Building My SSS-Rank Universal Empire: From Trash to Cosmic Overlord-Chapter 174: Surging waves
Part of the shield collapsed inward. The water shrank and then expanded, trapping the five enchanted towers outside. What Pomora did was simple she wanted no interference from them. This was a battle between Masters!
Just as she finished, she chanted a few words of power that made the air outside change. The water shield spun and then began to gather moisture from the area, adding to the bulk of the water storm.
Inside, thick bands of water began to descend around her, coiling around her limbs. "Water Rush," she said.
Three of the bands exploded outward toward Dienro and the Hydra. As the bands flew through the air, they expanded into a geyser, a surging wave that sought to drown both the monster and its owner.
Just then, another head of the Hydra opened its mouth. Silver light flickered, and then lightning blasted out. The area was momentarily blinded by the flash of light and the clap of thunder.
The water wave was struck and almost vaporized completely, making the rest ineffective—a mere splash of water. But that was why fighting a Water Elemental Knight in an enclosed water shield was dangerous.
The splash of water that clung to the monster seemed to gain a life of its own. It grew into long ropes that began to bind the limbs of the Hydra, but they had little to no effect as the monster still moved forward, bounding toward Pomora, three growling heads striking out at the same time.
Pomora weaved between the heads, a giant water sword in her hand. But the monster’s body was thick, and her strikes did little to cut through its skin.
"Don’t tell me you’re this weak, Pomora," Dienro mocked from his place, sitting on the monster’s back. "And here I thought you were going to tilt the battle in your favor!"
"Oh, shut up, Dienro!" she snapped, her eyes flickering down briefly. One of the heads spewed purple acid into the air. She reacted quickly, dodging out of the way—straight into another head’s path, which bit down immediately.
Sharp fangs sank into soft flesh... that turned to water! It wasn’t Pomora—it was a water substitute. Instead of the water dispersing, it gathered and rushed into the head’s mouth and nose, flooding it.
The Hydra head opened its mouth and shook its head, but the water defied the laws of nature and continued to flood its throat. More and more water gathered around the head, forcing its way in.
Dienro cursed. He had seen Pomora use this technique before, and he knew how it usually ended—with a bloated stomach that would eventually explode.
Without waiting, he pulled out a rusted sword that seemed to throb and glow with light, even though it remained dull. An artifact!
He flung himself forward and slashed, cutting off the Hydra’s head at the neck. Blood sprayed, and the Hydra’s head fell with a thud, revealing a bloody stump that was beginning to squirm as its regeneration started.
Dienro raised his sword and stabbed it into the stump, leaving the sword there as the flesh rapidly formed around it.
There was a reason why Dienro chose a Hydra as his monster. Their regeneration power made them more valuable than people knew it made it possible to create different mutated heads with just the right amount of tinkering.
As he was doing this, water condensed into the figure of Pomora. She wanted to use the distraction, but as she slashed with her sword, she ran into an invisible shield covering Dienro, who smiled at her.
The middle head of the Hydra turned. One of its yellow, slitted eyes was closed. Then it closed the second one. An invisible force made the air shudder before ramming into Pomora, crushing her water substitute.
The middle head was using the power of invisible forces! And because it was protecting Dienro, it hadn’t joined the fight until now, focusing solely on its master!
"Why don’t you come out, Pomora? Let’s have fun like those two," Dienro gestured to the side, where the sound of rock breaking and shattering could be heard. It was where Takada and Sevrix were fighting it out.
"You know I don’t like fighting," Pomora said. She descended from the water shield above, floating gently on a water platform.
Dienro snorted. "You? You don’t like fighting? Probably because you prefer to poison them before the fight even starts! Or do you think I wouldn’t notice the poison carefully hidden in your water? Fortunately, I share some of my beastie’s powers, and it’s not effective against me." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Pomora smiled. "Is that so? You can’t blame me for trying, though. A lady shouldn’t get her hands dirty needlessly."
Above the water dome, the surface of the storm changed into the face of a lady. The water face locked eyes on Dienro and then opened its mouth in a soundless scream.
Immediately, everything around them slowed down as if they were deep underwater. Even sounds seemed to come from a far-off place.
The sounds of Takada and Sevrix faded away they were also experiencing the same thing! Everything under the shield had been thrown into it!
Only Pomora was moving normally. She gestured, and thick pillars of water fell around her, condensing into beads that floated around her like pebbles.
Although everything had been slowed down, Dienro’s mind was still working, and he knew he couldn’t allow her to continue her attack.
Those water pebbles held the strength of a massive volume of water and would tear through his shield with little difficulty. The Hydra heads had been caught in her spell, just as he had.
But he wasn’t worried. He knew just what to do. With a thought, he sent the message to the Hydra. Immediately, two of the heads the left and the right began to swell down to the neck.
One thing about Hydras in battle was that each time a head was killed, it only came back stronger, with the ability to resist whatever had killed it.
The general slowness couldn’t stop the heads from swelling and bursting, as it was something happening from within.
Pa!
Blood and bone exploded, hanging in the air like a bloody painting.
Beneath that, the two heads began to grow rapidly.
