenly exclaimed in panic.
If Delilah found out she had been gone all night and discovered she had stayed in Gideon’s room, it would spell the end of their happiness together. She jumped out of the bed as fast as she could and almost stumbled on the floor.
Luckily, Gideon rushed forward and caught her before she could fall. Both of them let out a breath of relief. His hand remained around her waist, and the closeness made Summer’s heart start beating faster.
"Th-thank you, Gideon," she said with a blush spreading across her face. "But you should have woken me earlier! My mom is a morning person," she groaned.
"I think a thank you is enough. I don’t need the scolding," he said while helping her stand properly. "And you should be more careful. You need to take care of the little me inside you too."
Summer tilted her head, clearly confused by what he meant. A moment later, realization struck her. She covered her mouth in shock, her eyes widening with joy.
Then she gave a small excited jump and threw her arms around him, wrapping herself around his body with her legs hooked behind his back like a monkey clinging to a tree.
The sight was so adorable that Gideon could not help laughing as he spun around, her cheerful giggles filling the room.
"Is it true? I’m going to be a mom?!" she asked, trying to keep her voice down even though her happiness spilled through every word.
"Yes," he replied with a smile. "So take better care of yourself, Summer. Don’t do anything reckless. And about sex—"
Before he could finish, she immediately pulled away and glared at him.
"Of course we’re still doing that! Sex helps with labor!"
"Yes, when you’re eight or nine months pregnant. I don’t think it’s a good idea during early pregnancy."
"That’s not true! Anyway, I’m going to ask Elaine about it. And you also need to pamper me more. And that roleplay thing..." Her eyes shifted away, too embarrassed to look at him directly. "Don’t be too harsh on me."
Gideon laughed softly and rubbed her head.
"Relax. I’m not going to do anything too extreme. I know your limits." He paused before adding, "If you’re going to ask Elaine, make sure you don’t make her suspicious, alright?"
Summer nodded quickly. "I’ll be careful. She’s friends with my mom, and she would absolutely tell her everything I asked!"
Then she looked down and gently rubbed her flat stomach. "Hm... I can’t believe I’m going to have a child. I always thought it was impossible for me..."
A bright smile spread across her face.
Gideon understood why she felt that way after hearing Kilian’s concerns earlier. His hand moved to her stomach, gently rubbing it.
"Don’t worry. I’ll take care of both of you. I’ll make sure this Safe-Zone becomes a place full of children running around the playgrounds. People will have warm food and a safe home, far away from the monsters outside."
It was a promise he intended to fulfill. For his future children, for every member of his harem. And of course for his resident.
Summer’s eyes grew watery as she suddenly asked, "Should I tell my mom about our relationship?"
Gideon’s eyes widened. "I don’t think that’s a good idea, Summer. Isn’t your mother against pregnancy?"
She nodded slowly. "Yes... but that’s because of the environment we’re living in and the horrors everyone witnessed during the early days of the apocalypse."
Her voice softened. "I understand why she thinks that way, even though I’ve always wanted to be a mother and have my own family. I tried not to talk about it until now."
Summer lifted her gaze and looked at him with quiet determination.
"But if it’s with you, I know I’ll be fine. Gideon, I really love you... and I want to marry you."
