Capturing the Young Doctor's Heart: Mr. Big Shot Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 103: With Me, All Is Well
In silent confrontation.
Ethan Lancaster quietly turned and left without saying a word.
Claire Prescott instantly understood the man’s intention behind asking her for a kiss.
She turned back and gave him a playful glance, "You did it on purpose?"
Keane Lowell didn’t deny it, pulling her into his arms and soothingly ruffling her hair as his tone returned to normal, "What do you want to eat?"
"I want to eat you."
Keane curled his lips and said gently, "We’ll eat at home tonight."
The remark was loaded with meaning, clearly with a hint of flirtation.
Claire Prescott was momentarily speechless.
She stepped out from his embrace, speaking seriously, "President Lowell, I’m truly hungry."
...
The bodyguard drove them to the nearest five-star restaurant to the hospital for dinner.
They booked a private room for two.
Claire Prescott followed him quietly throughout, only ordering a serving of snow ice when it was time to order.
The waiter quickly served the dishes.
Claire Prescott focused on the snow ice she ordered, bringing it in front of her, taking one bite after another.
Upon seeing this, Keane Lowell spoke up, "Aren’t you hungry? Save dessert for after the meal."
"It’ll melt after the meal."
Seeing her resistance, Keane reached out and moved the bowl of ice aside, instructing the waiter, "Take it away and serve another one after the meal."
Claire Prescott hurriedly defended it, "You’re wasting it."
"Be good."
Those simple words left her without insistence, only able to watch as the waiter took it away.
Keane saw the hint of gloom in her eyes.
During their time together.
He naturally noticed that she liked icy foods when she was in a bad mood, and today was no different.
Today, her situation hadn’t escaped his notice either.
In the afternoon, while working at his company, Assistant Cheney suddenly came in with news, saying that she had saved Ethan Lancaster’s father at Rivers Hospital.
Their families were meant to be united by marriage, which was already a thorn in his side. Now, with the life-saving grace involved, The Lancaster Family certainly had intentions to poach her.
He put aside his work and went directly to the hospital, only to find her talking with Ethan Lancaster.
Although unclear about what transpired between them, her unusual mood was certainly related to The Lancaster Family.
He didn’t mention it during the meal but suddenly asked as she was having snow ice afterward, "What were you talking about with Ethan Lancaster when I found you?"
As the words left his mouth.
Claire Prescott paused, her heart tightening.
Addressing Ethan Lancaster so bluntly really made her nervous.
Though she wasn’t sure what jealousy felt like in a man, the last time she saw Skye Vance scheming to get close to him, even when he did nothing, it was quite unsettling for her.
If she mentioned Ethan Lancaster’s previous attempts to marry her, would he be upset?
After some hesitation.
She moved closer to him, casually saying, "This snow ice is pretty good, try it."
She then scooped a spoonful of snow ice and fed it to him, trying to get close first.
"Isn’t it tasty?"
The man swallowed the melting ice from his mouth, remained silent, and quietly watched her.
Obviously, this tactic had little effect.
Claire Prescott then grasped his hand, wrapping it in her own, and confessed, "Previously, when I returned to Valoria, Ethan Lancaster wanted to marry me. I refused."
"I know."
"You know?" Claire Prescott was somewhat shocked.
"Is it strange?"
Claire Prescott was silent.
The marriage proposal was a matter between their two families, secretly discussed, how did it reach him?
"When did you find out?"
Seeing her persistent on the matter, Keane Lowell’s expression was a bit helpless, "Before you returned to Valoria."
He then returned to the original topic, "You still haven’t answered my question."
Claire Prescott recollected herself, "I have nothing with him. He was just expressing his thanks, don’t overthink. I’ll keep my distance from him in the future."
Keane Lowell had no doubts about her words, but eventually, he wanted to ask, "If there’s nothing between you, why so gloomy?"
"I..."
Claire Prescott’s face dimmed slightly, "I just feel like I’ve changed."
"How so?"
She thought for a moment, sitting closer to him, speaking gently, "There’s a highly skilled doctor in our field who risked himself to save critically ill patients using poison to fight poison, yet the patient wasn’t saved and he ended up behind bars.
Later, it was discovered that his treatment plan was correct; it was a medical accident due to a discrepancy between ancient units of measure and contemporary interpretation.
After correcting the measurement, he attempted multiple times without failures and gained significant recognition in the field.
However.
Despite the significant effect on heart failure and acute abdomen, his medical approach was so extreme that few dared to learn or apply it.
I’ve memorized his emergency treatment cases by heart, met him as a child, and received his guidance, but my grandfather prohibited learning from him. My mentor also had reservations about using poison to fight poison. I argued at the time, thinking it was a visible life-saving method, why not use it."
While speaking, Claire Prescott lowered her eyes, her expression somber.
Keane Lowell listened patiently until she finished, and asked her, "Do you no longer see it that way?"
"No." She spoke softly, "Today, Uncle Lancaster had a sudden acute abdomen. I used that doctor’s method for the first time. While writing the prescription, I didn’t think much, only focused on treating. Eventually, after administration, he was fine. But, it left me thinking quite a bit afterward."
She looked up at the man’s handsome and noble face, "Perhaps it’s not that I’ve changed, but when the situation stands before me, I don’t seem as brave."
Seeing her eyes shimmer beautifully, provoking a tender feeling without reason.
Keane Lowell’s heart ached dully.
He pulled her to sit on his lap, holding her as he said, "It’s not a lack of courage, but that you’ve grown up now, harboring concerns."
"Do what you want, I’m here, I won’t let anything happen to you."
I’m here for you...
"Do you really trust me like that?" Claire Prescott asked by his ear.
"It’s the truth, today you saved a critically ill life, that’s the best proof."
Hearing this, inexplicably, the gloom in Claire Prescott’s heart was instantly dispelled, replaced by a sense of brightness and joy, as if something was blooming in her heart, bursting with melodious sounds.
Her lips involuntarily blossomed into a smile, hooking around his neck, and kissing him on the cheek.
She then couldn’t help but kiss his eyes, touch his nose, and finally his lips.
"President Lowell, you’re truly my lucky star."
She said with a smile, her eyes nearly overflowing with affection for him.
Her heart kept flooding with honey-like warmth, nourishing every part through her veins, making her whole being extraordinarily light.
She kissed him again.
Just as she touched his lips, the man opened his mouth and kissed her back.
Claire Prescott naturally responded...
