Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 599 - 600: I advise you, stay away from Min Xin
Gu Mingzhu watched in disbelief as Wang Yuan poured a bowl of soup for Gu Anxi, letting her taste it first, while Min Xin was left waiting.
She found it hard to believe that Gu Anxi was now treated so well by Min Xin!
Min Xin and King Jingyao were sworn enemies, so naturally, he should also dislike Gu Anxi. Could it be that a single operation had truly changed his perception?
So that’s it, Gu Mingzhu thought, biting her lip. Just then, she heard Min Xin ask in an indifferent tone, "Why are you here?"
Gu Mingzhu obediently replied, "I didn’t have class this morning."
Min Xin glanced at her and said nothing more.
Meanwhile, Gu Anxi savored her soup, praising it effusively, "This is delicious!"
She looked amicably at Gu Mingzhu. "Are you coming tomorrow? If you do, I’ll skip breakfast; I’m so full right now."
Gu Mingzhu was infuriated, but in front of Min Xin, she had to maintain her image, so she forced a smile. "I’ll come again tomorrow to visit Uncle Min."
Min Xin then looked at Gu Anxi. "If there’s anything you want to eat, just tell her."
Tears welled up in Gu Mingzhu’s eyes. What does he mean, telling Gu Anxi to just tell *me* what she wants to eat? I’m not Gu Anxi’s maid! I’m Min... Xin’s biological daughter, aren’t I?
However, no matter how dissatisfied she felt, she had to swallow her resentment. She carefully poured another bowl of chicken soup for Min Xin and then moved to feed it to him.
Min Xin didn’t refuse, prompting a sigh from Wang Yuan. Why bother with all this?
Gu Anxi put down her bowl, looking very pleased and satisfied. "Let’s have this again tomorrow, but use a little less wild ginseng."
Min Xin nodded. "Alright."
He glanced at Gu Mingzhu, who felt another wave of grievance and whispered, "I understand..."
Gu Anxi smiled. "Good girl!"
She then looked at Min Xin. "I’ll come see you again this afternoon."
Min Xin gave a faint smile. "Wang Yuan, please escort Doctor Gu out."
The secretary immediately and diligently escorted Gu Anxi out, attending to every detail.
Watching this made Gu Mingzhu feel another pang of distress. When Wang Yuan returned, she asked, feigning casualness, "Are Gu Anxi and Uncle Min very close now?"
The Secretary-General replied with a smile, "It’s important to cultivate a good doctor-patient relationship, isn’t it? Especially with someone as distinguished as Mr. Min."
Gu Mingzhu considered this. That seems right, she thought, and her heart felt somewhat lighter.
Min Xin remained indifferent towards her. After finishing his soup, he started reading documents, with Wang Yuan attending to him nearby. The atmosphere grew somewhat somber, certainly not as lively as when Gu Anxi had been there.
Gu Mingzhu felt quite aggrieved but couldn’t pinpoint a reason, so she could only stay by his side in silence.
After some time had passed, Min Xin suddenly looked up. "You can head back for now."
Gu Mingzhu murmured an "Mhm," rose gracefully, and was about to leave when Min Xin suddenly added, "Oh, and don’t come tomorrow."
His decision was sudden: he no longer wanted to use her. Perhaps it was because Zhou Yu was now with King Jingyao, rendering Gu Mingzhu’s usefulness obsolete. If she wasn’t needed, there was no point in continuing their association.
Gu Mingzhu, oblivious to Min Xin’s internal deliberations, felt a surge of panic. She said softly, "I won’t disturb you. I’ll just bring the soup."
Min Xin looked at her quietly and stated bluntly, "I will not acknowledge you as part of the Min Family."
He harbored no feelings whatsoever for this child born out of wedlock. In his heart, he never considered her his own daughter but rather a child of the Gu family. Moreover, his affair with Tang Yuan had been merely a dalliance; that woman had actually schemed to get pregnant, hoping to use the child to improve her standing. How could he possibly want such a child?
His directness left Gu Mingzhu feeling somewhat hurt. Biting her lip, she said, "I understand, but... but I hold you in the deepest admiration and filial respect."
Min Xin knew she likely wouldn’t give up so easily. Truthfully, as the one who gave her life, he probably should advise her to stay away from him. But Min Xin had never been a soft-hearted man, much less a great philanthropist. If she insisted on coming, he wouldn’t stop her.
As Gu Mingzhu walked out of the hospital room, she quietly sighed in relief.
After all, I’m his biological daughter. Mr. Min must have some feelings for me. Gu Anxi can’t compare to that.
She had just breathed that sigh of relief when she saw Gu Anxi ahead, leaning against the wall with a faint smile.
Gu Mingzhu felt stung by that smile. "Gu Anxi, what are you laughing at!"
Gu Anxi remained leaning there, saying lazily, "Still haven’t figured it out?"
"Figured out what?" Gu Mingzhu retorted, her small face tense.
Gu Anxi chuckled softly. "Min Xin has no intention of acknowledging you. And he’s a dangerous man. If I were you, I’d stay far away from him."
Gu Mingzhu sneered, "How amusing, Gu Anxi! You tell me to stay away from Uncle Min, but what about you? Why are *you* getting close to him?"
"Me, getting close to him?" Gu Anxi rolled her eyes. "What, because I’m into old guys?"
Then, she chuckled again. "Actually, *he’s* the one who approached *me*, okay? He’s thinking of getting me to deal with my ’old brother’ alongside him. Gu Mingzhu, can’t your thinking be a bit more three-dimensional? Must you always be stuck in your two-dimensional ’Pain of Youth’ drama? Otherwise, you’ll really be in a world of pain eventually."
But Gu Mingzhu wasn’t about to listen. She sneered, "You’ve said so much, but it’s all just because you don’t want me to enter the Min Family’s gates and steal your spotlight. Gu Anxi, you’re truly devious."
Gu Anxi sighed. "Fine, think what you want! Just don’t say I didn’t warn you when it hurts later."
She sneered inwardly: Zhou Yu, so deeply loved by Min Xin, was still wounded to the core by him. What chance did Gu Mingzhu stand, someone he didn’t give a second thought to?
Gu Mingzhu’s face was also cold. "Rest assured, Gu Anxi, I won’t lose to you."
"So, it’s a contest of fathers now, is it?" Gu Anxi chuckled. "Alright then. If you enjoy claiming fathers, go right ahead. I’m certainly not interested!"
If Gu Mingzhu really acknowledged Min Xin, then to even compete, I’d have to acknowledge my ’old brother’ as my father. Just picturing that... forget it. It’s best to let Gu Mingzhu enjoy her ’solitary splendor.’
