Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 666: Plan B
Decades ago, the country was a lawless place.
The strong preyed on the weak, and the crime rates soared. In such circumstances, the ones with the most disadvantages were Omegas. They were exploited and forced to become slaves, mistresses or servants, enduring a life worse than animals. It was not uncommon for them to conceive a child, but because they had no idea who sired it nor were they capable of raising it, the child ended up abandoned.
Those who were weak succumbed to death, while the strong grew up in the unforgiving streets. It was hard to say which one was more fortunate.
It was these people who later transformed into bandits, terrorizing the streets and committing crimes as easily as breathing. They thought they had been forsaken by the world, thus they would ignore the cries of its people as well.
Their births went unregistered in official records, and upon death, their corpses were either burned or cast into the wilderness, left to be devoured by famished beasts.
"...you have no idea how fierce they are, especially the ravens." Ku Jin shuddered and rubbed his arms vigorously as if he wanted to shed a layer of skin. "They acted as if they had never eaten before. They would tear at the flesh, teeth, eyes, nails and bones, not even leaving a single trace. And when it’s all over, what remained were only a patch of bloodied soil, the rancid stench lingering in the air, and the nausea in your stomach. Can you imagine it?"
He turned to Jia Molei for answers.
Their car was parked by the seaside. In the approaching winter, the area was nearly deserted, and even the usual bustling restaurant only had one or two customers.
At this moment, both Jia Molei and Ku Jin sat on the outdoor seats overlooking the sea and azure sky. The breeze gently tousled their hair, and if one did not know any better, they would seem like a pair of friends who were out for a fun and impromptu outing.
Why impromptu?
It was because Jia Molei was still wearing pajamas beneath his coat, while Ku Jin was clad only in a long-sleeved shirt, linen pants and sandals. Even looking at him would make one feel cold.
Receiving no response from Jia Molei, Ku Jin shrugged, having gotten used to the silence. Such a fiery and hot-blooded man turning into a docile and lifeless puppet certainly bored him somewhat, but still, it was a tad better than having Jia Molei attempting to run away from him at every single chance he got.
He no longer bothered himself with the man and shifted his attention to the steaming bowl of soup before him. First, he cupped his hands around the bowl, then he brought it into his mouth for a sip, exhaling a loud sigh of satisfaction when the warmth slid down his throat and spread throughout his body.
"...Did you really see it, or did you only make it up?"
Ku Jin had not expected Jia Molei to respond to him. Taken aback, it took him a few seconds to reply. "What do you think?" he retorted in lieu of an answer, an infuriating smirk on his lips.
Jia Molei scoffed. "I’d say it’s all bullshit."
"How rude, Molei!" He gasped, covering his chest as if he was severely wounded by the other person’s words. "I will have you know, I’ve never told you a lie before!"
Jia Molei merely rolled his eyes in response, not taking him seriously. He did not even turn to look at Ku Jin. Instead, he kept his gaze fixed on the distant sea, not touching the soup before him either. Only God knew how many times he’d been drugged and he would only be an utter fool to consume anything given to him by this devil. Unless he was backed into a desperate corner – like that time when he went on a hunger strike for four days, which forced Ku Jin to feed him by force – he only ate meals prepared by his own hands. After he ensured the safety of the ingredients, of course.
And this bastard dared to claim that he’d never told a lie? Ha!
A sneer formed on the corner of Jia Molei’s lips. Changing the topic, he asked, "What are your plans after this?"
After being forced into close proximity for months, Jia Molei gradually learned how to read Ku Jin, and the man did not seem as much of an enigma anymore. For example, he could differentiate when Ku Jin faked anger to tease him from when he was genuinely enraged. He could also sense that the man was in a strangely good mood right now. That’s the reason why Jia Molei dared to strike such a bold question.
As expected, Ku Jin answered, his honesty making him almost seem naïve – almost. "Well, for now, I have no plans aside from going under the radar for a while. Boss’ plan A has been ruined, so we can only resort to plan B."
Jia Molei furrowed his brow. Finally, he deigned to give Ku Jin a glance – an extremely judgemental and scrutinizing one. "What’s plan B?"
Ku Jin grinned like a Cheshire cat.

With the arrest warrant in hand, nothing could stop the police from deploying their full manpower to hunt the Master Manipulator. Every corner of the street was blocked with inspections, and the cars passing through had to be examined thoroughly. The media outlets scrambled to spread the word about this cunning and cold-blooded murderer, exposing his hidden existence in broad daylight. Every single day, the headlines would be filled with the news of Ku Jin.
Somehow, the tense atmosphere seemed like the exact replica of seven years ago, but back then the one in this position was XIU.
Unable to uncover anything about Ku Jin, their current priority was locating Jia Molei. It was believed that as long as the doctor was found, then the Master Manipulator would surely show himself up as well.
Qin Zhen’s case was re-opened, and Cui Yan, the scapegoat, once again faced a trial— this time not as a perpetrator, but an accomplice. With the complete chain of evidence, there was no longer a need to keep Qin Zhen’s body in the cold cabinet of the Forensic Center.
Alas, the only family member who could claim his body was his dementia father, currently staying in the nursing home.
Left with no other choice, Qin Zhen’s body was cremated, and his ashes were placed in the columbarium, where old Mr. Qin could visit him at will— assuming he could remain lucid enough to remember his son.
It was raining lightly when Qin Zhen’s urn was placed behind the glass box. The temperature dropped to five degrees Celsius, and it was expected that snow would come quicker this year.
After the officers responsible for the cremation left, the hall lingered in silence for a while longer, until two figures emerged from the opposite direction. They were Zhong Yun, and accompanying him was none other than Mu Yuze.
