Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 720: What Is He, An Idol?!
In this day and age, news traveled with the speed of light through the internet, and no force was more powerful than netizens. A single platform could seamlessly connect people from all over the country, which was an extraordinarily leap to the state of technology seven years ago.
Amidst the fervent discussions surrounding the secret experiments, a new supertopic emerged and swiftly rose to become the number one trending for how popular it was. Of course, the conversation revolved around a single person — XIU.
The kidnapped children and teenagers from seven years ago had now become high schoolers, college students and working adults, growing up in a safe and secure society created with the joint efforts of XIU, Prime Minister Liang Yuanjun, and many others. One by one, they shared their stories online, arousing sympathy and support from the public.
The media outlets were literally on fire, churning out one article after another of this controversial individual.
In a blink of an eye, the voices in support of XIU grew exponentially to the point where they could no longer be suppressed.
At the same time, a specialized team formed by the Police HQ apprehended and investigated the government members involved in this whole fiasco. They faced a torrent of condemnation and scorn twice the amount of what XIU had endured in the past.
In hindsight, it was amazing how Yuyang City’s Violent Crime Unit escaped unscathed after releasing such a controversial and earth-shattering report. Against these powerhouses, they were nothing but ants that could be crushed at any moment. When all was said and done, it was thanks to Prime Minister Liang Yuanjun’s protection that this matter could go so smoothly.
(Of course, it had to be mentioned that the creator of the supertopic was none other than Kang Guanyu, and he was also the one who built the hype and invited everyone to share their life stories with XIU.)
As such, on the day when He Juan was escorted into the police station, a swarm of reporters and supporters gathered. Camera flashes erupted like lightning once He Juan emerged from the car with a few officers flanking his side, his hands covered in black cloth in front of him. Despite his predicament, he was still clad in a formal, well-fitted suit that enhanced his overall appeal.
Upon seeing him, the crowd of supporters had red eyes.
"XIU!! Look over here, please!"
"XIU, we’re here for you!!"
"Why arrest him?! He’s innocent!"
"Let him go! He has saved a lot of people, so how can you convict him?!"
"Justice for XIU! Justice for XIU!" They chanted in a loud and powerful voice. Some of them carried large cardboard printed with bold characters.
[Thanks to XIU, I am now an aspiring doctor.]
[Thanks to XIU, I could return to my family and see my mother one last time before she passed away.]
[Thanks to XIU, my little brother has now grown up and become a cheerful high school boy.]
Their template was identical; it was apparent that they had discussed this beforehand. When lined up together, they formed a very formidable group. The level of hype was comparable to a national idol meet-and-greet.
Even though He Juan had decided to make use of the public opinion to his advantage, he was still taken aback by the sheer amount of people who had personally come to show him support. At the sight of their solidarity, he couldn’t help but feel a little touched. He had not planned to say anything at first, but he abruptly changed his mind and halted on his tracks, turning to the group.
"The weather is freezing. Go home quickly and don’t let yourself catch a cold," he advised them gently. "I really appreciate all of your support. Thank you so much."
Mu Yuze, who stood beside him, admonished him in a stern tone, "Please refrain from doing anything as you please, Mr. XIU." A strong scent of vinegar emanated from his tone.
He Juan had to suppress a smile as he replied helplessly, "Apologies, Officer Mu."
The crowd remained in a dumbfounded state until he was escorted into the bureau and disappeared from sight. Only then did a larger commotion ensue as they erupted into screams and squeals, "AHHH, XIU IS SO HANDSOME!!!"
"He’s so gentle! And he has such a nice voice!!"
"He’s really the Alpha of all Alphas!"
"Ah, ah, ah! I can— I will support you forever, XIU!"
"Please catch me, I think I’m going to faint!"
Their frenzied excitement grew to the point that the guards struggled to maintain order at the gate.
"Damn it! What is he, an idol?!" One of them couldn’t help but curse under his breath.
Inside the city bureau.
He Juan rode in the elevator toward the floor where the Violent Crime Unit was. Halfway through the journey, he bumped into another group similarly escorting someone, and it was none other than Chen Lian.
As their gazes collided, Chen Lian’s face contorted in a blend of anger and hatred. "I won’t forgive you..." she hissed, her slender frame trembling in animosity. "I will never forgive you!"

Extra: The day Mu Yuze returns to work (it doesn’t fit anywhere in the main story, so I’m putting it in canon *sweat*)
Exactly one week had passed since the kidnapping incident. Since then, Mu Yuze and He Juan seemed to have vanished into thin air, and the police couldn’t find a way to reach them at all. So when Mu Yuze unexpectedly reappeared in the office, he found himself surrounded by his colleagues.
"M–Mu Yuze?!"
"I am not dreaming, right?! Fuck, it’s really you!"
"Why did you disappear all of a sudden?! We thought something bad happened to you!"
Kang Guanyu cried out with tears in his eyes, "Mu Yuze, why didn’t you answer your phone?! We almost submitted a missing person report for you, but Captain stopped us!"
Mu Yuze had come here fully prepared to be fired, so he was taken aback by the overwhelming concern he received from others. "I’m so sorry for making you worry, everyone," he bowed deeply. "I’m fine now, nothing happens to me."
Along with his movement, the bite mark on the back of his neck was exposed, causing everyone to be stunned for a few seconds. It looked fresh and deep, surrounded by dark bruises that made it seem like he had been ravaged in a rough and brutal manner. In an instant, the officers’ imagination grew wild as they concocted a few dog blood dramas inside their minds, and the rims of their eyes reddened.
"H–How can you say that you’re fine?!"
"Damn it, we should have let those Alphas burn in the fire!"
Mu Yuze: "...?"
Confusion flickered in Mu Yuze’s eyes. What were they talking about?
Before he could ask, however, Li Zhi showed up and rapped his knuckles on the door to seize everyone’s attention. He beckoned for Mu Yuze to follow him with a crook of his finger before turning away. Left with no other choice, Mu Yuze could only excuse himself and entered Li Zhi’s office, closing the door behind him.
The first thing he did was apologize. "I’m very sorry for the trouble I’ve caused, Captain. I’m ready to bear any punishment." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Li Zhi’s gaze immediately landed on his marked gland, and an uncomfortable look crossed his face. "...Who is it?" he asked in a gruff tone.
Mu Yuze: "Huh?"
"The one who marked you," Li Zhi forced the words through gritted teeth. "Is it one of the Alphas or... XIU?"
Mu Yuze blinked, slightly taken aback. It took him a few seconds to comprehend the meaning behind Li Zhi’s words, and in an instant, he understood why his colleagues behaved the way they did. As it turned out, they were concerned about him, afraid that he had been marked against his will...
Feeling strangely touched, Mu Yuze reassured in a sincere tone, "Don’t worry, Captain. Nobody forced me. This mark... it’s what I want."
No further words were needed; Li Zhi could immediately tell that the one who had marked his most exemplary team member was that stinky cunning bastard XIU. Gritting his teeth, he shooed Mu Yuze out of his office with a warning that his biannual vacation had all been spent during his absence.
In the end, Mu Yuze escaped the crisis with only a light scolding.
