Capturing the Young Doctor's Heart: Mr. Big Shot Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 178: On My Side, or His
...
In addition to her work, Claire Prescott still returned to school.
The school reunion lasted for three days. When she got off work in the afternoon, she brought gifts. The former teachers were all in the office.
As soon as they saw her, they gathered around, asking about her situation. They praised her repeatedly. After a brief conversation, they took her to their staff cafeteria for dinner, saying there would be performances in the evening, and she could join them.
But she was not interested in those performances.
So, Fifi took her back to the office, saying she felt chest tightness and asked her to take her pulse and see how she should adjust her health.
This moment of taking pulses attracted other teachers, asking her to take a look as well.
One after another, Fifi’s towering office desk gradually became her temporary pulse diagnosis site.
She patiently checked pulses and was busy until she diagnosed the last waiting teacher before heading home.
By this time, the school dormitories had almost all turned off their lights.
She looked at the time, half-past ten.
"Claire, let me take you home," Fifi said as she patted her head.
Claire politely declined, "No trouble for you, someone is coming to pick me up."
"Alright then," Fifi did not insist, sighing, "You worked hard today. It’s admirable to persist in the TCM heritage. I hope your future life becomes more excellent and that you have a happy life."
"Mm, thank you, Ms. Fifi."
Without saying more, Fifi escorted her to the school gate, feeling at ease only after seeing her drive away.
...
Returning to Azure Court, it was already past eleven.
The entire villa was still lit.
As Claire entered, she saw Keane Lowell sitting in a single armchair.
He was wearing a robe and holding an iPad. When he heard movement, he instinctively looked up, his gaze naturally meeting hers.
Indoor temperature was warmer compared to outside.
She walked over and, when he slightly opened his arms, she sat on his lap, hugged his neck, and rested her whole weight on him.
Keane wrapped his arms around her, affectionately kissing her forehead: "Why are you back so late?"
"Working overtime at school."
He nearly instantly understood her meaning.
But feeling the chill of her body, he couldn’t help but comment: "Wearing so few clothes."
"I forgot to bring more when I went out."
He said nothing more, trying to transmit his warmth to her and asked her opinion: "There’s a horse racing event on Sunday, would you like to go?"
"If you go, I’ll go," Claire straightened, seemingly recharged, got off him, and went upstairs to wash.
Time moved to Sunday.
Before going out, Keane brought her a thicker shawl and mentioned: "Kystral Autumn-Winter Fashion Week is about to start. I’ll take you to pick some clothes when it opens."
"Okay."
Upon arrival at the destination,
They realized it was a large-scale equestrian club.
While heading to the viewing area, they unsurprisingly encountered a few wealthy young men.
Whenever these young men saw Keane, they immediately checked their attitude, greeted him, calling him Mr. Lowell, and their words were filled with reverence.
But Claire felt that compared to reverence, it seemed more like fear.
They gave her a subtle glance and then shifted their gaze away.
The competition was official, held here using rented space.
The ring-viewing area was crowded and lively. The attendant led them to the VIP viewing area.
Not long after they settled down.
Zane White appeared from somewhere, walking straight toward them, with his gentle, pleasant demeanor still giving people an impression of easy-going nature.
Claire was the first to notice him, greeting him proactively, "Brother Zane."
Zane smiled amicably, his gaze landing on their clasped hands, and then called Keane "Brother" before sitting beside Claire.
"Claire, you interested in horse racing too?"
Claire replied, "I’m accompanying your brother."
Zane gave Keane a meaningful look, sighing: "Having a partner is different. Life becomes more enriching; you never came out when I called you back then."
Keane’s voice was low and indifferent: "That wasn’t the case."
Zane choked slightly, then turned to Claire: "Have you noticed my brother has matured a bit?"
Claire was puzzled: "In what way?"
"Appearance-wise."
Upon hearing this, Claire turned to look at Keane. His gaze met hers naturally, allowing her to observe him more clearly.
Perhaps due to the weather and environment’s contrast, although he always wore shirts and trousers, exuding the same noble and unstained aura as before, it seemed a bit like Zane said.
"Indeed, matured a bit," Claire couldn’t help but smile, her eyes flickering with an amused look.
Keane helplessly said: "With me or with him."
"Of course, I’m with you. Can’t I speak the truth?"
Seeing them interact sweetly, Zane nearly couldn’t stand watching, and just took out a little white snake from his pocket to play with.
This scene quickly caught Claire’s attention as she turned around.
Almost instantly, she was terrified, throwing herself into Keane’s arms, clinging to him and refusing to come down.
Seeing her intense reaction, Zane gently comforted her: "Don’t be afraid, it doesn’t bite. You’ve seen Lady White from dramas, right? It’s just like..."
Yet.
Before he could finish, Keane sternly said, "Get lost."
Zane fell silent.
Unwelcome, he had no choice but to leave the VIP viewing area with the little white snake, finding another distant spot.
Keane stroked her head and spoke softly: "It’s okay now, it’s gone."
Claire raised her head from his arms and looked around, discovering Zane was sitting elsewhere with the snake.
Among the Five Poisons, she feared snakes the most, couldn’t stand the sight, and was terrified of them entangling her.
Just a glance made her exceptionally averse, let alone interacting with the snake, playing with it in hand.
It was clearly a pet snake, but she couldn’t understand why he would silently take it out to play, wasn’t this scaring people?
After calming down a bit.
She regained her composure, returned to her seat, tidied her hair, and said a remark to brush off the incident.
Later on, she felt somewhat embarrassed.
Merely because of her fear, Keane drove his cousin out of the VIP viewing area.
She took a sip of tea Keane handed over to calm her nerves, dared not glance at Zane’s direction again, and couldn’t help but lean on Keane, eventually diverting her attention and gradually forgetting the snake’s appearance, ignoring its presence.
Yet.
Not long after.
She saw Milton Rivers arrive and meet Keane.
