Chapter 268: Angry lines

Thrain couldn’t help it; he took several steps back. He didn’t understand what suddenly came over Atrox, and besides, the bloodlust he was suddenly feeling from him wasn’t in any way normal.

Angry red lines crawled around the ground with Atrox in the middle. A wave of the same energy shrouded him, but it was tainted with a dark luster as if the darkness around him had grown thicker.

Thrain’s hand tightened on his sword, and he stopped moving backward. "What are you saying?" he demanded.

Atrox chuckled. "You have even forgotten the dead hanging on your neck." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Thrain paused. "Don’t tell me. Are you still hung up over Father’s death? You didn’t even like the man. Are you playing some kind of game right now?"

Atrox’s eyes flashed, and the temperature in the room grew higher. "You don’t even remember, Thrain? You don’t remember the death you taunt me about? The one you gloat about? You dare to forget?"

Thrain tilted his head as if he was thinking about something, then his shoulders shook as he chuckled. "Wait, are you talking about her? The servant? What’s her name again... erm... I can’t remember."

Atrox froze, and time seemed to freeze with him. His face crumbled and rearranged into ugly anger.

Meanwhile, up above the prison, Pomora and Terrix Choxa were looking down at the battle. Terrix had wanted to make a move when Atrox created the prison, but Pomora had stopped him with a sneer.

She realized then that it was really fortunate she was there, or they would have taken real advantage of Atrox. From what she observed, the fight was set up for Atrox’s death. No way she was going to let that happen unless Thrain killed him himself.

Naturally, even with the Infernal Prison, they were able to read the aura of the people inside it. Atrox and Thrain’s auras had been going well, and the fighting was progressing.

But then, suddenly, as if night came during the day, Atrox switched up. His aura turned hot with anger, and his bloodlust was high enough for them to feel.

It was the first time Pomora had felt that type of anger from him, and the hair on her body raised. "What can make you this angry, Commander?"

Beside her, Terrix grew restless. His initial plan was to watch because, after all, Thrain should defeat Atrox pretty soon. He was only there to make things run smoothly. But then, the rumors were true, and it turned out that Atrox wasn’t as weak as they were told.

He was strong enough that Thrain couldn’t kill him in one go. Still, Terrix didn’t think much of it because he knew how strong Thrain was, but then things went sideways, and a prison was created.

And now Atrox was creating enough bloodlust to make the forest shiver?

Terrix was worried. Before they left their camp, his clan leader told him what it meant to keep Thrain safe. If the man should fall, then their clan was going to fall with him. How could he not be worried?

And things would have gone well if Pomora hadn’t interfered!

Suddenly, the bloodlust that was emitting from the prison bellowed upward like a cloud of red smoke. The prison trembled as if it would collapse.

"...That’s it!..." Terrix thought, and without giving any thought to the other Master Knight beside him, he jumped forward from his platform of light. A sword of light, bigger than two men’s bodies, solidified in his hand, ready to slash the prison.

But suddenly, he whirled and slashed to the left, where a palm made of water swatted the space where he was. Water and light clashed; the sword bit deep into the water hand, but it did nothing more than just pass through it before Terrix was swatted away like a fly.

"Stay out of this!" Pomora warned. The water hand collapsed, and the wave of water rushed toward her, hovering above her head like a suspended waterfall.

Terrix growled. His legs were coated in thick layers of light as if he stepped on mud. He hovered there like an angry bird of prey, and his eyes looked down at the prison cage and then at Pomora.

He sneered. "Why are you even following that spineless boy? Thrain is far stronger than him!"

Pomora smiled. "Then you shouldn’t be worried, right? Since he’s far stronger, then you shouldn’t involve yourself in this matter."

Terrix froze and turned to her, his eyes flashing like the edge of the sun. He didn’t reply with words. A thick beam of sunlight fell from the sky, a pillar of scorching heat and light.

The waterfall above Pomora spread like an umbrella, shielding her, but she had underestimated it. Terrix didn’t use a simple attack. He wanted something that would distract her.

Although the light that fell might look like a single slow beam, in actuality, the light was made of individual fast-moving spears of light bound together by force.

When the light hit the water umbrella, the force holding the light beam broke, and the individual spears of light attacked the water shield.

Pomora grimaced as she was hit by the attack, the light spears punching through her shield. She had to change strategies and collapsed her shield, letting the water turn turbulent and then sucking the light spears into the middle.

By the time she was done with all of this, Terrix had managed to escape from her.

The man was halfway to the prison, but curiously enough, Pomora did not stop him. She just watched from her place. "Don’t you think you’re underestimating this Master Knight too much? I was once a Flagbearer, you know!"

He understood why she didn’t give chase as he got closer to the prison. The whole place was heavy with moisture as if there had been heavy rain.

He slowed down and paused as he saw globs of water floating in the air in small balls. His eyes widened as those small balls of water began to shoot like rain.

Only it wasn’t falling to the ground. It was falling toward him.

A shield of light slammed into place around him.
