Elesia lay on the soft, expansive bed, wide eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. A crimson glow began to seep from the whites of her azure irises, gradually spreading.
From the surrounding atmosphere, an intangible black aura slowly coalesced into a swirling mass. It drifted through the third-floor wall of the bakery, materializing beside Elesia.
At the same time, a faint layer of black aura slowly surfaced on Elesia's own body, resonating with the intangible mass from the atmosphere.
At that precise moment, the bite mark on Elesia's neck erupted with a brilliant golden radiance.
A voice, cold and impassive as a machine, sounded softly.
"Connect Magic Foundation—Issue Command—Execute Command!"
"Fourth Law—Activate!"
Beside Elesia, a figure slowly emerged.
The ethereal figure gradually solidified, taking the form of a young man's body. He had deep blue, shoulder-length hair, delicate mixed-race features, and utterly vacant azure eyes. His appearance bore a strong resemblance—perhaps sixty percent—to Elesia.
A DNA test would almost certainly identify him as Elesia's biological brother; genetically, after all, he shared an astonishing consistency with Elesia's parents.
Once the body had fully formed, the machine-like voice sounded once more.
"Connect Magic Foundation—Issue Command—Execute Command!"
"Third Law—Activate!"
An inexplicable aura pulsed outwards. The intangible mass shuddered violently, then surged towards the young man's body beside Elesia. At the same time, the intangible black aura swarmed out from Elesia's own form, pouring into the young man's body.
Once all the black aura had surged into the young man's body, the bite mark on Elesia's neck erupted with golden light again. Following this, Elesia's figure slowly dissipated within the radiance.
The next second, the young man opened his eyes—revealing crimson irises, like those of a serpent.
"—Hmm. The seventeenth life, is it?" A cold voice slowly emanated from the young man's throat.
Michael Roa Valdamjong had appeared in this world once more.
Roa lifted his fair palm, continuously clenching and unclenching it. A thrilled smile gradually appeared on his cold face. "This body... this body is too perfect."
"Never expected that reincarnating randomly without careful selection this time would lead to finding such a perfect vessel. Just the initial fusion, and I've actually recovered the power of my first life! This body, this body is truly fantastic!"
By the end of his thought, Roa's face was flushed with intense excitement.
Although Roa had borrowed Altrouge's power to achieve the secret art of infinite reincarnation, that technique was ultimately not True Magic. Through the ceaseless cycle of rebirth, his soul had grown progressively weaker, his power diminishing with each life.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have been utterly slaughtered by a mere eight-year-old girl in his previous life. Thinking of this, Roa's expression twisted savagely.
"'A small town outside Paris... that girl named Caren? And those seven Holy Swords!!!" Roa's expression twisted with extreme savagery. Being trapped and killed by Caren using those Holy Swords was the most painful humiliation of his existence; his hatred for her surged like an endless, churning river.
Even Arcueid obliterating him fifteen times couldn't compare to the sheer depth of his hatred for Caren.
Thinking of Arcueid, Roa's pupils contracted. He slowly stepped off the bed, walked to the window, and gazed into the distance, his eyes now blood-red.
The town wasn't large, and the buildings were at most three stories high, so Roa could see most of the town's scenery from the window.
Roa scanned the view, his eyes darting back and forth. Within moments, his serpent-like pupils locked onto the location of the cafe from that morning.
"—My Princess~" Sensing the call originating from the power he had usurped from Arcueid, an utterly crazed sound emanated from Roa's throat—a sound thick with profound hatred, yet interwoven with an indelible thread of attachment.
"Indeed... you've come to this small town as well. Although I dearly wish to be executed by you again... this body is simply too perfect. I'm rather reluctant to part with it." Excitement warred with reluctance on Roa's face.
"Then again," Roa grinned, a fanatical light entering his eyes, "you've suppressed your urge to feed for 800 years. Can you truly kill me this time, now that I've fully recovered my strength?" He sensed that perhaps, in this life, he could finally strike back at Arcueid.
"Hmm. Decision made. Avoid the Princess for now—kill that little brat first." Roa rubbed his chin, his tone utterly cold. "But before that... it's rather noisy. Relatives of this body, perhaps?"
"Bob! Bob! I heard a man's voice in Elesia's room!"
"What?! That damn brat went into Elesia's room this late at night?! I... I... There's nothing I can do about him! Daughters just won't stay put once they're grown!!!"
"—I'll go get the gun. You wait downstairs first!"
The low murmur of Bob and Aie's conversation drifted from outside the door. Although they had clearly lowered their voices, to Roa's enhanced hearing, it was as loud and distinct as a steam whistle shrieking in the dead of night.
Roa glanced disdainfully at the door. He'd heard of firearms, of course, but frankly, mundane weapons lacking any Mystery could inflict little harm on a Dead Apostle—let alone him, now restored to his full power.
Roa tapped the floor lightly with his toes. With a faint whistle of wind, he abruptly floated before the door. His hands formed into claws, pale white fingernails instantly shooting out to a meter in length. Under the moonlight filtering into the room through the window, the talons gleamed with an ominous white light.
Shnk! Shnk! Shnk!
Roa waved his hands, his expression cold. The talons, like the sharpest steel blades, flashed—dozens of chilling arcs of light—and the door disintegrated, shattering into ten-centimeter square blocks of wood that tumbled to the floor.
Bob, outside the door, stared in terror at the vampire who had suddenly appeared. Despite his fear, his honed combat instincts from serving in the special forces took over, and he subconsciously squeezed the trigger.
Bang~ Bang~ Bang~
Three consecutive shots, each aimed precisely at the heart. However, the bullets were shredded by the talons in mid-air.
The clatter of metal fragments hitting the floor echoed softly. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Roa, his face cold, slashed towards the blue-haired man with his chilling talons.
Bob's pupils contracted—a faint golden radiance abruptly enveloped his body.
Seven Holy Swords emerged.
That intensely familiar radiance made Roa's cold expression shatter instantly. He stared, dumbfounded, at the seven Holy Swords that had once pierced his body, stammering in bewildered disbelief, "What the—?! Another Saint?! And these seven swords again!!!"
Seizing the moment of Roa's panic—before Roa could even process why swords were emerging from him—Bob quickly leaped backward, attempting to create distance.
"Did you think I'm still the same weakling I was in my last sixteen lives?! Damn you, God!!!" Roa roared, slashing with his talons towards Bob, who was still in mid-air.
"Hm? Was someone just talking about how handsome I am?"
